i know what you mean..but we are not ready for that yet....

we dont have the same ideals....its dangerous to try regionalism in a country like nigeria thats so diverse....

are you not worried that so many south yeasterners believed cownunu so quick...??...a animal from london that promised to turn nigeria into somalia...??

dont try it....!!
State formulae is what Nigeria needs, but in a balance true federalism.

Today Lagos was named the best state for tourism in Nigeria, while we have Northern States that can't be disputed to such achievement, bcuz they think money fall from heaven from Abuja to their various States

Akwa Ibom can generate enough electricity that can power the state but whatever is generated has to go to the national grid first, does that even make sense.

There are a lot of things on exclusive list that ought to be removed

#PlanNotPromises
Federal gov't built those, if it were state it wouldn't have been part of the national grid...besides before akwa ibom there was Kaiji in Niger, even at then the power supply was epileptic

Restructuring has to do with the corporate management term for the act of reorganizing the legal, ownership, operational, or other structures of a company for the purpose of making it more profitable, or better organized for its present needs.

With the recent ongoing cry for the restructuring of Nigeria, here are top ten things that would happen if Nigeria is restructured.

1. No More Federal Allocation: The normal trend of states waiting to receive allocation/ "oil money" from the federal treasury will become a thing of the past.

2. States Will Control Their Resources: The various states in Nigeria, will be in full control of their resources. Take for instance, Enugu; the coal producing state will be in full control of how coal is mined, transported and exported without the interference of the federal government. The federal government will play it's role by ensuring the coal mining follows due procedure.

3. Less Power in Abuja: Currently, Nigeria runs a very a expensive government because of the centralized power in Abuja. If Nigeria is restructured, power no longer rests solely in Abuja, but is shared equally among states. This implies that states can have their own separate laws guiding them.

4. State Policing Will be Made Possible: Imagine a Nigeria with a police force bearing the name "KAPD" standing as Kano State Police Department. The various states in Nigeria will be able to be in full control of their military; with Abuja overseeing them all.

5. Government Workers will be more serious: Restructuring this country, is sure to make civil servants serious in carrying out their responsibilities as there would be competition among states to have the best output.

6. Unemployment Reduction: Restructuring Nigeria will reduce the rate of unemployment; because the 36 states with mineral resources will begin to explore and harness their resources leading to a new era of utilization of these human and mineral resources.

7. Increase in Healthy Competition: Nigerian states without good healthcare, schools and public infrastructure will begin to work hard to provide such, so that they can be seen as good among their counterparts. For instance, if a state is not doing well in providing quality education; and sees people leaving the state for other states that state can decide to work hard to improve the education infrastructure to see that it competes with states with the best education.

8. Less dependence on Oil: Due to the fact, that states now control their resources, crude oil will no longer be the main source of revenue for the country; leading to the increase in diversity in revenue generation. Some states could go into manufacturing, some into real large scale Textile making, some into full time agriculture.

9. General Development: The country will generally develop. Each state will be responsible for the improving a key sector of the economy leading to massive development.

10. Nigerian crude oil could lose value: With the dwindling price of oil, and the growing concern about carbon poisoning caused by crude oil, the world is moving toward a green environment. Hence, revenue generated by oil in the south south of Nigeria will make little or no sense in the international markets in the nearest future. By 2020, many countries in Europe will begin the use of electric vehicles.

Tell them please. I know why they're opposed to atiku's stance on restructuring and privatisation. They're afraid because they've been hiding under the nnpc to defraud Nigerians for years. Many houses in abuja would be sold because no free money would be realised from nnpc anymore to maintain them by those thieves. More jobs would also be created. The federal government never knew they could earn so much revenue from the telecoms sector after nitel was privatised. Millions of nigerians today wouldn't have been so employed , the telecoms sector has produced hundreds of thousands of millionaires through nitel privatisation. The elites would never be in consonance with anything that would favour the masses. Some myopic-minded youths are gullibly saying stuffs against atiku's plans, not knowing he's actually fighting for them. If he means what he said and he'd do so without bias, Nigeria would be better for it.

You folks are not seeing the other side of restructuring.. I had no idea about it abinitio buh from your advantages/benefits up there i was able to deduce some other effects which would be bad..

Like imagine if a state can control it's forces, it'd be totally bad for oppositions, looting, many states will suffer, over population will surely affect some states as many people which their states would end up with nothing will end up migrating to others with something, there'd be over tribalism, there will surely be too many crisis which will arise from insults and all. States with nothing, how do you expect them to pay civil servants? Alot of bad side effects i can bring from your point there op buh lemme stop here.

These south south states you because of them want this restructuring are their own enemy not the federal govt. They are always treated well as the power house of the country that they are. Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom always earn more than any other states in Nigeria monthly. Corruption is too much in these places which can even be easily seen in their citizens. They embezzle these funds, Ekiti and co gets little buh they are managing their resources.

From your points up there i don't see Restructuring as the answer my brother. And by the way, in Osun state, individuals control gold minning without govt interfrence but just supervision. Agriculture in Nigeria too is only supervised by govt buh they don't interfere. I don't know much about this oil of a thing buh i think it's private companies (Like Shell, Mobil and all) that control this thing?

You forgot to add the civil war that will start between the states, some state police will be militarised to the extent that slaves will be sold.

All the current chaos is in the midst of the constitution. We've always had one (bar military misadventures)

Our mentality and predications are not mature for what we term restructuring.

I'm telling you that with our complex mix of ethnicities and bigotry, many tribes and states will make laws, which the constitution gives them the right to, to make life unbearable for perceived enemies.

So in order words, the North should continue milking out of the rest because the governors of the state are too lazy to utilize the natural resources of North. You are aware the North has both agriculture and minerals export to fall back in. It does not have to be oil alone. Why should the entire country stay stranded just to compensate on the incompetent of North. Why? Haven't we suffered enough because of you people?

No!!!!!

1) states like bayelsa that receive over 800% more grant than most populous kano have NOTHING to of development, why? The leaders are stealing the money
2)enormous corruption and looting
3)excessive tribalism and nepotism
4)uneven development across the country
5)poor leadership in each state
6)long period of time before states get their acts together
7)most states have NOTHING to depend on
8. )no federal grant means states like jigawa, nasarawa, kwara etc cannot afford to pay their civil servants
9)it takes decades to build an economy which means all the states must go back to the 19th century
10) there will be war and chaos
11) with the current living hardship no state can bear economic building
12) states controlling their resources means enormous theft, all the thieves in each state will have access to state treasury and they'll surely empty

Blame the white people that amalgamated this country
enemy of progress

1. Most federal workers will become state workers with all the consequences.
2. While few states will pay 80K as Minimum Wage, most states will not even be able to pay 10k
3. Governors will even become more powerful
4. With state police, you will all be at the mercy of your political office holders now that the police will be at their beck and call
5. State like Lagos will become even more overcrowded as people flee poorer states
6. Interstate banditry will become more difficult to tackle as each state police start protecting their favorite criminals, their source of IGR.
7. ASUU, NLC, NANS will become less effective as they will now have disparage employers
8. Most doctors and other professionals will move abroad when Lagos, River and Kano can not employ more.
9. Finally, yours sincerely will post something on nairaland to the effect that "I told you so".
