He lacks idea on what to do to secure NE, he will need strong security specialists and intelligence professional

He will need help with his domestic affairs as well. Which of his four wives will be first lady? This yeye man is behind and need to hurry up and get himself ready. Not that he will win but he can at least understand and appreciate the struggle of political risks first hand.

Following the landslide victory of Mr Abubakar Atiku as the flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, information available to us reveal that the jostling for who will be his running mate has reached fever-pitch.

According to sources close to Mr Atiku, he has referred the question of who will be his running mate to the party elders to decide.

This, many believe, would serve to heal any wounds that may have arisen from his landslide victory over Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, who had been enjoying the unhinged support of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the state delegates loyal to him.

There are many eminent PDP members across the country who are qualified for the role but discussions with top PDP apparatchiks at the venue of the just-concluded PDP National Convention revealed that the front runners for the position of Vice Presidential candidate are Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), Governor Nyesom Wike, former Governor Peter Obi, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Govornors Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State and Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

OGD is a former two-term Governor of Ogun State and the Director General of the Atiku Campaign Organization who was able to garner the delegates from the south west states, except Ekiti State delegates, to deliver block votes for Mr Atiku at the primaries.

He is believed to be more suited for the job as he would be able to reduce the votes to and the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the south west states. He would also balance the influence of the current Vice President to President Buhari who is also from Ogun State.

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State was the only Governor that openly supported Mr Atiku and mobilized support from fellow PDP Governors, in direct opposition to people like Mr Wike who publicly supported Mr Tambuwal.

Governor Dickson’s unalloyed support for Mr Atiku also contributed to his recent victory as the presidential candidate of the PDP.

Mr Dickson has been a stabilizing factor in the Niger Delta and is widely accepted as a grassroots politician with strong ties with the Yorubas being that his grandmother is from Ogun State.

His giant strides in various sectors in Bayelsa State continue to stand him in good stead as a purveyor of peace and development to the people in general.

Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the renowned Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy in President Goodluck Jonathan’s Government. She comes with immense experience and capacity together with a largely unblemished public service record.

Though not a politician, her candidacy should put presidential hopefuls from the south east states at ease as she would not be competing with them to take over from Mr Atiku at the end of his single term plan. She would also help to rein in sympathetic votes from Nigerian women across party lines and ethnic or tribal affiliations.

Governor Wike is arguably the latter day leader of the PDP who has fought to steady the course of the party in the last turbulent years after the loss of the presidency to the APC. Though he did not support Mr Atiku in the primaries, pundits say that his control of the party systems through his appointed Chairman, Mr Uche Secondus, is very strong.

Mr Fayose is the current Governor of Ekiti State who stepped down from the presidential primaries race ostensibly to support Mr Tambuwal. Despite the fact that his candidate lost the governorship elections to the APC candidate, pundits say he still commands a lot of support in the south west states.

Mr Fayose, though considered a rabble-rouser by a cross section of the society for his many verbal engagements, should therefore help the PDP garner votes in the south west states as Vice Presidential candidate to Mr Atiku.

Last but not the least is Dr Peter Obi. He is the immediate past and very successful governor of Anambra State. Mr Obi brings economic sagacity and an unblemished public service record to the table but may raise fears from other possible successors to Mr Atiku at the end of the single term as being vice president would put him in pole position to take over.

Fayose is not a good choice. He has scant electoral value and is not a technocrat so Nigeria will suffer that. And when it comes to his records as governor folks like Peter Obi and Donald (if an alliance is possible) performed far better.

No president or individual knows it all and can Do It all. That's why they have advisors and strategists. The plus here is that due to his business exposure and his fexibility.. if he can get the right individuals in the right position he'll try to succeed

Choosing a strong SW politician is not because there no Igbos that qualify, but because it will solidly serve to neutralize Osinbanjo and Tinubu.

The truth of the matter is Atiku is in a difficult river now.. If he chooses SW for VP, he will still not win south west. He will only share the votes with APC and APC will get up to 55% of the votes there. He will lose some northern states but may get up to 45-50% votes from north..

Now, if he makes the mistake to choose from south west, he will lose the igbo votes. Remember the igbos are not just in south east o. There are more than 6 million igbos living outside the south east who are in west, south south and north.

The best for Atiku is to carry someone who has the strong appeal of both south south and south east because that is his strongest zones for now since he is already a northerner..

I am just being factual. There is nothing pdp can do to win south west now since Tinubu and the current VP are there. The best thing is for pdp to find a way to entice the igbos and south south people any where they are to come out and vote. The problem is not that igbos don't have voting power. They do but there is high level of voting apathy. Pdp must find a way to kill that voting apathy by getting someone who has strong appeal among the people of east and south south.

Atiku by his personality will get votes from north. He has the backing of some northern leaders, kings and retired general. That is enough for him. All he needs is get a strong politician from kano to get him good percentage of the votes. Though he will not win kano.

Atiku has the influence to get good percentage of votes from north. He can never win west, lie lie. No matter what he does.

He should retain OGD as his campaign manager and offer to give him juicy position if he wins. That alone plus some influential politicians from that zone can help gather at least between 45%-49% of the votes from south west.

His hope now to ever stand any chance to win Buhari is to between 10 to 14 million votes from the people in south east and south south. If he can get someone who has the appeal of easterners and south south people and politicians.. Maybe someone with both east and south south identity, he can pull such votes there. South south can give him up to 7 million votes if properly rigged. East can pull between 4 to 5.5 million too, if added to easterners in wes, south south and north, he can get additional 1.2 million. This is his best action if u ask me.

If he thinks getting south west person will make him get enough votes there, he will be shooting him self becus easterners will not vote APC, yes but will apply political apathy and that will reduce his chances of winning badly..

He already has OGD as his campaign manager. That was all Amaechi needed to get some votes for Buhari.

Atiku needs to be wise o. Wike is fine just that he is rude and some politicians may not rig election for him.

NOI was just one overfed politician, record had it that all her achievement was mere paper work. we only hear Nigeria as the best economy in Africa all these only reflected in paperworks. according to her she said she complained about budget deficit and extravagant expenses of the FG but he said Jonathan didn't listen but one could expect someone of her profile would resigned not to soil her hand in such mismanagement


that's why i will never even welcome her as VP of Nigeria as her name and achievement only lies on international recognition. in Olamide's voice "international recognition, Na that one my mama go chop?
