The truth of the matter is that Nigeria cannot afford chesp fees.

It would cost N3 trillion in extra funding for our universites to keep fees low. And if the government could not pay that money in 2013 when 'times were good' as PDP people tell us, when will they pay it when the price of oil is lower than in 2013.?

We have to face reality. Either fees go up, or we just keep on taking loans to keep fees low.

When LAUTECH knew that they would increase school fees, it is normal to inform the necessary stakeholders before getting to that figure. If the necessary stakeholders were met, THE NOTICE TO STUDENTS SHOULD BE MORE THAN 2 WEEKS. School is expected to resume on 29th of October, the management communicated such a magnitude increase in fees TWO WEEKS to resumption.

If APC leaves power today....the same thing is going to happen under PDP.

Because, the fact is, we need N3 trillion....for just UNIVERSITES....according to the ASUU/FG agreement of 2009....to keep fees low.

And our budget for this year was N8trillion.

Either government spends half our budget on universites, or we just keep on taking loans.....raising fees is the least offensive option.

How many farmer can afford that kind of money .How many civil servants can afford such a bill without stealing .I think the school management should face the reality if indeed they believed education should be for all they must reduce that fee..it is appalling

1.Is it in the US...where fees can be between $20000-100000?

2.The UK where fees are 9000 pounds...or higher.?

3.Germany and Denmark where school is free....at the cost of half your income in taxes.?

1.At the time those governors went to school, they paid fees. And scholarships were available...you had to hustle for them.

2.We had fewer students in university then. Not everyone went to university in those days....when you could get a job with just OND in a bank. So, there was more money for funding back then.

3.Even with scholarships,if you were poor back then, it did not mean comfy life.

4.Right now....if we want free education nationwide...we need to spend at least N3 trillion every year for just universites (We haven't talked about primary, secondary, polytechnics, etc). Our budget this year was N8trillion. You got the money?

Other nations are planning on sending nan to the moon, we Africans are still punishing each other and hiding under one umbrella called religion
