Hey peeps, I'm new here and this is my very first post on nairaland, I've been following this thread or a wyl now, I was denied Canadian study visa twice last year for no good reason as far as I'm concerned (CENTENNIAL COLLEGE),I'd have applied this November to Griffith College for My masters, Coz of time constraint as I'll also have to write the IELTS exams too, I posponed my application to September 2019.. I've not been seeing positive remarks about Griffith College, I chose Griffith Coz it's in Dublin, and also compared to others, it's cheaper (I think), I'm budgeting €15,000 for my tuition and €5,000 for my edubond deposit... I need prescription on better schools I can go for in Dublin.. I'm an orphan, my elder brother is sponsoring me, I graduated from Covenant Uni, Mech Eng, with a 2.8/5.0CGPA.. I intend settling in Dublin afterwards.. Pls I humbly ask for your advice on preferred schools from my peeps over there.. Sincerely appreciate
Why not try national college of Ireland asap..and u can still make it for this January ooo if u can get all ur documents ready asap!!!!.u will just need ur English test for visa application only.. I will advice u just write PTE academic as u just need 30 for the visa application and am sure u will get more than that. Just quickly pm @icasng ASAP!!! AND SEE if u can still make it for January

If am getting you right, you studied Electrical engineering and intend studying project mgt?
And you are making enquires on job opportunities relating to renewable energy?

DBS is not the school for you then.

I already got an offer at DBS for an MBA in project management. Just looking to see my opportunities afterwards. Due to my project management experience, I’ll like to diversify from my core (Electrical Engineering) and go a bit into management thats why i chose the MBA with an option in project management

Thanks, first of all I don't think I want to Pm anybody, I'm here to get a public opinion of naija peeps already in Dublin,
Secondly, I don't just want to rush into any school or program because it's available, I need programs on the skill shortage, I think pharmaceuticals, nursing ( health related courses) engineering, IT etc. I was initially considering "pharmaceutical health technology" at Griffith but I was discouraged following the negative remarks about the school and its prospects on getting a job upon completion. I want to take my time since I have till September 2019.. Thanks @segunagagu for the advice on the PTE exam.. Heard about Trinity College Dublin, but I think it beats my budget .. Again, I intend settling in Dublin afterwards, I know it's not rosy over there, but I'm ready to face it, it's not any better here in naija either..

@GrasstoGrace. You said you don't want to pm anyone
So you think people have all the time to come here always just bcoz they are trying to help those in need of help in someways? . I even try reaching out to your mail so I could help with some information you need.
Because I am in Dublin and I am studying in NCI. I just wanted to help you but you obviously don't need one. You already sound like you know it all or you are to big to pm anyone here. Mind you I am not a guy i am a babe Incase. The person who ask you to go contact someone was only trying to help you out. Since you don't need one why not look elsewhere for information please.

Thanks for your cooperation

I have not seen any particular bad review on Griffith. So far, Griffith has the highest number of Nigerian students in Ireland. Griffith also is one of the very few schools in the world to have ACCA platinum accreditation.

Peeps say most employers don't really consider certificates from Griffith, and I hear how difficult it is getting a job with its certificate, pls this is just based on speculations, I'm here to learn

Hi to everyone and all the gurus in the house.

(I might not be on the right thread to ask this question, please kindly re-direct me)

I've been searching for accommodation for quite some time now...Next semester (starting 24th January 2019) I am supposed to go to Dublin City University for an exchange semester. I've really tried daft.ie, rent.ie, I'm almost running mad lol cry

I can do shared flats, shared house, student halls, one-bedroom flat...Please any recommendations will help abeg

Pls, does any female need a roommate in Dulin?

I feel this info might be beneficial to someone here.

My roommate is graduating this January and will be retiring back to his country. In lieu to the difficulty in securing accommodation here in Dublin, any prospective male student that is interested can replace him. The accommodation will be available from the 15th of January, 2018 but he is willing to move out if the person taking the accommodation is coming earlier than that date. The house rent is £430 monthly + £30 for utilities, making it £460 monthly. It's a 2-bed space, very neat and the house has every modern facility a house should have. It's a first come, first serve basis. I am placing this here cause I need a brother from my own country in same apartment with me..lol.

NOTE: Please DO NOT pay anyone upfront from Nigeria at the moment for accommodation. You ought to inspect the accommodation and if it's suitable to your taste before you pay. I am saying this so that no one here will fall prey to scam artists mascurading as students studying presently in Ireland and wanting to offer assistance.

Please is your offer still valid? I have to be in Dublin (DUblin city university) for an exchange semester starting 24th Jan.
thanks

Given the difficulty in finding accommodation, I think it is better you secure one beforehand cause it is very likely that you stay in a hotel for WEEKS once you're there

Check Griffith Hostels or send them an email. They have hostels and you could book for a short stay.

Else, check booking.com to reserve temporary hostel for a week or 2 and you can sort the rest out on arrival.

Cheers

The 3,000 euro requirement is only for students who did not require a visa to come to Ireland because their finances were already assessed at the Irish embassy in their home countries.
ICaSNg:
TGIF!!!

Congrats to all those who have secured their visas. Gentle reminder on the following:

1. Make arrangements for your airport pick up especially if your University provides such for free.
2. Book temporary hostel for a week or two if you intend living off campus * You may be required to present this at the point of entry
3. GNIB / IRP will cost you 300 euros in Ireland
4. Accommodation in Dublin and Cork costs 450 euros to 700 euros
5. New rules apply if you want to travel for holidays during your academics.
6. casual job is important , but relevant job experience is importanter.
7. You are required to have 3000 euros to process your IRP.

N.B: Academic work is intense abroad and quite different from what we've done in Nigeria thus, time management is very important.

Wishing you all success. The sky is just the beginning.
From us all at ICaS-Nigeria.

In ranking, it ranks higher than DBS and many other schools in Ireland. Yet, no one has posted to say employers discrimate those certificates. I am not in Ireland though.
