ok

outside the real world production aspect of engineering can be seen everywhere and everyday unlike plant

for example if you visit a foundry shop or a crankshaft industry you'll see things yourself

I choose production because it gives you room for self development and entrepreneurship in your field
for example if you really studied well like me (not boasting oo)
you can easily design construct and mass produce mechanical fasteners easily with your CNC cheesy
all you need is just a workshop and a CNC machine and boom you're now a production company cheesy

again in foundry field which is a multi million naira field
many people that knows what's up are taping into it
you wonder where those metal scrap picking guys deposit their scrap metals?
yes it's in foundry shops
they will melt it down cast it into billets and resell to steel producing companies
many opportunities in production aspects of mechanical engineering i can't write down
Just a clue

Excellent.

Hello I'm Ochuko, the name itself should tell you the location I come from. If you really wish to know, PM me and i would tell you. I'm an ND mechanical engineering students. I've stop school and am not going to further my education here in Nigeria anymore. Too much of payment in sch, making sch difficult for people. Unlike the North where everything is easier. May while, I challenge all of the above persons & those below graduate of Mechanical engineering, that most of you don't even have clue about engines. Most of you guys didn't go through the sch, the sch go through most of you. If you're bold enough, quote me and let delibrate on engine problems and your best course ever. Thanks!

my brother don't .... don't start what u can't finish.

what are you good practically in production?
machining, foundry, CAD, CAM, fluid mechanics, etc
you can make career off these

where are you really good at

Machining

Hello Mechengers...

This is a nice idea to have an interactive forum for mechanical Engineers.

A graduate of OAU, ife.

NYSC completion in a bit...

Experience in Production Engineering

Specialization in Thermodynamics!

Oh naija, and our dear educational system..
Where a graduate of electrical engineering is not suppose to know anything about electrical wiring of buildings, electronic engineering graduates too don't know anything about the internal components of tv,radios, computers etc. They say it's for the technicians to know..to me, what a shame.
Mechanical engineering graduates dont know anything about car, trucks, buses, and generator engines because they say its the mechanics job.. Another shame. Mtcheew.

Stupid thread...mechanical engineers that can't dismount an engine not to talk of coupling it back

Nigerian engineers are the most stupid on earth
Lol, most of this above mention are from the North. I'm an ND holder and I can personally dismantle, assemble, recouple and troubleshoot marine & industrial engines. I had my working experience before i went for the ND program. I just graduated this year. So many engineer where advicing me then, bro. Go to school, you have this knowledge and you're not educated, you need to go to school so you can easily find job in a better company. Here I am after sch, no job. Lol, funny country and funny people. All the same, I went to sch to study mechanical engineering. Just should case my child grew up to ask me some day. Such is life!

I have been reading your comments and I laugh

First this Trend is for mechanical engineers and graduates ...students can be allowed

But you dont fall into any of this category

What your studied is "mechanical engineering technology "

It's way different from mechanical engineering... If you don't know the difference google is your friend

You are like a nurse engineers are like doctors... Hope you get that

Now run along
Lol, crystal clear. But since you've been reading my comments, you should understand i said I'm mainly concern about mechanical engines. So get my point clear again. Ask question if you which to learn!

How can you be asking engineers about engines

Do you even know the job description of an engineer?
Technologist and then technicians like you before you get to the craft man

Even a robot can be coded to to the work of a technician and repair and fix an engine... It won't take someone a week of serious training to Able to dismantle and assemble and engine
So don't feel fly

Engines coupling and maintenance are not part of the job description of an engineer those are f9r technicians...

So go play with your follow technicains this are for the elite boys

Run along once again

ND holders are smarter than the BSC engineers because the ND AND THE HND Holders have hands on experience

Re: Thread For Mechanical Engineers... by farady(m): 11:26am On Oct 15, 2018
Good morning everyone. The thread was meant to be enlightening but unfortunately, it's been mostly bashing from all angles. No joy at all cheesy Sometimes you will not blame them. They are simply reacting based on what they see, perceive or have been told. The Nigerian engineer averagely may not be seen to be doing exploits as on would expect. Nevertheless, there quite a number of them that are doing the nation and their respective establishments proud. I would narrow my scope to the oil & gas.

Most times we are not proud of our own. The govt does not even help matters. No conducive environment to develop, harness and build on our creativity. The so called Nigerian Society of Engineers do not even have a strong push. I feel pained to see graduate engineers earning N30k and even below! I met a friend in the field some years ago (say 2007) who told me he was being paid N15,000! I could not believe my ears. These are things the NSE and COREN could look into, just like the NMA (for the medical doctors) do fight for their members.

However I always feel happy when I see our Nigerian engineers engaged in intellectual discussions on projects, busting up design proposals from foreign companies; telling them look you guys made some mistakes here and there etc. This is because some of our people are wired up on this default setting that Nigerian engineers are lazy, cannot think etc. While a percentage are truly like that, there are still some very good ones either trained by their employers or resorted to self development.

The little I know in my field of specialty at the moment is largely from hands-on-site exposure in the company I did my youth service with and other companies I have worked. We do have a problem with our educational system in Nigeria. The curriculum/style of teaching is not tailored to our need and not abreast with current technologies. Students do not have get places for the industrial training all through their 5 years in school. Yes with your first class in mechanical engineering, as a fresher from school, you still do not know jack about why I should use a low speed high volume pump here and use a high pressure, low volume pump there. You only get to know, when you are luckyly engaged in a good company that afford you the opportunity to learn.

For those aspiring, please after your first degree, go for certifications in ares of your choice, learn AutoCad, learn how to us MS word, Excel, Project (very important), learn how to write reports. This is one critical area most of our graduates are lacking; when it comes to writing. Above all read wide and believe God that you can make it in your chosen field. Thank you. Pls don't mind if you see some typo errors oh.

Hi all,

I recommend completing the Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Reliability engineering is hotcake on the global front and also for a resource-dependent country like naija. My $1 recommendation. Cheers.

currently on NYSC scheme in Akwa IBom.

looking for career partners and cool friends that we can relate together on our future.

So when you are looking for friends you blurt out all your 3 names? Have you tried introducing yourself to a babe you met on the road like this?

Besides this is a public forum where anonymity is key. It's not like there is any FORM here that you are filling with all these details.

Na wa o.
Go and learn how to introduce yourself to strangers/potential business partners Or else you'd be seen as some ackward desperate guy and the stranger will just run away.

You people don't give us chance.
You are racist.
Nigerian engineers are black.
Every other imported product comes from white skinned people.
You would rather support white skinned people by purchasing imported products than support Black, Nigerian engineers.

Face it. You are racist.
