Hyundai has developed a fingerprint recognition system which allows drivers to unlock and start their cars without the need for a conventional key. It is due to be launched in China during the first quarter of 2019 and will appear first on the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

Drivers will register their fingerprint to the car before using the system. Fingerprint scanners in the door handle and on the car’s start button will then recognise the driver when used, granting access and starting the engine.

Multiple drivers can register their fingerprints and Hyundai says that the system will automatically adjust the driving position, mirrors, climate control and steering settings according to each individual user.

You don't understand. Someone can cut off your finger or hand at gun point (that is if you refuse to unlock the car) , and while it's still fresh, use the fingers to unlock the car right there in your presence and make away with your car. And you my friend will remain fingerless or handless.

Someone can equally threaten you with death to unlock your car with a password

But at least you will unlock it and probably still have your body intact. That is if the robber is compassionate.

But imagine a situation whereby the robber doesn't know which of the fingers you unlock your car with. Na to dey cut the fingers one after the other. Lol

However, nice innovation. Sometimes I just which I am Asian. These Asians are proving to be a super breed.

Is this good or bad? Because stealing a car is as simple as cutting off the owner's finger even from his or her sleep to some people.
