The Us buys like 17-25 percent of nigerias oil.
Us buying more means more revenue for nigeria and more money in FG coffers.

This may lead to low rates of tbills cos there is now more money to finance the budget etc.

So i thought our losing some US patronage may have some effects

It is not as straight forward as it sounds, the US once dropped 13% crude import from Nigeria few years ago but India picked it up during the Iranian sanctions. India is equally benefiting from the US-Iranian oil embargo wavier, so it is unclear if India will remain the "go to guy" this time around.
As a result of increased population, robust transportation networks & industrialization, demand for oil increases in countries like China and EU. If Nigeria doesn't sell crude oil (very unlikely), all the effects of crude oil shock as experienced in 2016 will return including spike in TB rates, Buhari's $42b savings wont hold off the forex deficit forever.

The good news will be Dangote refinery, coming upstream in Q4 2019 and other big refinery projects world over especially those in Asia and middle east, for now, there are no growing fears of Nigeria's oil export capacity, what you should worry about is crude price, think about it, with the US at 11mbopd and Saudi unwilling to rally OPEC to cut down production worse still increasing her output, crude price is likely gonna crash in coming months which will strike a blow to Nigeria's finances especially during this election period.

Pressure from low crude price, elections expenditure, new minimum wage will likely spike inflation, since August, inflation has increased from 11.23% to 11.28% feared to peak at 12.4%, TB rates will continue going higher till next year especially for the long term 364 tenure.
Maybe, if Saudi agrees to a 500k bbls production cut by December, that may reverse the trend, it s a very dynamic spectrum, no certainties there.

I know we all want TB rates at 18% or more but let's be careful how much we wish for this country to run into deficit just because it would lead to increased rates.

E get where e go reach FG go begin owe investors.

I use a foreign bank to forward the Euro into my Nigerian euro account, then withdraw the cash and change at the black market. The foreign banks charges 50 cents per transaction..

Converting back to Euro is just via the black market..

Wow. Alright man. Thanks for the info. Appreciated.

I see nothing bad in having presence in other social media. I for one, turn on my Whatsapp and Telegram more often than i log on to Nairaland.

Here are some of the advantages of Telegram over others:

*Wider audience.

*Ease of identifying and locating answers to questions that has already been addressed.

*Real time and direct one-on-one guide/consultancy to pertinent investment challenges.

Active telegram users can relate to the above facts.

Sometimes making profit or taking a hit in an investment depends on that last minute, split second decision. Web-based discussion threads rarely offer dt choice.

How does the i-invest app works, good to know you are using it. I have read about it, I am aware they do not pay upfront interest rate.

Please let me know how I can configure one and maximum amount one can invest via the app

The answer is that it depends.

What is your time horizon for this investment? In order words, will you need to access the money sooner or later? If you want flexibility to access your cash, then money market is the way to go as these are more liquid and therefore easier to cash out in the event you want to do that.

If accessing the cash quickly is not important, then we are really looking at how the returns compare against each other. From a rate of return perspective, you will need to compare the money market rate (which is an annualized number) to the true yield on the T-bills - if not you are mixing oranges and mangoes in the comparison. The true yield for the tenors you have indicated are as follows:

91 - 11.1%
182 - 14.5%
364 - 16.3%

You also need to consider the fact that interest on T-bills is not taxable while earnings on momey market funds are taxable at 10% i believe. So on an after-tax basis, the money market return of 11.54% is 10.4%.

In short, if liquidity is more important than rate of return, then go with money market, if not, TBill is the way to go!

Please what is the current TB rate?

You can visit their sites or download their app to read their FAQs. But using them is more convenient if you have smartphone as you can take advantage of those shortest tenures to be generating compounded interest.

FG can not afford to owe investors it has serious global implications, FG will rather borrow, dispose assets to escape default.
