If battery starts swelling then certainly the PB voltage regulation is bound to be inconsistent. At this point it doesn't matter since phone has been fixed already, just be weary of the PB

The matter tire me o. Tecno phone that I got for 3800 has a better audio output than the xiaomi right now. Once u buy, and ur phone works ok.. Just remain on that version. No one knows the bugs and issues the next version would introduce to the phone
I don't want it to appear like I am discrediting your experience, but the audio issue you are having sounds quite unbelievable (no offence).
My device, a Redmi note 4 global came with MiUi 8 android 6 and I have updated all the way up to MiUi 10 developer, currently on a custom rom based on MiUi 10 and the audio has never taken a hit.
The first few weeks I got my phone back in early 2017, I had to use the common Nokia earphone that comes with all these Nokia featurephones and it sounded nice and was usable pending the time I got something better.
So, the Redmi note 5 sounding way worse than a Tecno that cost less than 3800 really got me thinking about all the wonders in Life cry

My personal conclusion is that: your taste has gotten so high that anything lower than your expectation when it comes to audio will hardly suffice or it is an hardware problem.

We still can't cancel out a bug related to software, so you can either factory reset or download the latest update available for your device and factory reset after the first boot to ensure bugs are not carried over from previous software versions.

PS: I don't see myself as an audiophile but I think my ear still works finegrin

I use Sennheiser MX365.. I siezed it from one of my aje butter friends that can buy headphone and gadgets at ridiculous prices. Maybe i may try d coloud, just that I already have too many earphones and headphones. But i believe it's a software issue, na d updating dey fear me. Make another wahala no enter d phone.
Update dear... No fear. No phone on earth is perfect, that's why updates exist. To fix and improve, notwithstanding, there's certainly bugs... Evn in windows, ios, or any Android on earth. Dear update ur phone, i dey ur back wink

Maybe because you use a xiaomi earpiece,i thought of that as well.

Can't really say much on this because I am not an expert in such. Nevertheless, this is worth thinking about.

I have noticed that for certain messages, airtel and sometimes mtn tend to send me text messages instead of ussd messages. For instance, if you dial *140# in airtel, it doesn't give you a reply using ussd, instead it sends you a text message.

Could that be because there is a limit on the number of characters allowed in ussd message?

Out of curiosity, I asked the oracle Google and I came to this response in one of the forums:

"The maximum size of a USSD message is 160 bytes. For GSM 7 Bit messages.... the limit is 182 characters. UC2 encoding per definition is fixed 2 bytes per character so you will have a maximum of 80 characters."

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9109966/what-is-the-maximum-number-of-characters-in-an-ussd-message

Could it be that the truncating of ussd message which you observed in your glo line might be due to glo adding more characters than can be transmitted via ussd?

I don't have a glo line I could have tested it out myself.

For the audio ish you mentioned, I believe it could be due to the update. If you restore factory settings or download the full rom and flash via the updater app, the issue should clear.

Some buyers even seem to be afraid of POD.

A buyer chatted me last week wanting to buy Redmi note 5 Ai, I told him I could waybill to his destination and gave him total cost. He said he was going to call back. Later he called back and suggested POD to lag, I told him I could arrange it, within 36 hours, he said again that he was going to call back. He called back again saying his brother stays in Port Harcourt and could do face to face transaction. I told him that's even more preferable since he can see and inspect what he was buying before paying... At this point he had started to raise up the trust line of 'I trust you but....' Later he called back to ask where my shop was located in Port Harcourt. I told him I didn't have a shop but could deliver to somewhere close to where his brother in Port Harcourt resides. Later he called to say that his brother would only buy if I had a shop. Within the period of all these conversations, I had arranged 2 orders on POD to lag, one of the women had even paid and collected her stuff.

Later he chatted me up asking me to pls refer him to any shop in Port Harcourt where xiaomi phones are sold. I was dumbfounded. You can't trust me to do payment before delivery, POD, face to face transaction, yet you can trust me to refer a shop in Port Harcourt to you. It really didn't make any sense to me..
lol.. Thats how they behave. I can't blame them because some Nigerian vendors are terrible people! As money enter, dem fit change am for you! Last month i closed a deal for wholesale supply of hairs worth over 2m naira to a client in UK.

The person didn't ask me many questions. She was like "my friend trusts you, i have also seen your hair quality ". Few days after, i got alert. That's the power of having satisfied clients.

Don't let it get to you. Focus on your existing clients and keep making them happy. Even me that has a shop in PH, that's well stocked o. People still have trust issues. So those are not your customers biko. Just ensure you maintain your integrity, that's all.

what's up with you guys self? You needed data, he sent. Data didn't work and you have not sent money to him, he took his data back and you are still complaining. Same thing happened to be, he took his data and we are good.

Something we talked about almost a month ago, just yesterday he started quoting me as if he just saw my comment. Trying to paint it as if he sold data to me, when it got to time of payment i started giving excuses and didn't pay him.

The dude is funny and not being straight forward

i can relate to the audio stuff. when i bought my redmi 5 plus, it was doing fine with my old roadside earpiece and i was so impressed but immediately i did my first or second update, everything fell apart. I even came here to ask if anybody has similar problem but no response. The sound was so horrible that i feel like regretting buying the phone. I was forced to order brand new earpiece on aliexpress (baseus),for just few naira around 1k, men, it just took less than 11 days to get to me in "ordinary small packet" delivery. That is how i know how powerful my xiaomi phone output is. In fact i was so impressed that i have to order for the second earpiece in case the first one get damaged. UP until now, for about 3 months, no single issue with the earpiece and the quality still powerful with the output after updating once and factory reset once. You can try it, you will thank me later. Just search for baseus and check the cheapest one.
wow..I will check it out. Thanks bro.

I know one thing for sure that max series have good audio quality, av tested redmi 5plus and note 5 ai too and they are pretty good too. Ur 3,800 Tecno's audio output cannot even beat Dat of redmi 4a, seems Dats d one u should call crap. smiley. Try to use d miui sound enhancer for better result.

Do u rip ur audio files urself?

Maybe u need to check d quality of d audio files u are listening to ( bit rate) dis is d main factor of an audio file den it's format from looseless to wma nd mp4 audio format.

If u are fond of getting audio from xender or bluetooth my sister many people rip without a good settings, even when u download an mp3 file from a reputable site, diff bit rate nd size will be displayed. You can't expect a 96k bit rate to sound as a 320k of d same song.

Sennheiser, Sony, bose, jbl, akg, audio-technica nd beats are all great heaphones money can buy.

I download audio of 4mb upwards. Some of my songs are 16mb.So my audio files are high quality.

Ur definition of good means crappy in my own language. Bros my advice to u Pls get a better earphone, this one can damage ones ear drum. Na slow ear drum killer. U can't compare dis to rock Zircon, uiisii or Coloud pop borrow any of these and see d difference.

OTA updates seems to be the safest of all updates. I have never experienced any data loss ever since I have been updating over the air. It's only those that wants lambo experience in a "jalopy" car that will risk loosing files when they try updating via flashing of different ROMS.
