Hi ! Did you apply for the Foreign Conditional Exemption Certificate before you were considered for Admission ?

drmorphine:
Hi house, I am new here. I got an admission to study for my PhD in University of Pretoria beginning next year. Though, I have received the admission letter from the university and gotten the police clearance, yellow card, I am yet to pay for my medical insurance and sort my accommodation stuffs out. May I also add that my PhD would be self sponsored as for now and most likely, most of my research would be done here in Nigeria. Many of my folks studying in SA assured me that I would definitely be able to secure funding in my 2nd year. However, I have been able to raise close to a million naira in my bank asides flight ticket booking.

In the light of the above,
1. I would like to know if anyone can assist me with affordable accommodation close to the university as staying in the University hostels would be too expensive.
2. Would a million naira be sufficient for me to push through my visa application and sustain my living in SA for a period of 6-7months? I would still be raking in an estimate of a steady 150k monthly income in Nigeria when I leave.
3. What are my chances of getting my student visa this year provided I make my application before the end of November.

I crave your magnanimity in giving me a robust contribution to my enquiries and requests.

Thank you and God bless.

My contact is telling me they are trying to clear out the back log. So whose travel dates are due for this weekend will likely get theirs tomorrow if it is approved.

They close by 4pm. So i am not sure if you can still go and they will allow you in.

However, if you don't have an sms or email by now, then it is most likely not there. I spoke to someone at the Consular section and he assured me to go and wait, that they will send a batch this evening. Got there by 245pm and it wasn't there. The lady asked me to wait that they were expecting another batch, and when it came, mine was there.

I got my sms when i returned to the office.

Can you please explain to me on how you got your scholarship? Am preparing to start my master in any universities that can give scholarships here in SA, and don’t hesitate to ask me any questions cause am currently in SA.

Hello House, Please I have some questions to ask. I am scheduled to travel to South Africa by December for an Interview. The company inviting me has already paid for the flight and hotel. They have also sent me a letter of invitation. Now my question is do I need to submit an Account Statement with money inside the account before I will be granted Visa.

I stand to be corrected but the above info is not totally correct. I will advise you to try to secure a research supervisor for your PhD.. You may then proceed to apply for NRF, CSIR or other bursaries. CSIR alone offers about R130k per year equivalent to #3.9m, just for your living expenses and accommodation.

Goodluck

Please how can I apply for scholarships for master in SA universities?

Yes you have to and also make sure you have good account records.

Please how can I apply for scholarships for master in SA universities?

Rule 1: Check your intended course in various SA universities.

Rule 2: secure a research supervisor. Obviously your supervisor will have funds to sponsor your research.

Rule 3: Apply for NRF, put in your best and pray, if you could get it then you are good to go. That's for your living expenses, accommodation and others.
