please am in serious need of help. I'm suffering from masturbation, I've tried everything I could. I have been to churches, prayed, fasted, infact I have preached the gospel and many more and I am now about giving up on the power of God for the freedom of man. is it that man cannot be free? or do we depend on the grace of God to take us to his kingdom? does the grace of God takes a man to the kingdom after death?. right now as I am typing this, I am dead spiritually and don't know how or what to do to bring myself to my former self #spiritual man. I'm called to serve God but this sin has made me backslided. if only I am free! |

Avoid lonely places and possibly get a room mate who gets home same time with you so you won't have the chance to do such. You aren't alone, you just have to do your best . If you can stay like 3 to 4 days without masturbating then you 'll gradually overcome it. Remember you won't get rid of it once. Its a gradual procedure 1 Like |

See, if you really want to stop masturbating, get an hobby. That is, avoid idleness. Pick up a book or get into body-building. Also, don't watch porn. Pornography is way worse than masturbation. |

Mikefrik: Abeg, let's see here... Being a Christian is not the only way to be spiritual. There are thousands of religions and ways to approach the Divine if you're a theist. Secondly, having a sex drive is a perfectly natural part of your life as a human. The only scripture that people use to claim masturbation is a sin actually refers to an event in which a person refused to obey the command YHWH had given them to help one of their brothers have an heir; it had nothing to do with the act itself being bad. That said, people change and evolve. You thinking or believing differently is you embracing the intelligence - supposing for sake of argument a Divine exists - you were given by the Creator you believe in. It's not something meant to be wasted trying to follow everything other people say because their experiences, while sometimes similar, are not yours. You're your own person. Sometimes that means finding other religious paths that speak to you and the things you need in your life. Other times, it means (*heathenish grin*) embracing skepticism so that you aren't bogged down by the trappings of dogma. It's still not the end of your journey though. Even among us atheists and non-religious folks, there's diversity. Some remove all elements of spirituality from their lives; others keep a few things. The most important takeaway is that this is your life, and if you truly believe in an Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnibenevolent deity, then It knew you'd end up here, and will likely understand whatever choice you make regarding this. Don't limit yourself. |

This is one of the issues with religion. It creates imaginary problems. Here is a single person with a healthy sex drive, who feels guilty because he does what a large percentage of single people with healthy sex drives do. One thing u dont realize is that having a sex drive is perfectly normal for individuals but the way a true christian handles it is different from the way a NORMAL person does!!! His real problem is 1)understanding how God helps people stop sin and 2)dealing with guilt and bad self image!!! |

Mikefrik:You see ur problem is that u need to understand how God changes people, change starts from the heart, allow God INFECT ur heart with love for Jesus, u know there are 2 things that changes a person after he is saved 1 is Experiencing(Spiritualy) Gods love 2 is God striping away his former sinful heart and nature(ezek 36:20-26). Allow God change u, this can only happen when u deal with guilt and poor self image, use the scripture to do that!!! |

Everybody tries to quench this desire through masturbation or actual sexual intercourse. Grupo:As a young man ive had struggles with sexual desires, but God being my witness, i dont watch porn or masturbate or have ever had sex, in fact i notice that the more i exercise self control the more powerful i get over these desires, well u say all this from a NATURAL perspective, but i act based on a BIBLICAL perspective and that is what works for me!!! |

Mikefrik: There is nothing wrong with you. All the people who are going to come here to advise you are masturbating or engaging in proper sexual intercourse. But they are going to act all sanctimonious. Don't mind them. If masturbation makes you feel guilty because of societal constructs, consider getting a girlfriend and start engaging in normal sex. If you cannot afford a conventional girlfriend, worry no more, slay queens have made sex so cheap these days. You can find many of them on Facebook, Instagram, InMessage, Badoo, and even here on Nairaland. Personally, I like to go with slay queens, A.K.A, "pay-as-you-go-girls," not because I can't find a girlfriend or that I don't have enough resources, but because I don't have time to be chasing women up and down when I am supposed to be chasing money. One thing people really need to understand is that sex is a natural urge or desire; it is similar to hunger or thirst. If you start having the urge to drink water, what do you normally do?
