Generally speaking, why do church people see politics as evil?

The Bible is full of political figures (kings)

If we Christians feel that politics is evil, then it's because the good people have refused to contest. Should we run away from politics because there are many bad people in it?

When those bad people take up these positions and start making laws against Christians now, we will run to church to go and pray.

There is nothing wrong in having Christians in politics. We have been blackmailed and deceived to believe otherwise.

Let's not forget, when the righteous is in power, the people rejoice...

That is the government we hope for.
All the Christians u have known that held political positions, didn't they become liars in the end? That tells u 1 John 5:19 shld not be argued with. That's why psalm 19:7 says: "The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring strength. The reminder of Jehovah is trustworthy, making the inexperienced one wise".
Lastly, look at revelation 17:2. Who do u think is that prostitute who has committed sexual immorality with THE KINGS OF THE EARTH? The bible answers that question. Wld u want to know who?

What do you advise Christians to do? I mean practical actions. It is good that you quoted various verses but also provide practical ways for Christian in modern day world backed by biblical verses. Are Christians supposed to be involved in leadership? If yes where and how? Because I know the church have leaders.

The two major problems in Nigeria are politic and religion.

The leaders of these two spheres are getting richer while their followers are getting poorer.

Religion has never been our problem. Inspite of the sermons been preached in mosques and churches many Nigerians have refused to change. Both Christian and Islam shun evil practices but the followers are adamant. They do as they please not minding the consequences. Even before the advent of those religion, our African religion didn't contribute much in deterring evil as the gods can be easily bought over by the highest bidder. Even though to a large extent it deter some persons from committing evil, evil was still in the land. Until we make up our mind to shun evil, evil will continue to dominate the society till the end of humanity.

Yes prayers is the key but we must make effort. The children of Israel didn't just pray when they went to battle they made effort to conquer their enemies. Many countries in the world did rely so much on pray to succeed. They made effort. Don't get me wrong because I support prayers. They are loyal to Jehovah's Kingdom, which Jesus spoke of when he said: “This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth.” (Matthew 24:14) but they forget that policies been made by whoever takes over power affects them directly or indirectly. Even though they believe in God's kingdom which would manifest in armageddon, the fulfilment of such prophecy would take longer years to be fulfilled. Although they are entitled to their opinion anyway but they shouldn't complain when policies don't go well. That is by the way. You cited other churches interested in politics because of tithes and offerings. What a myopic way of reasoning. Whether elections hold or not, the church is still matching on and the gates of hell will not prevail. Let me ask one question. Who would you think will cast votes on election day? Are they just Muslims, atheist and traditional rulers? If peradventure other Christian sect refuse to partake in elections, would government policies affect the bolded beliefs of Nigerians? Certainly not. Wouldn't you say why are Christian stupid for not voting this present government out of power?.
Even though to a large extent I share in what the JW believe in, I will be affected by any government that comes into power.Their policies may spoil my business hence I may lament for not casting my vote earlier on.

I am not new in politics and I have help shared campaign rice. a few months back the guy representing us in the house assembly bought rice for widows in my community. the rice were given to churches so the could help in distributing them. the only church that rejected the rice are Jehovah witness.
my aunty always tell me they don't celebrate Christmas but each Christmas they receive meat from the cow we slaughter for Christmas. they even accept the raw rice from us before going for their annual retreat. the only group that have total control over most of their branches is those Jehovah witness.

Keep deceiving yourself with the notion that JW don't accept rice. Just wait till this Christmas, prepare fried rice with assorted meat then dicey it with different vegetables. When they come knocking try to offer them rice if they would refuse. Although many may be shy but definely not all. The aroma alone will make some persons saliva to a point of stopping sermon. Who non like beta thing

The problem with our interpretations is that we make everything futuristic while neglecting the present.
Why do we now cry to God when the unbelieving rulers oppress us? We should just take is as our lot to be oppressed na since we are forbidden from holding political offices.

And what do you have to say about kings like David etc?

There is definitely a place for Christians in government. Prov 28:38, Prov 29:2

Lol. Laughing was never the issue. The fact that politicians use religious figures to score cheap points is the issue. Too often, the religious leaders wittingly or unwittingly dance the macabre dance of the politicians.

infact people dont understand that its part of the work of the church to talk about politics. not necessarily being involved in it in a partisan way but always speaking up on and about politics and politicians when they go contrary to what is right for the people and state..

it is not my business if you want to remain politically neutral.
but when you receive campaign gift from politicians, vote in election, your members run for office then there is no difference between you and me. so you have no right to say you don't participate in politics.

there was this Jehovah witness family that live in our neighborhood back then, they always reject any gift coming from my family during Christmas period. but those my deeper life siblings will help digest all the meat,drinks and rice during Christmas and they will still tell me they are not celebrating .what more do they have to do for me to know they are celebrating

This church Deeper Life evidently has more sympathy for buhari and apc. Can anyone remember pst kumuyi speaking against herdmen killings? Can anyone remember pst kumuyi praising buhari in the past? Martin luther king junior says in his struggle he is not bothered about the clamor of his enemies but the silence of his friends. If I praise you for a good deed yesterday, conscience demand that I should call you to order when you go wrong. The only excuse is if the spirit restrained him from speaking. We leave that to him and his God. If I am however in his shoes I will politely turn down the invitation to meet the president or go there and tell him some hard truth. That is the best way to prove you are apolitical. This campaign period a picture speaks more than a thousand words.
