A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has fixed 7th of January 2019 for the ruling of a case filed by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, seeking the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to recognise any candidate from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State for the 2019 general elections. Presiding judge, Justice J. K Omotosho gave the date after hearing the submissions of the parties involved in the matter. Counsel to PDP, Ferdinand Orbih who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in his argument had asked the court to order INEC not to recognise any candidate of APC in the state and based his argument on decision of the state high court But counsel to APC, Olaotakan SAN referred the Court to Section eighty-seven-one of the Electoral Act which bars another party from interfering in Internal Party Affairs. In a related development, a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has set aside 7th of January 2019 for ruling on a case filed by Senator Magnus Abe, and forty six others against the Independent National Electoral Commission and National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress. Earlier, the court granted application for joinder by all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State. Meanwhile, the Tonye Cole campaign organization says they are not worried about the ruling of the Court of Appeal after striking out their appeal on Wednesday. The Chairman of Tonye Cole campaign organization, Chidi Lloyd said they will continue with their campaign ahead of the 2019 general election. Lloyd stated that the primaries that brought Tonye Cole as APC gubernatorial candidate was done within the ambits of the law. “The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt today 12-12-18, dismissed the two applications brought before it by Pst. Tonye Cole & the other candidates on the one hand & the party executives led by Hon. Ojukaye Flag- Amachree & his executives on the other hand who were not parties in the matter before justice chiwendu Nworgu of the port Harcourt High court but were mentioned in judgement to join the appeal by the All Progressives Congress challenging the judgement at the intermediate court as interested parties . “The special panel also struck out appeal no. CA/PH/198/2018. Despite these set backs, it is important to state that, the Apc still has three subsisting appeals before the court of appeal namely: CA/PH/267/2018 CA/196/ 2018 and another, challenging representation by counsel and the jurisdiction of the court to enterining . “These appeals are all still alive and are pending before the court of Appeal, port Harcourt division and have not been determined. “Also note that the Supreme court today, heard some aspects of the the interlocutory appeal pending before it and have adjourned for judgement on 8/3/18. “I therefore, urge you to go about your campaigns diligently & prayerfuĺ in other to ensure 5 total victory, nothing great comes great,” he said. http://mcebiscoo.com/2018/12/14/no-need-panic-rivers-apc-campaign-organization-assures-supporters/ 1 Like

My mother is a staff of Ikpoba Okha Local government from Owan West Edo state. She is 48yrs on the 15th of this month is her Birthday. She is a single mother of one presently with me here in Lagos since April this year. She was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in April 2918. Presently, she goes for renal dialysis twice a week as against the recommended three times a week due to fund constraint. According to the doctors, she urgently needs a kidney transplant which can be done in India. The steps I have taken so far for a Fundraising is: I have written so many letters to the Edo state governor via Chief of staff, via ministry of women affairs & development via DHL and also through one uncle. Another letter to the deputy governor of Edo state I have contacted so many politicians in Edo state. I have the submitted requested documents to AIT Alagbado for announcement. I have written letter to Kokun, Williams Uchemba and KBK foundations I have contacted so many celebreties via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Even my Twitter has been suspended. Then Vanguard and the nation's newspaper have published it. Punch reporter came around to interview my mother and I at home and they promised to work on it soon. So far we have spent close to N1.2m on dialysis, blood transfusion, injections drugs, transportations and hospital admission. donation so far is around N420k As I type now we have just N16k left not even enough for another section of dialysis and she is due for dialysis and blood transfusion as her pcv is below 25. One major challenge I do face is that, people don't believe me they don't even take time to read my messages cus many are scared that I'm a scammer which I have never done before. I have taken her to Churches too. Pastors have also prayed for her on phone. Some pastor from nairaland here who saw my story. Nairalanders I'm on my knees begging you all to kindly assist me financially again to enable me take her to hospital for dialysis and the blood transfusion though from Apollo hospital India, they told us to budget like 12m naira for a kidney transplant we have a donor already(me). No need for that as the Rivers APC intraparty power tussle have effortlessly helped to put them in a political culdesac-they are not fielding any candidates for the 2019 elections as is the case also in Zamfara State. APC's problem started with Amaechi while Abe is about to end it. Amaechi should have allowed Abe contest the primaries in peace. Amaechi had all the structure to ensure that his man Cole beat Abe in the primaries but his ego for the better of him. He was like "how dare Abe go against my word, he must not contest " Abe on the other hand liaised with very powerful opposing forces within the state, using the judiciary to sabotage everything Amaechi's camp did. The fight has gone too far to retreat, and APC will not have candidates for 2019. Even if Abe and Amaechi come to a consensus, Wike and PDP already have them where they want them. That is why Wike and PDP have joined in on the legalities. 3 Likes |
