LordAdam16:

It clearly flew over you. We're talking about 2019 and you're talking about the 1960's. Stick to a specific timeline.

GEJ lost more votes in the SE from voter apathy in 2015 than APC got in the SS in 2015. And maybe you have trouble comprehending simple terms or a logical viewpoint. This is not about SE unity. It is about standardizing your movements, so your region can chart a long-term political course.

I'd go over the SS position again, maybe this time you'd understand it. The SS is majorly PDP. There's a budding, solid, and vocal APC movement in the minority. Then there's the ND agitation that's apolitical. Regardless of political affiliation, every subscribes to the struggle. That's why when some nobodies who called themselves ND militants came up recently to say they'd work for Buhari, no one in the SS lost sleep over it.

Nnamdi Kanu coughed and some are already contemplating assassinating him. That's just nuts. This is an independent outlook from the outside in, using what I know of SE politics. Kanu is a fringe element. He has this much clout because there was a vacuum of leadership and no credible movements when he came on the scene. He has his merits and his demerits, and has his place. But you guys need credible movements that'd also appeal to mainstream Nigeria and guard against marginalization until Nigeria is restructured or devoluted.

This is not just about voting as a bloc. It's also about fully exploiting the potential of being on the winning team. 1999-2015, SE was voting for the winning team, how well did the region benefit? Did the SE elites do enough? How do you guys intend to take advantage of the VP position if PDP wins in 2019? How about the Presidency if you guys get it in 2023 or 2027?

This is a socio-political and economic forum no? It's not just about have a figurehead with an Igbo name.

*I'M STILL IN PDP* -Sen. Ekweremadu

I am presently out of the country on a prescheduled engagement.

In the past 24 hours, I have been inundated with calls from friends and political associates seeking clarification on the rumours of my departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has dominated the media.

Let it be known that my path in politics is in the hands of the Almighty God, who has indeed been very faithful and gracious to me. I’m very grateful to God for this.

My vision in politics is a system that works for everybody, a social and political environment where everybody, every section, and every tribe not only counts, but is also seen to count. As leaders, we must be mindful of this, for any system built on anything less will not endure.

I am grateful to you - members of my family, my friends, political associates, and admirers across Nigeria and beyond - for your uncommon concern. I am indeed humbled by your kind words of solidarity and support.

Please, rest assured that I am still in the PDP.

I have a suggestion, we can float a political party with just our ideas here as the manifesto and unique selling points, print fliers and distribute everywhere, float a radio station or advertise on the existing ones with a wide reach in the south east.

We can host radio and TV chat programs aimed at introduction of a different mindset to the masses and from there aim to capture political power ward to ward, LG to LG, state to state.

How much will it cost to float a political party? Any ideas?

Hosting a radio show to air these points here: brilliant move!
Floating a political party? Don't waste your time. Nigerian politics have a way of bringing out the cynics in most people. We all know how it is.

I am not sure what popular broadcasters or programs in the SE that people often tune in to listen to. Introducing a new program on air might take a long time to reach the ears of the masses and garner much audience as anticipated.
So, one good suggestion is to "piggyback" on an already established program or a popular broadcaster who will always introduce the specific radio show that will broadcast these ideas and discussions to the Igbo masses. Such shows should be aired regularly, at least once a week.

How about even using known personalities like Uche Ogbuagu? I think thats another idea. How about popular musicians and artistes? Think about it. Think about the number of people who will want to pay attention when popular artistes volunteer to go on air and table these discussions and ideas we have here. They can even make video recordings and power point presentations and upload them on YouTube.... Utilise every form of social media to do this....the possibilities are immense.

Once such personalities talk about it, and tell people how a group of people from diverse backgrounds are rubbing minds and brainstorming on how to push a socioeconomy renaissance of the southeast, it will draw a lot of curiosity at first, then the interest will pick up....until it gradually creates a very passionate and mass movement.

It can be done!!

I agree with both of u. I think instead of going on a popular radio station, we can actually float our own and even have a youtube channel equivalent of the radio for video debates.

We can make money from it while at the same time educating igbos. Hw did radio biafra become so popular?

As for political party. We should also float a political party and try our luck...u never can tell.

We should start with the most doable. Anybody available to do this should include me

Sometimes we give these leaders too much credence over nothing. Some of these people aren't smarter than us or have this big dream like we do. A person who thinks big will be seen through his projects and policies.

We are led by people who do not task their minds and that of their aides in ruling the states in the east. For instance, the kalus, the elechis, the udenwas and co did not think of a possibility of a bigger Igbo economy that can brought into reality through economic integration.

Kalus and that old buffoon elechi na all idiots

I am in for the radio station.

But instead of campaigning for biafra.

It will be the sensitization and enlightening of the Igbos who still believe in us developing ourselves within the contraption called Nigeria.

When we sensitize them and educate them on the policies best for igbo land. They wake up from their ignorance and become able to hold their HoA representatives, LGA chairman and governors more accountable.

In few years,it will gain more followers from Igboist and other Igbo online forums.

Before you know it. We have the attention of the respective governors. Elective positions will be held to and constitution drafted.

Any presenter who becomes compromised by politicians can be replaced and sacked from the organisation.

I'm in. Anything for my fatherland Alaigbo.

of course biafra is not attainable now. We are not organised for war and we have no allies to aid us. So we are not promoting a divided nigeria.

We can however use the biafran name to get audience. Igbos love biafra and will listen to someone talking about biafra. We can even call the radio Biafran Radio Network. We will use it to teach our ppl how we can get biafra within one nigeria and how we can develop igboland.

We will also make money from adverts both on the radio and on the tv. Our programs will be the same issues we discuss here and our reach can start from enugu to other parts of igboland.

We will share profits according to our various investments

This planned Economic campaign that we are talking of will have nothing to do with Biafra or Nigeria. It will be highly focused on sensitization of the masses of the need for Igboland development.

We Can call it " The Aku Luo Uno Media"

We can organize our yearly conferences in Nigeria, Europe, Asia and America.

We will adopt a Manifesto for Igboland development that all Igbos both educated and non educated will understand and easily adhere to.

The most important thing that we need to do First is to have our own website and Forum to develop these wonderful ideas. Nairaland is unfortunately not the place.

Most of the ideas here will take us to where we should be.. and they are not expensive to implement.

The most important thing now is how to translate talk into action...else, it's all a waste of energy that leads to nothing.

Is there a possibility that we can sway support from the IPOB towards our own course or are we going to grow towards getting to meet with them and make real arrangement with them.

The truth is, they have tried in getting hold of the grassroots and I commend them for that. We will have to try not to combat them with getting followers in the grassroots. It's either we take the long route of constant education or the short root of making IPOB see reasons for our agitation.

This is a good idea. However, everything depends on how sincere the leadership of IPOB is.

If they are sincere then they would see that it’s easier for a wealthier Igboland to achieve self determination than a poor one with little influence. Moreover, it should be obvious that the transition to self government will be easier if critical infrastructure is built now rather than afterwards.

If on the hand, they are pursuing an everlasting struggle and see IPOB as an alternative form of employment (or enterprise), you should expect resistance.

If you meet resistance, then it’s time to take your own message to the grassroots. NK and Mefor don’t have a patent on the methods they used.

Very good point coming from you.

Another question, can we start our own education. We try and get own large followers. Then they will see us as a formidable force too. Don't you think going now might make us look like a joke to them knowing that we don't have any backing.

No let’s not do this through IPOB because our main objective will be lost in the process of involving them. We can have them as one of our affiliate partners among others in sensitizing the igbo public on our economic agenda but we cannot let them run the organization because I want it to be neutral.

What some don't understand is that IPOB/MASSOB or whoever are brands. The key members of these brands depend on maintaining a facade of authenticity if they are to remain relevant. Aligning with IPOB on any political cause is likely to fail because many figures within the ranks would see this as diluting their brand and relevance. This cooperation can only work if they have lucrative offers (like the newly minted super-wealthy former Niger Delta militants), but they have little political leverage to be worthy of such an investment.

Not to mention that IPOB have no strategic thought in their heads. Which is why despite all the grassroots support they mobilized, they are more a political nuisance than power brokers. If they had coherent strategies to advance their cause, their movement could have brought a real revolution to the SE, Ndigbo and Nigerian politics as a whole, but they were too myopic and lost in their own myth-making to think of how to harness their power. Osita Chidoka who ran a good campaign and positioned himself as a champion of IPOB got barely above 1% of over 400,000 votes in the Anambra guber elections, because the people he thought he was fighting for somehow thought it wise to try to stop people from voting.

What I still want to find out from IPOB and their sympathizers is how they intend to make their fantasies come through. Since you reject the Nigerian political process, surely they only other way to achieve your objectives is war. Yet, they also claim to be a non-violent movement. So if you eschew politics, and eschew violence, how exactly do you hope to accomplish this your referendum and your Biafran paradise that you dream of?

500m on state pastors.

Re-election gimmick to woo men that matter.

It was un-necessary though. I'm in Ebonyi atm and everyone knows he'd win.

Don't understand why he had to waste tax payers money as such.

Maybe just crossing the Ts and dotting the Is.

Still unnecessary though.

God bless IPOB.

The so-called southeast "political experts" have been in the country for a long time and have not been able to sit the federal government up. All they do is sulk, cry and criticize.

The more you underestimate IPOB the more they outclass you.

Suddenly VP ticket is the solution to SE woes right? Naivetes... Lol

IPOB is a seperatist group and they shall remain so. Referendum is what they push for and it is POSSIBLE if there is political will among the government to facilitate that, whether constitution or no constitution.

Restructuring on the other hand, should be defined. Because restructuring means different things to different people.

I however believe IPOB will stay true to their cause, but I can't say the same for PDP politicians as regards restructuring. They can change their ringtone tomorrow after winning elections.

APC is a monumental disaster. They are a lost cause.

So there you have it, Biafra referendum is to me, better than PDP manifesto, which (PDP) is in turn better than APC's change.

Political will can only come when you elect people with ideals like yours. But IPOB noisemakers have told us that they have no interest in political participation. Only in making foolish noise on the streets, carrying Israel flag about, and making noise on social media, insulting all other Nigerians. So that's what they'll remain: irritating noisemakers with no political value. Until they can learn to use their brains.

What I have done or not done is neither the point, nor what you should concern yourself with? Concern yourself with people that engage themselves in political activism and set themselves unattainable goals, and worst of all, have no strategy to attain those unattainable goals other than relentless, irritating noisemaking. Okay, we have heard....IPOB want a referendum. Now how do they get about getting it? That is the question to ask any of them. And they are brain-dead moorons if they think that it will be accomplished by noisemaking and insulting the "zoo". Even civilized, advanced democracies like the UK and Canada and Spain don't offer secessionist agenda referendums anytime any group within their borders start making endless noise. Scotland got theirs a few years ago after several years and decades of patient, pain-staking political activism and lobbying. If you are not willing to put in the work it takes to achieve your political goals, pick up arms to fight the government. Those are the only 2 ways to achieve your objectives. Else, stop disturbing the rest of the country with all the noisemaking. Sometimes, I believe IPOB and their sympathizers don't really care about Nigeria breaking up. They just like to give that illusion because it earns them attention. They're basically just attention-seekers. Ndigbo do not really want to split from Nigeria.

Let us stop deceiving ourselves. The Biafran aspirations sound good as an abstract idea, but the practical realities doesn't show in any way that Igbos are interested in such a schism. We are the most nomadic tribe in Nigeria with trillions of Naira of investments around the country. It's like the funny case of my elder sister in the UK who is an Nnamdi Kanu supporter - yet, she and her husband are talking of moving back to Nigeria and the business she's setting up in Nigeria is in Lagos. That is the typical hypocrisy in pushing abstract ideas without following what you preach. This is why the entire Igbo intelligentsia, corporate executives and businessmen, industrialists, politicians etc have been utterly silent about these Biafran aspirations. Cos they really do not give a shiit. If you can't even get the elites on your side, you are already defeated and just making noise. Unlike say Catalonia where many of their politicians are separatists and many of their intellectuals, authors, artists, filmmakers, businessmen, and even footballers like Pique and Guardiola are pro-Catalonia separatists. Yet, you can hardly get any Igbo of note to speak for you and a jobless charlatan from London had to lead the movement.

IPOB is an intellectually lazy movement. And until they have something to offer beyond noisemaking, they're just politically irrelevant nuisances.
