If the government cannot de-escalete this situation when it remains a civil unrest, they should be prepared to reap the whirlwind when it becomes a full blown armed conflict. The use of deadly force against civilians is totally wrong and symtomatic of failed governance and a patent lack of ideas. Those who suffer socially, economically and tragically from the present Boko Haram conflict should talk sense into this government.

I see no reason why no concerted effort has been made in the secret and in the open to discourse with this sect in order to resolve all issues around this conflict. And the army as an institution should know this. They cannot achieve their mandate as an institution in securing the entity called Nigeria if they donot consolidate the ideals of the vast majority of the people it is supposed to protect. To antagonize the citizenry of this country constantly will undermine their credibility and abilities.

No one will sympathize with the army and other security agencies if this situation gets out of hand and they begin to fall victim like it is happening in the northeast presently. War should be the very, very, very last option when all, all, all other options have been exhausted.
