Brentford full-back Moses Odubajo to switch allegiance from England to Nigeria

It means the 25-year-old could be starring in the African Nations Cup in March next year
By Mike McGrath
Updated: 26th November 2018, 10:10 am

BRENTFORD full-back Moses Odubajo has been approached for a Nigeria call-up.
The 25-year-old, who played for England’s youth teams under Aidy Boothroyd, is set to switch countries to play in the African Nations Cup.

Moses Odubajo has battled back from serious injury to start for Brentford in the Championship.

Odubajo has battled back from two years of injury hell with a dislocated knee to rejoin Brentford this season and get regular games in the Championship.

And he will get rewarded with an international call-up after getting on the radar of Nigeria boss Gerard Rohr.

Odubajo will be included in the squad for next year’s qualifier against Seychelles, with the finals now held at the end of the season in Cameroon.

Earlier this season Odubajo admitted he considered QUITTING during his two years of injury hell.
Moses Odubajo played for England U20s in 2015 – but has yet to make a senior appearance for the Three Lions

The 25-year-old made five appearances under Aidy Boothroyd's England stewardship - but he is poised to switch and play for Nigeria

Odubajo left Griffin Park three years ago for Hull but his last game for them was the Championship play-off final when he celebrated getting to the Premier League.

But he has made a solid start to Brentford’s Championship campaign.

He has made seven appearances, but is yet to score for the Bees so far.

Rohr Speaks On Tyronne Ebuehi’s Recovery, Drafts Super Eagles Fitness Coach To Work With Him

As first reported by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team Super Eagles right full back Tyronne Ebuehi is close to full fitness from the injury he suffered at his new club Benfica following his move in the summer.

Ebuehi ruptured his tendon while in training ahead of the start of this season and his recovery after surgery is going smoothly with his January return date still very much in his sight.

Coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr confirmed that progress is been made by the 22 year old and just like the technical crew did with Francis Uzoho ‎, the fitness coach of the Super Eagles is now working with him to help him get back to his best possible shape.

“We need to get another physical coach not only to work when we are in camp, but also to go to the clubs and work with players who need help.

“Sometimes our players need individual coaching. Now we have Tyrone Ebuehi, who is coming back from injury, we sent a coach to work with him. We did it with Uzoho when he wasn’t playing for Deportivo before the World Cup”, the coach said in Lagos.

The Dutch-Nigerian full back is a firm favorite with fans of the senior national team of Nigeria since impressing in his debut game against Argentina in a friendly game which Nigeria won 4-2 in preparation for the World Cup in Russia.

With Rohr hoping to bring in Odubajo (according to Sir ChrisKels), Aina's place in the Eagles Squad maybe in danger especially with Ebuehi's imminent return.

Gernot Rohr : Liverpool-Based Duo Solanke & Lookman 'Not Convinced' About Super Eagles
Published: November 26, 2018

Dominic Solanke and Ademola Lookman's international future lies with England national teams for now, Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has hinted.

It is a foregone conclusion that the two attack-minded players are set to represent the Young Lions at the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship June 16-30, around the same period the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will hold.

The Nigeria Football Federation have been trying to convince the two Liverpool-based players to switch allegiance to Super Eagles without success.

As for Hannover 96 winger, Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee, he would have been the favorite to replace the retired Victor Moses in the Super Eagles setup but injuries have not been kind to him.

Speaking with Sports Editors in Lagos, Rohr said : ''Ademola Lookman and Solanke are not convinced. They have not made up their minds so we will allow then to decide.

''We will go back to them later, but we cannot force anybody to play for us. It is very important decisions for them to make. Noah Bazee is also on our radar.''

William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina and Alex Iwobi played for the youth teams of European nations before becoming cap-tied to Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation have refused to throw in the towel in their pursuit of the Liverpool striker and Everton winger.

If this news is true, reports from some media outlets about change of allegiance of Lookman from England to Nigeria is false after all

Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze: "I did not expect to play so soon"

By Football Espana staff

Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze has admitted his surprise at his fast rise to prominence after netting in each of his last La Liga appearances.

The Nigerian netted in Sunday’s victory over Real Betis after scoring in the previous draw at Rayo Vallecano – making it three goals in just five starts in all competitions.
“It has been an impressive month for me,” Chukwueze is cited as telling reporters by Plaza Deportiva.

“I did not expect to play so soon with the first team but I do not feel pressure or particularly significance, I am only thinking about working hard and continuing to improve.

“It is important to make sure the Coach retains his trust and confidence in me but it is exciting to be playing and doing things that are right.

“Barcelona next week? It is a game that we can win and that is what we are focused on now.”

You never believed Nacho was even capable of pulling the stats he did at City. You did not even believe he had the ability to do what he did.

Nacho was never overhyped. He did it. Pulled stats that was among the best in the game. Broke EPL records. How due to negative systems, the story has changed to overhyped, beats my imagination.

Mikel even had it worse than Nacho. He was utilised wrongly for club and country. Mikel became the image of a national joke. Some said the same, he was overhyped and we expected too much from him.

Very few knew the star was shining bright in him and with the right platform he would blossom.
Truely Mikel had it worse than Nacho is getting, thats Nigerians for you, some people are also waiting patiently for the rave of the moment Chukwueze to have a bad spell then they come out from their shells.

The EPL is the fastest, most competitive and physically intense league IMO.

The Bundesliga is not as physical and or intense so it's relatively easier for technically proficient players to excel and stand out.

A number of English players who have not been able to get game time in thier clubs. Have gone to the Bundesliga and ripped it apart.

Ademola Lookman
Reise Nelson
Jaden Sancho
Batshuayi

So the idea the Bundesliga is not good development is simply not true. I have my suspicions that if KC had gone to the Bundesliga he would have progressed more positively.

Jaden Sancho has been quite impressive in the Bundesliga for Dortmund so much so he was called up to the England squad. Surprisingly he is only 18, leaving Manchester city has proved a very wise decision.
The keyword here is opportunity... Most EPL clubs are financially stable to the extent that they no longer look forward to their academy for new players.. Most academy players in big clubs like city and Chelsea won't give their youngsters enough playing time.. The German and Italian league will offer them that..
Imagine if Pogba hadn't left man utd...his career could have just died

I agree with you

But I can give you so many players from the Spanish league who could not get game time but they ripped the Epl apart also

It's vice versa okay ,don't make it look like there is one thing special about the Epl

The last time I checked bellerin could not make Barca first team but he is doing well at Arsenal

2005 fabregas could not make Barca first them Bt went to Arsenal to ripp the Epl apart .

Epl is the most physical league but when it comes to Europe many of them fail ,west ham and Everton will always fail to beat a back water league team in Europa league ,so where is the physicality?

Should I remind you of ravel Morrison who could not make it at lazio and was sent to a Seria B team ?

Mind you Jordan Sancho was never competiting for game time at mancity he was not even in the mancity first team so please don't make it look like he was on guardiola bench before he joined Dortmund,do you know if he will impress if he was given a chance by Pep ? But that's almost impossible because mancity is star studded
Belllerin and Fabregas were still teenagers playing in the academy at barca na.. Name other players abeg
