This is good. So that people will finally abandon the useless and non productive university school system and embrace the practical, direct and of course, highly productive knowledge that can be gotten online from educative sites like coursera, Lynda, duolingo, udemy, udacity, w3schools, codeacademy, and even youtube. Our present day university education system is not only outdated but also totally redundant. |

AdedoyinO:A politician may take 200 million a month but that's nothing in percentage of our revenue we have 200,000 police alone adding 10k to their salary means extra 2 billion a month... We have army, nervy, Air Force, civil defense, custom, prison, and the rest Plus normal civil servants... That would be extra 100bn a month and you said double it? Lol with what money |

This man must be smoking something coming up with this evil idea.... How can we get loans for 4-6yrs and graduate without jobs. where is the money going to come from? Heaven? We are still debating on 18k minimum wage to be increased and this is one is talking about paying 500k as tuition fee. Dubai education to any level is free to all their citizens. I swear this country don dey die oooo. Their children no dey this country ooo and they wan increase tuition fee. ![]() csnc: |

CodeTemplar:Hellooo, what does the government do for anyone after school? Not even basic amenities like electricity, good roads and water. And on what basis will anyone refuse to work after school? Do you know the number of job applicants yearly? |

mrvitalis:You have changed your voice. This wasn't your initial statement. You were trying to compare Nigerian system of education with that of the US. And that was why I countered you. Before you say we should pay 1m here because Americans are paying 1m as school fees, consider the gap between the minimum wages of the two countries. That was what I was saying. I didn't even champion increment in the minimum wage. Because I know that's not sustainable. Even the current 18k, majority of the states are not paying it. I was only saying the cost basic amenities should reflect the income of the common man. My advice when it comes to education in Nigeria; 1. People should be discouraged from going to school to study non-bankable courses. Courses like zoology, biochemistry, arts, history, public administration, business administration, botany are useless. Even the universities that teach these course know it, but they have to make their money by means of collecting acceptance fee, school fees, convocation fees, etc. 2. More Nigerians should be encouraged to take up vocational endeavors. 3. Only people who are going to study courses that require licensure should go to universities. 4. The education system here needs a total overhaul. |

Some of these people actually benefited from scholarship programs in the 1950's to 80's. Many of them also went to tuition free primary to tertiary institutions and now, they have turned against the masses. This is selfish and God will disappoint every of their evil plans |

Which bank will give loans for tuition when they know there is massive unemployment of graduates in the land? What kind of committee will propose this kind of hike? They want to shut the poor out of university education finally! |

Help me ask Dr. Babalawhatever, how much was his schooling up to PhD cost him. Businessman-Lawyer, pure combination of fraudster. I doubt it if you are a truly a philanthropist as indicated in your biography because if you are you wouldn't have concluded in this manner. I pray that God will forgive you. |

OP there is a typo in your subject heading the fee could not possibly be N500,000k otherwise that would be the same as N500m. Either N500k or N500,000. @ subject, what concerns ASUU with fee? Is it na dem gonna pay? Let ASUU face front and do their work . ASUU striking would only hinder the education students are receiving. Students should be the group protesting and challenging the fees hike. Or am I missinf something here? ![]() |

Grupo:I partially agree. If you shut out these courses you will create another huge problem. As we speak research is so low in Nigeria and for any country to breakthrough that country must be strong in sciences and in research. To cut off core sciences will create another problem in the long run! |

mrvitalis:bros the first thing to do is to compare the standard of living. in the USA, the minimum wage per hour is about 18 dollars or so.. in nigeria.. it is 18000.. now with our economy as it is, inflation and all, most people look up to the public universities as a way to reduce cost of education whilst getting the required learning nd training.. you can't suggest 350k just like that when even the most basic of problems have not been tackled yet to make such comparison |

This government is in power to punish the MASSES. I do tell people election in Nigeria is between ELITE and MASSES. Unfortunately masses will vote for the elite who will make LIFE miserable for them. Wale Babalakin is demon. These same youth will still vote for ELITE that will implement this evil idea. |

1.positive side of his proposal is as follows; Discourage people from investing in education, after all it is not yielding fruit for majority of Nigerians 2. focus more on entrepreneurship instead Govt. job. 3 Reduce number of graduates we produce yearly, thereby reducing competition for job among those who already have the certificates. Notable implications of his proposal: 1. lead to increase in number of illiteracy in the country. 2. violent will be on the increase because of point one above; the northern brothers are known for violence because the rate of illiteracy over there unlike the Yoruba brothers. 3.our effort on technology will become even worst. e.t.c |
