Yahoo Yahoo. I give Alfa 50k with no positive result, don't quote me cause am a born again Christian now grin

I swear the only people that really make consistent money in Yahoo Yahoo is Alfa. It's a really reliable business as there are new desperate people every week, dropping 50k-500k in your lap for the cost of some chicken, shells, some herbs, and some chalk. And most of the times, your clients supply their own materials, so you don't even have to invest anything.

'man never backs down', I like that.

So this boy, who's my brother, is a talented fashion designer, far beyond his pairs, but, he works for some greedy bloke who paid him peanut change. So I decided to bankroll him, get him a shop, buy a generator and three embroider machine, with one sowing machine. That way he'd sponsor his education in the University and add to the family net worth. Long story short: he dropped out of school, doesn't save a dime. He abandoned The purpose of starting the business while he makes cool cash and spend it on himself alone.

I threw over 900k in that investment. I actually went broke after the incidence.it hurt because I was doing it for the family.

Chai. Absolutely terrible.

Like BIG said "Keep your family and business completely seperated. Money and blood don't mix like two dicks" grin

as a 28 yr old who was fresh out of service. I started online buisness with my blog and was raking in 250 to 300k plus per month. after like 3 months the income rose to 1mil plus and even 2.some in some months.

Then I started trying out new investments...

LONG STORY SHORT: lost 800k to MMM. By Feb when MMM was confirmed to have crashed, I went ahead to lose another 1 Million naira and 6 months trying to set up another online business.

The painful part was not the 6 months of no income but the bad timing.

because, I had already paid for some plots of land before then. Paid for my new apartment. Was about making down payment for a new Corolla 2015 model when MMM crashed... and the investment started acting funny.

I was TOTALLY SCREWED!

I come lose lappy wey I buy 250k then Acer V Nitro. I was so depressed the only thing that kept me from SUICIDE was MaryJane. I owe my life to her smiley

But then I was able to cash out around 300k plus on the 1mil investment and I am currently on another HOT NICHE and just 2 months in it i am glad to say I now make at least 9 to 15k a day.

By God's grace and if this one goes well, I should be hitting 7figures per month from next year. INSHA ALLAH! AMEN.

Nothing beats losing money to some yeye deal. It brings out the adrenaline in you.

WORD OF ADVICE TO ALL STARTERS: think Internet business. It's cheap to start and gives you room to make mistakes with less financial loses. Besides, the ROI is totally insane!

I used to have a set of video courses for pple who are always asking "show me the way" but then nobody wants to put in work. Most peeps just want free money.
pls can you put me through with the blogging business. I already have in mind a niche I'm interested in. thanks.

This is a repost from one of my projects, back in 2016. I was building a 100% solar-powered hostel for students, because we wanted to show that it could be done. It was experimental, but and at one stage the problems and money lost to many factors was about 2.8M. https://www.nairaland.com/2583312/building-solar-powered-hostel-learning-experience/4#47018143

In summary, we dealt with people vandalizing and breaking buildings, wasted materials, omoniles, paying twice for land, police taking money but not doing anything, LGA people stopping work, I got a cutlass on my arm (thank God it wasn't too bad), and so much more. The most memorable that I lost money was for:

1800k - land (paying twice)
400k - police issues/security
200k - misc mistakes by personnel
150k - roofing mistakes
240k - 2nd payment to LGA (didn't get a receipt the 1st time)

So, in addition to the reasonable costs of building (which includes land, tax, youths, materials, labour, transport), the overruns caused by all our issues is about 2.8M

That 2016 I really suffered enh... my life savings gone, with no sign of relief. I could not continue anything for over 1 year, but thankfully, things are looking up, and we're building out the estate this year and next. I don't consider it a whole loss, but a temporary setback.

I also got into a mini-importation business with a reputable Nairalander... I would import small electronics for hobbyists (Arduino, circuit boards, multimeters), and they would store in their warehouse. Customers would order from my website, and they would use their logistics to send to the customer. We made a few sales, but things were slow and didn't really pick up. About N700,000 worth of materials remains in their custody, but that person is no longer returning my calls or emails. I didn't even see the money from the few sales we had, and I have to write off that loss.

On two occasions, I lent 500k each to two different ladies, one to start provisions store, and another to be selling drinks. These were honest young ladies that people could vouch for, so I did my homework. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances, they had to use their profits for personal matters (hospital, helping their mother, etc). 2 years later, I'm still waiting for the loans to be repaid. I'm still hopeful, but this is yet another loss.

To total these major investment losses: 2.8 + .7 + .5 + .5 = 4.5M shocked not counting other smaller business attempts that failed.

Taking loan to finance a business is the worst. I took a loan of 4m naira to buy 2 Mazda bus. I got 2 drivers and a Manager while I was working as a secondary school teacher. At first, I was making money. Planning to buy more buses. In less than a year, what I was spending was more than what I was making. Lo and behold, the business went into oblivion. I'm back and better. Without any real investment, I built 2 houses this year

Been doing d fish biz on a small scale for a while now which has been owk on d average in terms of turn over, early this year, wanted expanding my coast in the cat fish biz which made me to rent an earthen pond for about 3000 juveniles...
to cut d story short,I lost those numbers to about just 37 pieces due to biosecurity.
to make things worst, all these happened a month to harvest.
that is my own story,I actually lost a lot

2014: Lost 4m in fast food business
Feb 2016: Lost 1m in the cashew business.

Sept 2016: Lost $43,500 at the heat of the dollar crisis
I exported containers of garlic through a contact from Nairaland, buyer refused to pay. The containers still sit at the port of Karachi as at this time.

Feb 2018: Lost about 8m in the lead ore business from another guy here on Nairaland. Story for another day.

It might seem like I am careless, maybe I am. I make it as fast as I lose it. As long as my head remains above my shoulders, I will keep moving.

Hello people
Do anyone know about Bitclub advantage?!

Sharmeenator:
This is a recent bad business experience I want to share. I believe one or two people will learn from it. It's a long story but I will try to make it short without losing too much details.

I decided to start a side hustle in 2016; a cyber cafe, business center and payment solutions provider (e.g. IKEDC, DSTV/GoTV etc.). I got a big shop at a nice location, renovated it to look nice and comfortable. The shop was setup beautifully. Customers were given laptops to browse instead of the old PC everyone uses.
We were getting positive feedbacks daily and motivations to grow bigger. To cut the long story short, everything was going on well and we were progressing and profiting there until the third month.

My boy called me one morning that he met the door opened with no sign of forced entry. We later leant that my staff was careless with the key, someone must have smartly made a copy from the bunch he carelessly left on the counter. We changed the lock and upgraded the security. 5 laptops, router and money were stolen.

Less than a month later, another burglary attempt was made. This time very forceful; the window was cut opened late in the night and the burglary removed. The most unfortunate part was that no one confessed to hear a sound from the removal (which I'm sure couldn't have been done silently) in the dead of the night. The landlord, a pastor in the church that separates the shop from the resident building wasn't so bothered as no one in the house and his family was targeted. More laptops and money were carted away.

I pleaded with the landlord to allow me to get an "aboki" to stay there at night so he could watch over the shop as the security guards we pay to secure the area are as useless as used diapers. He refused citing religious differences. I was forced to involve the police this time despite hating the idea in involving our men in black. I paid 10k and nothing was done. Detective assigned asked me to investigate personally and call him when I 'catch' thieves grin I didn't care, we did some diggings and suspected 3 guys; popo man was called and he said he has closed for the day. The following day when we called him again, he lied he was coming and later cancelled the appointment citing official duty despite having tactically delayed one of the suspects. I have sworn never to involve Nigerian police in my affairs again angry

Almost a week later, a third attempt was made and it became clear we had to leave at least for the sake of our lives. We used less than 6 months there and all these unfortunate events happened within 2 months. We left hastily for another shop not far so we could continue where we left. This decision marked the worst I have ever taken. The new shop, although smaller showed signs of success, so I thought. We renovated it and moved in almost immediately hoping that business would be better there especially with the planned inclusion of Bet9ja and PS2 Gaming. Bet9ja bursted my bubble by not approving the shop, mistake number (I can't tell again). I tried Winners Golden Bet, they answered my prayer but cut it short later when they retrieved their license citing a mistake from them as there was another WGB center not too far off which they didn't noticed earlier. Maybe I would have been given notwithstanding if I had a good connection. I had to settle for Surebet247 which checkmated me to defeat.

Business was over dull in the new environment (no pun intended). Light was over bad (they only have light during our closing hours). We buy fuel of almost 2k everyday despite not making up to 2k (it's that bad) daily. I was practically financing that place with personal money; paid my two staffs from my pocket every month. We did only four months there as that was how far I could personally sustained the business. I sadly laid off my staffs, locked the shop till when my rent expires which was in February this year. I sold off most of the items I didn't give away at ridiculous prices as there was no place to keep them. When I sat down to count my losses, I calculated a loss of 1.6 million (which is surely more than that). I haven't recovered from the unfortunate incidents having spent all my savings. I'm married now with a child this year but I have fallen flat into the same rat-race I was avoiding by attempting to open another stream of income. I will rise, I will fully recover and charge forward.
This is bad but you will rise again.

I came across a thread on nL https://www.nairaland.com/4548511/business-start-400k-lagos

Being the entrepreneurship person that I was, I set out to give it a try.

Left my base in Ilorin to try it out.

Long story cut short.. I invested about 160k into it. Lost about 54k

But I'm unbothered tho, I'm still giving it two more shots next month before giving up on it.

I'm attaching a screenshot to summarise everything I spent.

Note I didn't include my transport, cus I was driving my car myself and it was some sort of tourism to me.

Lesson learnt,
Never test a business based on what people say and don't try any business with money you can't comfortably lose (I learnt the last part from cryptocurrency) grin

Hey bro/sis, I can't drop my phone or any personal detail here for obvious reasons. Secondly, i don't know shiit about adsense and the rest. I had lots of foreign traffic then but i didn't earn my pay off clicks and the rest.

So, i'm not the guy for you if you're thinking about earning off adsense. I did digital marketing and publishing. And a bit of Importation from China.

Re: What Is Your Worst Business Investment And How Much Did You Lose? by samuelchimmy(m): 10:11pm On Nov 19, 2018
Using my 60k I saved up from the work I was doing then to do my clearance and pay school fees only to drop out the next year,

For three good months , I was mute couldn't talk to anybody ,I was so depressed ,I thought I wouldn't make it alive....but I did ....

The other one is losing another 60k in poultry business last year ,bought 100fowls only 30 made it,the once that made it was sold for a ridiculous amount of money by the people I gave to look after them for me ,sold some on credit till today I've not seen my money

I've vowed never to include my family in any business I going to do,I'm thinking about building a new website next year, hopefully it will be successful
