The school was founded by German-British educator Kurt Hahn[1] on 13 October 1963 with funding received from the USAID, Ford Foundation and donation of landspace by the then Nigerian Western Regional government.[2] Most of the pioneer teaching staff were British expatriate educators from Gordonstoun in Scotland. The school is a co-educational Boarding and Day School admitting pupils aged 10 to 16. It was primarily established to meet the need of finding a school with a world class standard[3] comparable to schools in Europe and Northern America for children of expatriates, living and working in Nigeria. It opened its doors to pupils of both expatriates of diverse nationalities and highly placed Nigerians. The social setting that ISI provided attracted more patronage from people of all races.

Now that I have answered your question of what an international school means I hope we are all clear now.

You want fundamental human rights for Muslim students in secular schools while at the same time won't allow the same fundamental human rights for secular students in Islamic private schools, how convenient
ISI was established as a secular institution where religious has boundary. Islamic established school are bound to solely Islamic way of teaching. Christian established institutions are based on Christianity.

Nigeria is a multi religious society, with predominantly muslim population. Even in advanced countries, muslims girls are not denied their Allah-given right to wear hijab. Christians must and cannot dictate how we dress or look. We all know this Islamaphobia is orchastrated by CAN in order to morally corrupt our muslim ummah. We will resist this. Time to hide and bide is over. Like it or not, the new norms governing how schools in Nigeria treat muslims are being established now.
what's your point here?english language does not stop at writing or speaking it but goes further by making sense of what u write or speak.concerning the issue being discussed I still what to see ur point cos so far u have made little or no sense, let me quote you "Allah given right to wear hijab"it's ok but u fail to understand the concept of "rights"properly because at almost every point were u are fighting for ur rights don't forget that u may be taking away other peoples rights as well.i quote u again "multi religious society"do u also mean dat Muslims should wear hijab to schools,Christians wear white garment to schools, traditionalists carry their charms to schools ,all other religions that make up a secular school should wear their attires to schools, what do u called dat?nobody is dictating how you dress or look but let's be sincere,if u walk the street and u see me walking along d road wearing just my pants will u still say am withing my rights?lets be clear that u can do so in the appropriate place ,time and gathering.in conclusion if we can pay more attention to life and it's value and less attention to religion we will be better people.i am a Christian but I respect u not because u are a Muslim or a Christian but because I expect u to have value for a fellow human being irespective of who, were and how he is made.thaank you and May God and man bless you

I am really scared for the South West. This was exactly how it started in Maiduguri, before my very eyes it degenerated to what it is today. I have relocated to the West, a place I respect for their high level of religious tolerance, unfortunately they are loosing it by the day. When this will boomerang, even the Muslims will wish they had let the sleeping dogs lie, just as they are wishing in Maiduguri right now cos even the Mosques are not safe anymore. Say No to Religious Extremism.

That's why I am seriously considering relocation from Nigeria because I know the muslims have an Agenda but will our christian clergy do anything about it? I seriously doubt it!

Why blame MURIC for overflogging every minor issue? Where is the Christian Professor who has come out to fight for his beliefs like the muslims do. They'll all be professing political correctness while others are overtly and covertly advancing their interests.

Everywhere will be peaceful until someone starts a religious group and then agitation and name calling starts.
My concern is not even the hijab issue, it's the impression the enemity the parents want to create among their colleagues, little children don't care about all this things their parents fight for in their school until they teach them.
The whites gave us religion and we place it over humanity and peaceful coexistence
Religion without love for mankind,

I think it has something to do with Buhari too.

Nigeria wasn't like this in the past. Where is MURIC gettings it's fund from?

But Buhari will do a 2nd term unless he dies withing now and next February. I don't see any force stopping him in this country. And the present American leadership doesn't really care about black people in general so they would turn a blind eye to whatever human rights abuses that occurs in Nigeria.

It is time for we christians to fight for ourselves. Enough of the wealth and opulence by our men of God. We are at war with principalities and powers: Islam.

A word is enough for the wise.

You will never see Christian running to Alhikmah grammar school. But you will still find Muslims in St. Micheal secondary school claiming right to wear hijab. They cant mess with Oyedepo Even covenant University you will see Alfa sons n daughters there going to chapel because it's a must if them born them make dem try hijab if they won't terminate their admission

...but seriously, can the MURIC go to Convenant University Secondary School with this fight for hijab wearing?

In jigawa state here , my christian friends are forced to wear hijab, cos it's part of their school uniform. They have never complained nor protested. This people should learn to remove religion out of school and obey the school rules and regulations.

This muric is crazy. When the Christians decided to advance the cause of christianity through education they started planting schools aggresively rather than fighting useless fight round the country.
Today those churches decide the ground rules for everyone who school with them and there is no wahala.
If muric wants schools where muslim girls would be covered head to toe under blazing hot sun then muric should go and establish them instead of ranting all over the place.
If winners chapel can plan to build 5,000 primary schools in a decade span then what stops the entirety of muslims to build theirs and run it the way they like.

Exactly my point...

MISSSIONARIES PLANTED THESE SCHOOLS.. SO LET THEM DO LIKEWISE

And because Nigeria is a multi religious country, it only makes sense that she is govern by secular laws and rules with neutrality and no religious undertone, so as to accomodate all the different groups. Nigeria will not be governed by islamic laws! ISI is not an islamic school

Sorry, Christians are not your problem. The Nigerian constitution is not based on the Bible.
Stop seeing your ordeal as a christian/muslim dichotomy, and stop planning to cause chaos where there is none

There is no compulsion of Islam here. All we are asking is for our Constitutional right. And this Hijab is not applicable to any Christian, so why the obsession about it..

What do you mean by "international school?" Wasn't it built with task payers' money? Mind you, it was not paid by the tithe or offerings from the church. Therefore it should respects our Allah-given and also fundamental human rights. The church cannot dictate to us which school is best suited for us to enrol our children.
Then u people should go to those school that allow covering.you obey simple rule.

Hijab is part of a Muslim girl/woman dressing and it is not optional but a must for all true and practicing Muslims. I wonder how the way a Muslim girl dresses in a school concerns a christian. You dress the way you want and allow the Muslims to dress the way they want. The era of trampling on us is gone forever. Everyone has fundamental human rights and the way we dress is part of this.
Finally, i observe that some people cannot argue their points out without using abusive language, this is a weakness and should be checked please. If you are going to be abusive, it is better you don't contribute at all.

In a private school, you follow the laws of the school and not your rights. Since it’s private, if you don’t like their laws you leave

The problem is going to get worse because most you.laba Christians are leaving their states in droves for Lagos, thereby allowing the yu.laba muslims to control states like oshun, ogun, ondo, oyo and lately, ekiti. Notice, it’s only the yo.rigba muslims that are not happy in the Lagos. The schools in Sokoto state should stop forcing christian girls to put on hijab, if this is the stand they want to take.

I've long notice whenever there's any case involving the wearing of hijab in any school down south, MURIC doesn't hesitate to spew their usual brand of nonsense, while they forget that in the north, schools literally force non Muslims girls to wear hijab. Now where is the justice is this.
