Boss am having a big problem with rendering, once I hit the render (F12) button in blender, and the blank tiles display, my laptop just hangs, I'll wait for some minutes but nothing. I restarted the system and tried rendering again but still the same thing. I don't know if it's from my system (I use a 4gig ram, core i7, 2. 90 Ghz, Intel graphics 1 Gig Gpu system).

I fear that if I continue blender might crash my laptop

I'm so sorry bruh, I use Maya. But, there are more blender users than Boko haram on nairaland. You should search for their threads. I believe you'd get help from them.

First of all 3D animation is NOT easy! It is very difficult and frustrating. I nearly quitted... Twice.
Now let's begin

You need a PC (The one you have would most likely do the job for now), the software and an external mouse.

There are varieties of 3D softwares and non is better than the other. It's all a matter of preference. Check their features and stick with the one that's good for the path you wanna take.

There are various parts of 3D:
1. Modeling (creating the characters)

2. Lighting (lighting the scene [it's not as easy as it sounds])

3. Texturing (giving them life by adding colors to the various features)

4. Animation (making the characters move)

Note that those are the major phases. There are many other small sub-phases like UV mapping, rendering, etc.
There are people who specialize on one and have the other skill sets as complimentary (recommended). And there are people who learn all parts pretty well (stressful af)

3D softwares include:
Autodesk Maya
Autodesk 3Ds Max
Cinema 4D
Blender
ZBrush (for modeling, detailing and texturing only)

While knowing how to sketch would be a huge advantage, it is not necessary for knowing how to do 3D animation.

Blender and 3Ds Max are considered easier than Maya. But, that doesn't mean they're easy. Browse and find out about their features and weigh their benefit to the line you choose.
BUT, I would be more helpful if you choose Maya.

Sorry for asking the seemingly silly question, Pls can you recommend external mouse to buy for my hp 6440b laptop, got one for 2k and it was a mess.

No sir, sorry. Buying a mouse in Nigeria is hugely dependent on luck. I bought a mouse of 1,5k and it lasted for months. I bought another one of 2k and it started misbehaving in less than a month.
From experience though, a good mouse doesn't make very loud click sounds. Just go to a reputable shop and hope for the best with warantee if possible. Never on Jumia or Konga
