How can 30,000 cause inflation?
He isn't bothered about his own obese wages and allowances but is concerned about the addition of a meagre 10,200NGN to the minimum wage.

Umahi is a self-serving traitor.
You need no other proof to see this self-centered miscreant only thinks about the welfare of his own stomach.

It's such attitude of his that warranted the renaming of the famous Abakaliki road in Awka to Club Road by the Anambra State Government.

It's further heart wrenching that the Forum of South Eastern Governors is headed by a man who leads the weakest link in the South East chain.

It will be well my people.
O kwa mgbe nta.

He is correct but the government in its desperate bid to get re elected at all costs wants to unleash havoc on the economy.
N30k from 18k is almost a 65% increase in wages.
Where the problem comes in is that you have to increase by this same % or something close to it across the salary board.
Private sector has to find a way by increasing cost of goods and services.
Transport fares would increase, services cost would increase and taxes too are likely to go up.
You now have so much money in hands of people chasing goods and services, prices go up due to law of demand and supply.
All these will end up fuelling inflation that may spiral out of control, particularly under this kind of inept leadership.
The bitter truth is that the new minimum wage should b btw 23k-24k,about 25% increase to tally with d rate of inflation. This is a more manageable, realistic, economy friendly and achievable increase.

I agree with the Governor on this, the increase will cause inflation as Traders already know about the Salary increase..... So who will increase their own pay? Of course they will hike the price of their goods especially when more money start chasing few goods. Labour should have fought for better welfare package(not Salary),reduction in fuel price, improved Federal investment/involvement in agriculture, review of Politician's paye.t. c. We are neck deep in Corruption in this country no matter what we want to earn... Politicians will pay themselves first and IF ANYTHING REMAINS they will pay workers. At #18000 minimum wage dem no pay Salary...., tell me an #30000 dem go pay? We seriously need revolution in our Political system but Labour no go fight for that one because dem too dey eye to be Politicians tomorrow like Oshiomole.

This is the worst man PDP has ever had. He pays workers half salary and would be ready to assassinate anyone who tries to challenge it. He has chased out many businesses through over taxation; small scale businesses have all died in the state where small shops and baked beans (akara) sellers are being taxed #14000 perhead.. He sold out VIO, Quarry sites, market tolls etc to himself. I even learned he and Sam Egwu are working against Atiku secretly.

My brother. I think you 're missing out on something here . I find no fault in what he said rather than a warning of the aftermath of increasing minimum wage. The government(state and fed ) will increase taxes in different sectors and suck the money back. Like he said , it will cause inflation that is to say that price of goods and services will rise when the taxes they initially incure is almost doubled .
