I haven't landed yet but from what I've read, it doesn't necessarily have to be processed from Nigeria. She can start the process there in Canada but she however has to have a legal status at the time of processing. I'm not sure if she can start the process while she's still a student though (I stand corrected). She has to finish school first, get a job and maintain it for at least one year (this is assuming she doesn't have prior work experience) before she can proceed to apply. Trizadove: |

I landed in Ontario because I didn't have much on me to book flight to Prairie region and don't want to touch POF until I land to avoid stories that touch. Also, my wife was able to arrange somewhere for us to stay temporarily in Toronto while we sort ourselves out. I don't have anybody in Prairie region. Hope that satisfies your curiosity Randomsue: |

Hi. Express Entry can be processed in Canada. EE covers CEC, FSW and FST. To qualify for CEC, she needs min. 1yr Canadian work experience and no the experience gained while studying do not count. You can check here for more. She should check if she meets up with the requirement of FSW and if so, she can apply. Check here and page 1 of the Nairaland thread. Trizadove: |

Sorry about that, I've been there quite a few times to send goods to UK and my sis acknowledged it's cheap compared to DHL and some cargo companies at the muritalla hajj camp in Lagos. Guitarlife: |

Does this mean she's currently doing her masters and not undergrad? If yes, and she already has full time experience from Nigeria, then by all means she can go ahead and use that. Like I said before though, what I'm not sure of is if she can start the process while she still maintains a student status. Hoping someone would shed more light on this. Trizadove: |

supo19884:Thanks for responding , this was the deal the lady suggested, or was she just being funny ? She said 0kg - 6kg 7usd per kg but from 7kg upwards its 11USD per kg . Does it mean the lady that attended to me probably had a knowledge gap issue ? By the time you calculate 50kg * 11USD * 364 = NGN 200,200.00 |

These links could also help answer a few questions. They are from the EE thread. You should direct your sister there too, vast information. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/instruction-guide.asp http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/multimedia/create-express-entry-profile.asp http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/profile.asp http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/account.asp Trizadove: |

Suprisely, I haven't met a lady at their office situated at the address before and even when I visited about 2 months ago. For clarification, I suggest to make enquiry about the quoted charges through the no provided. In addition, the office is at the last stand on the right side of the building. On the other hand, a lot of cargo companies are available at the hajj camp of the Muritalla Mohammed airport, even nipost is readily available as suggested by others within the hajj camp . You can find out about there charges so as make comparison as appropriate. Guitarlife: |

Trizadove:Before I begin, I will say your sister needs to gather up money and go see an immigration lawyer who will give her the facts. People need to stop relying on nairaland. Her being in Canada is a big accomplishment, getting herself legalized won't be that hard if she follows the right process in a competent way. Canada is desperate for young educated professionals. My junior cousin is literally going through the process as we speak. He just graduated from University as an international student, got a temp work visa, then after proving he graduated and paid all his fees in full, they gave him a 3 year work visa. He's currently in the process of applying as a skilled worker. Yes you can apply from Canada, and yes he said he'll have to do the IELTS. But that 3 year work visa gives you enough time to legalize ones self. The official Canadian gov't web sites explains to you how one can apply for a post graduate work permit, and later on permanent residency. You can even tell from the web site how desperate they want post graduates to stay and not leave the country. But again I can't stress this enough. Tell you sister to read the thread here and the federal gov't web site, and go to the EE thread just to get a general idea after doing your research. Then find a good immigration lawyer with all her documents and questions she may have. Let her pay 1-2 hour consulting fee so the lawyer can guide her. After that she should have all her answers. Do not rely on nairaland. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/after-graduation.html |

Trizadove:I hope you are based in Canada, else it will be dissapointing that your sister had to rely on you to give her information about applying for PR inland. Most schools would have international student offices that could give her all the information she needs to succesfuly qualify. What sort of qualification does your sister have? PG cert, diploma, degree or post grad degree. All this will matter if she is applying for the regular EE stream. She might gain a few point for having studied here and worked here which might be or not be enough to give her adequate points to qualify for EE selection. joo2018 mentioned CEC class. i just realised that has been brought back. it was suspended a while ago and that would be a good option to try out. In addition, if your sister graduated from Sask or Manitoba or NS, it would be beneficial if she can get on one of the provincial nominee programs specially designed for international grad. Some of this province would even count experience gained as a student on work terms in scoring for nomination. Even if she did not graduate in any of those province, all that might be required of her is to move there and live/work for a year to qualify. Goodluck to your sister. |
