Is it not annoying that a lot of graduates receive below 40k in Nigeria, while school cert politicians swims in millions monthly. Even if they can't make minimum wage 50k, they should negotiate to a reasonable 35k

Governments at all levels - local, state and Federal- are struggling to pay N18k minimum wage and you want that doubled. This is a waste of time as the days when the FG could accommodate such demands are long gone.

In a nutshell so we should wallow in penury. And yet politicians keep getting what they want and we see them spending on frivolous things. Govt can't pay but when election comes, they are quick to pay outstanding salaries and arrears dating back to previous years

We don't go strike, i am on my way to the office, just that traffic appears lighter so far. We will only get affected when pengassan joins and there is no fuel to buy. ATM will certainly be dispensing cash and neighbourhood markets will open so the strike ain't even making sense to me. You people voted for a man that promised you reviews, hold him accountable and don't get me and my type involved

And this same labor union, minimum wage earners and no-wage earners will still troop out next year to vote for either PDP or APC like people whose brains have give on sabbatical leave.

We say vote Sowore, they say he should go and contest for councillorship.

Continue to stew in your poverty.

Minister said 14days ultimatum didn't get to him on time, how come the strike action gets to him on time. He said the meeting always took them two days of wasting tax payers and oil money without results.

Bullshit, when last did public servants strike in solidarity with private workers?
So private workers should abandon thier suffering under various private companies to protest minimum wage for public officials...abeg free us.spits
It's going to affect everyone whether u like it or not.if the govt increases their pay,the prices of things in the market will also increase there by causing an increase in the salary of those working for private firms.

The strike is uncalled for and unpopular. The timing is also very wrong since FG is yet to pay September salary. I and most of my colleagues won't be joining the strike. The labour movement should think of other ways to press for salary increment other than strike.

Re: Minimum Wage: NLC Begins Nationwide Strike Today by simplyOJ(m): 6:49am On Sep 27, 2018
All that is required is for politicians to accept a pay cut and you would be alarmed how much that would free up to accommodate this increment. Quite unfortunate we are saddled with demonic & heartless politicians who are in the majority. 18k as minimum salary is poor & its less than what a Politician would give their wards for shawama, pizza & ice cream.

But sir they can afford to collect millions of naira on monthly basis and still loot the country right without it collapsing,my brother that should tell u that there is money to pay if the minimum wage is increased or perhaps they should slash the salaries of all our law Maker's. Then u will know how greedy they are.

It's just wickedness, they have the money to pay the workers it's just because of their selfish interest.
But they can spend billions on election in such states abi.

That is the right thing to do, it's a cycle. The politician spends money on campaigns and vote buying. Gets into office has to recuperate lost money and make extra gain
