Menace to society?? No

The Politicians are the menace to society. Do you know how much IGR the Govt makes from Betting. If you live in Lagos and feel secure, do you know how much is contributed to the Security Trust Fund by Betting companies? Let me not even get started on employment...just look around you, how many youths are employed in these bet shops and bet companies etc?

You 'holier than thou' lot really need some cleansing. I dont see you complaining alchohol is a menace, nor complain about smoking?? Have you heard of responsible gaming policies?

We shouldnt always condemn what we dont understand.

It has become a menace in our society and the situation is same everywhere in this country.

I share same sentiments as the op btw but it's better they are hopeful on something, anything, than pour out their frustration into robbery and other ill vices

That feeling you get when hold a ticket worth of 700k is second to none. It will just get your mind settled, at least before it cut.

Honestly, this is Buhari's major achievement. Unemployment, lack of hope, frustration and many more he had inflicted on Nigerians caused it all.

Have you noticed betting shops is outnumbering redeem Church in most streets.

Anybody but BUHARI

I'm still searching for someone that'll teach me how to read & understand those betting terminology like over 1.5, *2 etc.

I still dunno wha da fvck those terms mean & I gotta strong gut feeling i'll hammer if I do.

Good one but i expected more like solutions, alternative to what Nigeria youths can engage in.

1)in my town we no longer go to farms due to Herdsmen attack.

2)to start up a business in this country is not beans, getting a loan is difficult and really not friendly.

3)Driving a taxi ain't easy, touts will make it hell for you, extortion at every corner, roads are bad that you will end up using your profit for car repairs.

4)No power supply to encourage businesses that requires electricity like barbing saloons, pure water/cold drinks businesses, dry cleaning, etc. Patrol is 145/litre (by this time next month, it would be higher)

5)This country kills ideas.

6) There are no jobs.
They government of this country is now focused on next year's election and tackling opposition, Governors included whether APC, APGA OR PDP
Really a lot of people have tried and now fed up.

Do you know even those earning salary are betting
Things hard joor, before people are discouraged from doing certain things but now even a yahoo boy will be encouraged by elders "not to give up".

That is the bitter truth. If there are profound solutions to this gambling, then we could constructively scrutinize the patronizers.

Even the bible warns against betting or gambling. In Isaiah 65:11, the scripture says: "But you are among those forsaking Jehovah,Those forgetting my holy mountain,Those setting a table for the god of Good Luck,And those filling up cups of mixed wine for the god of Destiny"

But god and satan bet on Job undecided

Unfortunately, you're the holier than thou here in your assertion. I agree with all you've penned down right there. However, it's eating deep into the fabric of most youths and it's a cause of concern cos tomorrow, when the mantle of leadership finally transfers to our generation, we'll be clueless on the way forward

So my friend won N225k yesterday, made online bet and noticed he won when we were hanging out. He just showed it to me like a normal thing. Note he won with just N100 and he says he does it once in a while when he’s broke.

The fact about betting is that it becomes dangerous and can destroy one's life when one gets addicted to it.
I used to play bet9ja but I've realised it does more harm than good. Even when you win which comes rarely, there's tendency that you'll continue to play and your winnings will be recovered by the company in due time.
It's not something you should partake in if you have focus, It ruins lives!
