waste-length braids used to be a no-no for me, but I wear them now (almost waist-length) and get lots of compliments on them. "trashy" is the last thing they are.

shopping for jeans is what I find frustrating. the jeans out there these days are mostly for thin people with no body. it's like a hallelujah moment whenever I find the perfect pair of jeans

You said almost waist length.

Any length to waist is cool, after that, it's trashy.

I wear long braids and one time it past waist length, the complaints started from my husband to my colleagues and I started noticing it too on others.

I feel you for the jeans joor. Now imagine us that don't use trousers. Jean skirts is officially out of the market.

Even cuts for men's trousers now run smaller.

You would have to buy a big 14 to get the fitting of a size 12 four years ago.

I’m a fervent beauty advocate (really passionate about it).

At the same time I have to say that it’s not required for every woman to do the same. Some people don’t care about physical beauty (I don’t mean cleanliness) and that’s okay.

Women with shaved hair are still mighty glorious. The hair is not their glory.

Every choice anyone makes about their own physical appearance is okay. I might not like it but it’s okay. There are no rules about such things and there shouldn’t be.

There is a reason God gave us longer hair, wider hips, bigger boobs etc. in relation to men.

I think every woman should care about beauty, it is God's gift to man. I was surprised when I was in the midst some women (Deeper Life like) and they were concerned with their looks, how neat their hair was, how their colours combined, silver brooches to silver wristwatches etc. They were obviously not concerned with the normal makeup jewelry thingy yet they actively pursued beauty as they deemed fit.

I believe there are don'ts and then ladies pick the dos that suit them. For instance, I wouldn't say don't wear trousers, I would say don't wear skinny ones if you have bow legs.

On second thought, I have thick thighs and I don't think skater gowns will work for me embarassed

Because skater gowns flare out from your waist, they will accommodate your thighs without hassles.

Na wa.
See unnecessary rules and regulations for women.

Please women do what you want and do as you please. Abeg.
You didn't come to this life to live for anyone.
Dress as you want to dress, play with your hair and make up as you please. Do what makes you happy. Just do you.

The only thing is to have the confidence to remain unshaken when anyone tries to bring you down for not acting as others are or for not dressing as they expect you to and you're good to go.
Self confidence will take you far.

And also women,
NO ONE, and I mean, NO ONE is allowed to disrespect you in anyway because of what you wear.
Not a single person.

Aunty, tights only manage to press the little flesh there inwards so I wear skirts that are fitted from the hips down. I never wear straight skirts because it doesn't suit my body type. Fish skirts works perfectly. The peplum is spot on grin

I will try the skater gown

Show your picture maybe just maybe I can help with the recommendation cheesy

at 'unnecessary rules and regulations'. It's just funny to me.

It is natural for a woman to want to please a man with her appearance that's why when you are going on a date, you take extra care to look good.

It is not for yourself ( I mean you don't need to make an impression on yourself), it is for him.

And that should trickle into marriage.

You are right: women have the freedom to dress as they please, talk as they please and conduct themselves as they please.

In return, we observing her has the right to label her as we please.

I mean, a ghetto chic cannot force me to see her as a lady even though she is free to keep displaying ghetto.

I use Palmer's coconut oil DIY mixed with olive oil anyways.
Aunty Bukatyne and Ishilove, I need to know how to get a perfect smooth facial skin devoid of acne. I'm super-scared of trying out creams cos I got sensitive skin. They'll just make me break out in a major rash. I hate using make up, just use brown powder or ponds and lip gloss.

But I want to get a super-smooth face so I won't have to worry about spots looking too shacky When the powder wears off.. Please tell me of cream or a regiment I can take up.

Oh and Ishilove, since you got hips, I'd recommend you just stick to sweet trousers and tops that go long enough just to cover your ass, so no one sees there ain't much there... lol

You are sexualizing women

in Feminists own voice...if you are to abide by the feminists rules, women are supposed to dress and look like men and not to be adored or admired because of their sexiness or beauty, so I am surprised seeing all the nairaland's e-feminists having ecstasy on this thread, wonders sha undecided

One thing that attracts me mostly on women is neatness. Just be fresh, dress good whether poor or rich just look good. Then any other things can be added.

Hmmmmmm

Check that the brown powder isn't adding to the breakouts.

Once I had some stuff on my face, I washed it at night and used skineal till my face cleared (about 5 nights consistent use and stopped). Prolonged use of skineal makes your skin dependent on it and once you stop, it is back to ground zero and then, the skin is immune to it.

For regular, got a toner (Skin Doctor) which I applied after bathing.

In the mornings, get a cleanser or your regular soap, a toner and a face cream/moisturiser. Face creams I know works are Palmer's daily face lotion and Dr. Organic bioactive skincare skintone correcting cream.

mine are almost weight length. i try not to judge other people on their hairstyles, so i wouldn't be quick to label anything longer than waist length "trashy". saw an Asian girl with hair longer than waist length yesterday. would you call that "trashy" or what's the difference between that and a black woman with waist length hair or braids?

yes, I'm fed up with shopping for jeans. most jeans fit like a size 1 or 2, which I'm far from. went to a couple of stores a week ago and ended up trying on up to size 14 jeans shocked. was just like why the hell am I trying on size 14 jeans ((I'm not a 14)) and I still can't pull it up my thighs? i asked the woman working there nicely and said she can't wear them either because the sizes run small. ended up finding one pair at this other store but it was the last pair

I wish I could share pictures, that Asian girl is natural na. Nature would have somehow aligned it to be fine.

Sorry at buying clothes in the open market today. I totally understand the stress. sad

That statement is quite odd coming from a NL Feminist. BTW, I agree with your take but always known you to mostly kick against such comments.

And I don't know why the modern day woman finds it demeaning that men and women are made differently. Men are moved by their sight (well, not excusing those who lack self control).

I may be wrong but I'd wager a bet that you've shelved some of your Feminist beliefs from a few years ago. It is somewhat evident from your posts/threads.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the thread (maybe I go use style dey sight for wife here sef grin).

You have known me bukatyne to kick against such comments?

It is obvious you know nothing about moi.

And I am NOT an NL feminist; I am a feminist who believes in the equality and equal opportunities for both genders.

Go through my threads to have a grasp of me (if you are interested).

Shaving my legs- a big no no. I love my hairy legs.
Aveeno face wash a daily must.
Shower - 2 ice daily. I don't drink coffee so cold water bath helps.
No make up just eye liner and lip gloss.

Nice one @ Bukatyne.
