Has anybody used CES (Comparative Educational Services : University of Toronto...) for ECA? I used them and sent my transcript from my school. The courier tracking shows my official transcript got there November 5 2018 (just over 4 weeks ago). But up till now my profile on their website has not changed. They have not even ticked the first stage of the evaluation process: initial review in progress. I sent them a first email, and after some hours they gave me a general reply that it takes 3 weeks or more before any changes can be seen on my profile. I then sent them another email for them to let me know if my transcript has even gotten there. This is where there didn't even reply. It's being 2 days since my last email.

Its beginning to look like it was oversabi that made me try them; I have not seen anyone in Nigeria use them. I was only scared of WES and their WAEC wahala.

Please has anyone used CES? What's your testimony?

To these questions what do I answer when I get ITA?
I was denied a visa to Germany in late 2016 (money was not enough in my account for intended duration of stay in Germany according to them). I however applied again, I was given the schengen visa, went to Germany in 2017 (for 3 months) and in 2018 (for another 3 months). I came back to Nigeria each time before my visas expired. So does my first visa rejection in 2016 mean I was denied entry?

(I have not even gotten ITA but I'm hopeful.)

boco2126:
On this IELTS issue...my two cents.

1. Stick to a FEW practice materials! The number of materials for IELTS that we see on a daily on this thread can be overwhelming. Try out only a few and stick to the one that resonates with you. Don't use ieltsliz, Jay, Cambridge, ieltsadvantage, road2ielts etc at the same time (some of these peope don't agree on the same approach and reading all can get really confusing). If you try one and it sits well with you, ditch others. Focus on that one and be a master of it. I almost got overwhelmed at some point, because l wanted to open every link or try every material l saw here. But l had to give myself brain oh.

2. Practise everyday. No excuses. Create the time. Even at work, you can use your lunch break to practise. Instead of listening to music or radio on your way to work, listen to your downloaded tips on writing, speaking, reading, listening. When walking down the streets, have an earpiece on (l hate this, but we can make sacrifices for one month abi?) and keep LISTENING. At weekends, practice speaking with your wife/husband, friend, son/daughter etc. Write out questions and tell them to ask you (under exam conditions). I finished a WHOLE 30 leaves notebook for listening practice (yeah l work an 8 to 5 and live on the mainland with my office on the island -remember, no excuses!). Always check your wrong answers and replay those portions and find out what you didn't hear properly. I used youtube for listening/speaking/reading.

3. There's this ielts expert too, one Ryan (cannot remember his surname) that l think is underrated. I used his tips for writing. He talks about 15 sentences max for writing. 3 paragraphs with 4 sentences and the closing paragraph should have 3 sentences. This keeps you in check and you already know what to write before the exam, all you will be waiting for on the ielts day is the topic given! I can share his materials if you drop your email address.
For writing, write letter and essays! Don't read what someone else wrote. Write yours too. Some people practise writing by reading another's work -WRONG! write yours too and compare. Minimum letters to write on different topics - 10. Minimum essays - 20. Revise your work and look for better ways to reconstruct your sentences. I suggest you write with pencil on your exam day so you can erase if need be.

4. For reading - use youtube. It also has a timer, so practice using the time and don't stop the timer or pause the video. The easiest comprehension in reading are the first two. Spend less time there. Say 5 mins tops for each. You do not need to UNDERSTAND nada. Just look at the instructions (very important), then the questions, then scroll through the passages for the answers. You need all your time for the last two passages. They are more technical.

5. For speaking - Be confident, relaxed and know your basic english and introduction (see ieltsliz). See this as an interview. We all attend interviews don't we? I got a list of 42 likely cue cards from ieltsliz blog (l think she said they change it every 3 months but she always update the cue card questions) and l practiced the 42 different topics and l always set my two minutes timer with my phone. You can be in the BRT or your car and practice this one, or when walking down the street or whilst doing chores at home, or lying down in your bed doing nothing (l did this. Some days, people will think you are going crazy because you are talking to yourself, but...who no go no know). One of the 42 questions l practiced was my cue card during my speaking test -something on my pet animal (l was wondering "madam why me? Animal kwa?" but because l had practised earlier, the examiner had to cut me off when it was two minutes. I just went on and on.

4. Lastly and certainly not the least...the place of PRAYER. I'm catholic, so when l saw the prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino here, l made a mental note to say it. I started saying it every day from September till i wrote my exam on the 1st of November. I even added a 9 days St. Joseph of Cupertino novena with prayer and fasting which ended on the 31st of October (l'm that extra oh. I left no chances). I asked my family to add me in their prayers too. So, pray, pray and pray. Whatever works for you. Someone dropped one St. prayer here on financial assistance for POF, best believe l'll look for that prayer and do it too!

5. People have done it, you too can. Don't be discouraged if you have tried more than once. We don't give up on this thread oh. Being here has taught me a different level of selflessness and never say never spirit. People you don't even know are quick to help and empathise and l am still in awe of you guys.

6. Please drop your email address so l can send the Ryan materials to you.

This too shall pass!

All the best everyone and my apologies for the long post.

Kindly forward to my mail please, thank you.

TEECANN:

From your snapshot, your answer choices are in order.

I assume that your US visa refusal is for a visitor/tourist visa.

It will end in praise IJN!

I thought the answer was yes to number 1 and no to number 2. I have a US refusal as well and answered yes to number 1 alone as number looked like removal or deportation.

*Employment Scam----Experience of a new comer*

Dear All,

This mail is just a heads up for newcomers and students and everyone in general who is still new to the ways of Canada.

Requesting you not to judge as to how you would have behaved in that situation. I am just putting this mail as an awareness about how I was cheated and how the scams are going on so now no one else is a victim like me.

I saw a job posting on Indeed.com about a month back for Financial Analyst position on Indeed.com for a company and applied to it.

I got a mail for a routine type pre-screening list of questions and being the enthusiastic job seeker that I was, I immediately replied to that.

After two days, I got a mail again stating that my candidature was selected for an interview. It didn't state exactly whether it was face to face or telephonic ,the tone of the mail being confusing, but I replied back with the answer that I would be willing to meet for the same on the given date. I went to the office in Mississauga(address and all was mentioned in the mail)on the day of interview where I was told at the reception that there has been some sort of confusion, as the hiring always takes place from US HO and there is no face to face interview but a telephonic and that I was the fourth person that day who had this mix up. I got a call then and was asked questions which are asked in regular interviews for Finance positions. They informed me that if I was selected I would be given a training in Calgary office for the first 10 days and the offer letter would be mailed to me.

Due to the strike going on in post, I got my offer letter 4 days late with a complete offer and all details as was informed to me in the interview. I was also given a check of 4300 dollars stating that these are for the training and logistic purpose. Since I am new to Canada, new to the nuances of job scenarios and interviews here, I asked some people, whether this was a normal process and found it perfectly valid.
I mailed my acceptance to which I was asked to deposit the check and email the receipt back to them. Since this was my first transaction with the bank and of a big amount and also not sure about the banking process here, I inquired whether the funds could be used or not, to which the bank perfectly agreed. The next day I was asked to wire back 3000 dollars for training and logistic purpose. This was my first warning bell and since each country has some type of jobs scams going on, I checked myself and proceeded to ask people whether this was all routine, i called the number and asked them about why they couldn't deposit it directly, I checked the Linkedin profiles of all the HR manager, hiring manager and the person for training with whom I was communicating, All of this went through-all seemed to pass through, so I decided to wire the amount and got a mail that I would be given details in one day regarding the training.

After two days I got a mail again asking for remaining 1300 dollars for laptop and software and that is when I realised that I had been duped. No company will ask money for laptop. The next day I got a call from the bank that the check had bounced. I have registered with police for this entire scam and also with the bank, but there is no way that the money can be recovered.
The police is the same everywhere, they told me that these type of scams are common and try to forget about it, instead of acting on what information and mails and everything I had given. The phone lines , the bank transactions, domain ids, Linkedin profiles, everything was still active and can be traced but will not be because the people have accepted that this is a common phenomena and newcomers have to deal with it.
I also informed the company regarding the entire thing to which they updated a post with a back date on their site stating that such a scam is going on and to be aware of it. The entire set up was foolproof with all numbers, names, designations and methods.
I am now being pursued by the bank about the money which now they feel I owe them. Instead of doing their due diligence for a first irregular check, they simply cleared it without any hold. Also when i went to the bank the same day after filing the police report, they were in disbelief as to why the funds were cleared and credited the same day. They suspected me of having something to do with the scam. Also it seemed that they couldn't explain to me as to why the funds were made available the same day, why there was no hold on the first irregular deposit and why no due diligence was performed. I had to take the onus of this since i had not informed them of wiring back the funds to employer. I couldn't have informed them of anything which i wasn't even aware at the time of deposit. The bank is now threatening about the collectors.

I am trying to find a way out of all this, but being new here and without any guidance its difficult about how to deal with this. I also had several conversations with the bank about resolving this amicably, but from what they told me, it seems they have encountered this type of scams routinely and still don't have a counter for it. They just ask the customer to pay it. Since it is mostly newcomers/students who fall prey to this, its easy to threaten them and banks usually yield their way. The victims here are those who are in need of job/money and obviously they can't afford to fight back since they don't know whether to spend time looking for new job and take the effort somewhere else or fight back knowing what is going on is wrong. I have been in a bad state since the last 15 days, dealing with the bank, dealing with the company and also to find a way to fight this back.

This mail is just an awareness for everyone because I can imagine the plight of someone who has been victimised like me.
I did what seemed to me perfectly valid after my due diligence and background check.
If someone has gone through this or is aware about how I can sort with the bank, requesting your help.

Regards,
Urmi

Thanks. If I understand you correctly, does it mean not everyone gets to go through this sort of review by an officer?
joo2018:
The old tracking of IP1/IP2 doesn't really work again, but at 2 months + with Ottawa, I think it is safe to assume that your application should be at section A11.2 MEC (minimum entry criteria) and selection criteria evaluations.

The review could be for work experience or POF. Once the processing queue reaches your turn, the case/migration officer will make a decision. If it is pass, your application proceeds to background check - criminality and security admissibility. If there are still concerns, further eligibility reviews will be done and the file may get transferred to another office depending on how complex the application is judged to be.

I believe that processing queue delay for reviews account for the difference between 1 month (no review required) and 6 month processing timelines.

It will be like that for at least 2 weeks before it would be updated with the conpletion date. This is the new delay tactics from WES.
Oh! Okay. Thanks a lot.

Dear All,

I just need some clarification on the ICES ECA. Has anyone gotten their assessment using regular mail in Nigeria. There is somewhere on their website where it is stated that they don’t send electronic copies. Is it still the case these days ?

Thank you.

Say YES if you have ever been denied a visa to any country. The visa you finally had can still be uploaded along side your biodata page.

Say NO to the first one if that's the case.

I believe a few don't (those with PPR of 1-2 months). But most people do, that's why a lot of us hang out here, keeping each other company.

My 2cents: Put it off your mind and get on with your life. Check your mail at spaced regular intervals. Do research and planning on skills you can acquire to improve your lot when you land. Note that calling, mailing or raising CSE before 6 months will not make the processing of your application go faster, it will only aggravate you and stress the poor, overworked IRCC call agents who can't do anything about your file.

Hello Fam,

I have a police certificate from Brazil which is usually generated on Brazillian police website when one inputs his details. My passport no is A07...... but when their system generates this, it adds two more zeros after the A giving me A0007.... instead of A07. The Police report is in Portuguese so I have to translate it to English. I would have loved to ask the translators to correcr this, but the translators need to certify that every informationin in the Portuguese version is exactly the same as the English version. How do i go about this please?

Secondly, my POF is my savings which has been above the minimum 12,375 for well over 9 months now, but I do transfer to my other account from time to time. I hope this would not be a regarded as bulk sum since my account has been over 12375 for over 9 months and above the 6 months required?

Please pardon any errors
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by joo2018: 9:20am On Dec 06, 2018
1. If it can't be corrected, you can add a LOE to explain it. If it is a system error, I'm sure they will have faced it before as a lot of Brazilians also apply.

2.As long as your average monthly balance remains above the minimum sum, I believe you are good to go.

It is my intention to make all the materials available. MOD/IDP materials are accessible online for those who registered with them. Some have been so kind hearted to share log on details and I have been able to extract each page to pdf. Some modules close to 400 pages. You can only imagine how tedious to PDF each page across the three modules. I have devised a means of extracting audio contents and I need some one to kindly share log on details privately and I will make all the four modules available for ALL.
I have shared some but I can only share if someone activate listening module and share log in access with me
