Restructuring has been a contention before you were born. Agitation for restructuring was factor in the uprising in West and which galvanized into operation weti e. Restructuring was why Middlebelt officers launched a deadly coup in 1990 when demand for devolution of power failed to heed response.

Kanu and ipob is a new comer to restructuring. Even Atiku is a new comer to restructuring.

This is a temporary fix. What happened if Atiku/Obi loses the 2019 presidential elections? The shouts of Biafra of death will get louder, and maybe more violent.

The igbo political elites are not handling the IPOB phenomena sensibly. They are sending confusing signals to other Nigerians and the general igbo masses, so other Nigerians don't trust them in the political space. All south south igbo governors and political leaders have come out to condemn IPOBs agenda and modus of operation, including some prominent traditional rulers, but core Igbo ones have not.

Kanu simply have to wait until after the elections, all the people that left him will come back. He can then up the hate rhetorics.

The restructuring question has surfaced under every president. We had national conference under Obasanjo. Yaradua did not last long enough to bother with it. It came up under Jonathan. It came up under Buhari. It is a recurrent issue since 1964, a year after we formed the Republic.
