SkyWalk12:
My interview story: conducted on September 18, 2018 in Accra.

My interview was for 10am and I got there at 9:20. The security goes through all your bags and takes every electronic device including your chargers. She took my electric toothbrush even.
Then you walk through a metal detector and then go back to her to collect the rest of your stuff that she hasn’t kept in a locker. She will then direct you to another security post where you write your name and purpose and collect a visitor badge. Then you are directed to the waiting room for interviews.
You are to immediately go to the window and drop your documents then go and sit down. There’s a toilet, a water dispenser and a TV that no one turned on.

Wow wow wow!!!

@SkyWalk, one thing I can tell you is that, if you believe, God will honour your diligence, push and hustle and you will be one of the very first set that AVO will release soon. I share this word of faith also as a point of contact for @Threemg and other AVO folks.

Took me like a month to get over it as I was crying into my ice cream after the interview. Many sleepless nights. Thank God for the office Ralph Goodale that gave me small peace of mind.

Mehnnn, really sorry to hear about your experience.
Those CBP officers messed up big time, ergo, the Hilton pacification.

Sincerely, I like the positivity with which you look to the future.
And yes, you certainly will soon become a Canadian! Perhaps, that experience was only meant to get your eyes off America and focus it on your new country, Canada.

Rooting for you on this journey!

SkyWalk12:
Mehn that was more harrowing than my interview. They stopped me at immigration, asked how I was going to survive on the small money in my bank account and I was like I’ll do my friends hair for money. Who knew that was illegal? LOL. Anyway, they put me in detention room, mat on the floor, no communication devices, I couldn’t even flush my own toilet, had to bang on the door for many minutes for the guard to flush it from outside. 12 hours later they put me on a plane back to Lagos. Stopover in South Africa, they put me in Hilton gave me so much money for food and then the next day, I landed in Lagos. I planned to fight it later cos they handled it very badly and I think they were trying to placate me with the luxury treats but it’s fine, I’ll soon become a Canadian so who cares about America? Also I’d been going to America every year for like 15 years at this point so I was like this is how you treat your loyal customers? Issorai. The guy said I hadn’t committed a crime yet but he was punishing me for my intent to commit a crime that’s why he gave me the lowest ban of 5 years. I was like thanks?

That's why I keep telling people, in all situations, lets give thanks to God. His ways are beyond human comprehension and understanding. I can imagine the thought running through your mind then but look at you today, giving it as a testimony.

Congratulations Skywalk12,go and prosper IJN. The good Lord will perfect what he started IJN.

Houston has the record for worst, infact which word can surpass worst? I have friends turned back and banned...their experience is something I cant wish an enemy.

Had a crazy experience in Atlanta once when I travelled with my son on vacation. Atlanta guys don't joke, but I think Chicago, Houston and Detroit POEs are crazier. NY truly has the lowest.

Evaluate your RN and RM with IQAS not WES and the equivalence

RN - 3 years diploma with focus on nursing RM- One year diploma

Not really.
For frequent travelers to the US, especially if you live there for over 3 months at a stretch, there's this breeze that makes you feel at home. You will no longer see yourself as a visitor anymore. Lol

True though, Americans can sometimes be quite arrogant (especially those on the East - both North and South). Never liked anything about the UK but you see, different strokes...Lol.

I was unable to get mine in CIC format.
From experience, it's not compulsory to be in the CIC format as many PPR holders never got the BS in that format.

OK o.

The only place I feel at home outside Nigeria is over the hot sahara... When the blinding sunrays enter into the plane and you need to shut the blind... Crossing into our darling hot weather on my way back from a cold, foreign country.

My remark just came out successful!

I have been shouting since....God I give u all the glory.

Thanks to the people that encouraged me to remark.

In addition, when I saw how MOD guys sent mails to Australia for their remark. As BC don't have such emails, I went on Cambridge's twitter handle. If it worked I will never know as I didn't get a response.

However, I am extremely grateful to God.

Used Liz, Jay and writetotop on you tube.

Practiced a lot. Especially listening in a bus.

Which module did you remark and how long did it take?

[quote author=boco2126 post=73293040]On this IELTS issue...my two cents.

1. Stick to a FEW practice materials! The number of materials for IELTS that we see on a daily on this thread can be overwhelming. Try out only a few and stick to the one that resonates with you. Don't use ieltsliz, Jay, Cambridge, ieltsadvantage, road2ielts etc at the same time (some of these peope don't agree on the same approach and reading all can get really confusing). If you try one and it sits well with you, ditch others. Focus on that one and be a master of it. I almost got overwhelmed at some point, because l wanted to open every link or try every material l saw here. But l had to give myself brain oh.

2. Practise everyday. No excuses. Create the time. Even at work, you can use your lunch break to practise. Instead of listening to music or radio on your way to work, listen to your downloaded tips on writing, speaking, reading, listening. When walking down the streets, have an earpiece on (l hate this, but we can make sacrifices for one month abi?) and keep LISTENING. At weekends, practice speaking with your wife/husband, friend, son/daughter etc. Write out questions and tell them to ask you (under exam conditions). I finished a WHOLE 30 leaves notebook for listening practice (yeah l work an 8 to 5 and live on the mainland with my office on the island -remember, no excuses!). Always check your wrong answers and replay those portions and find out what you didn't hear properly. I used youtube for listening/speaking/reading.

3. There's this ielts expert too, one Ryan (cannot remember his surname) that l think is underrated. I used his tips for writing. He talks about 15 sentences max for writing. 3 paragraphs with 4 sentences and the closing paragraph should have 3 sentences. This keeps you in check and you already know what to write before the exam, all you will be waiting for on the ielts day is the topic given! I can share his materials if you drop your email address.
For writing, write letter and essays! Don't read what someone else wrote. Write yours too. Some people practise writing by reading another's work -WRONG! write yours too and compare. Minimum letters to write on different topics - 10. Minimum essays - 20. Revise your work and look for better ways to reconstruct your sentences. I suggest you write with pencil on your exam day so you can erase if need be.

4. For reading - use youtube. It also has a timer, so practice using the time and don't stop the timer or pause the video. The easiest comprehension in reading are the first two. Spend less time there. Say 5 mins tops for each. You do not need to UNDERSTAND nada. Just look at the instructions (very important), then the questions, then scroll through the passages for the answers. You need all your time for the last two passages. They are more technical.

5. For speaking - Be confident, relaxed and know your basic english and introduction (see ieltsliz). See this as an interview. We all attend interviews don't we? I got a list of 42 likely cue cards from ieltsliz blog (l think she said they change it every 3 months but she always update the cue card questions) and l practiced the 42 different topics and l always set my two minutes timer with my phone. You can be in the BRT or your car and practice this one, or when walking down the street or whilst doing chores at home, or lying down in your bed doing nothing (l did this. Some days, people will think you are going crazy because you are talking to yourself, but...who no go no know). One of the 42 questions l practiced was my cue card during my speaking test -something on my pet animal (l was wondering "madam why me? Animal kwa?" but because l had practised earlier, the examiner had to cut me off when it was two minutes. I just went on and on.

4. Lastly and certainly not the least...the place of PRAYER. I'm catholic, so when l saw the prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino here, l made a mental note to say it. I started saying it every day from September till i wrote my exam on the 1st of November. I even added a 9 days St. Joseph of Cupertino novena with prayer and fasting which ended on the 31st of October (l'm that extra oh. I left no chances). I asked my family to add me in their prayers too. So, pray, pray and pray. Whatever works for you. Someone dropped one St. prayer here on financial assistance for POF, best believe l'll look for that prayer and do it too!

5. People have done it, you too can. Don't be discouraged if you have tried more than once. We don't give up on this thread oh. Being here has taught me a different level of selflessness and never say never spirit. People you don't even know are quick to help and empathise and l am still in awe of you guys.

6. Please drop your email address so l can send the Ryan materials to you.

This too shall pass!

All the best everyone and my apologies for the long post.
