Apparently the Brigadier-Gen doesn't know the difference between war and suicide mission. War entails heavy armory, air support and tactical missions. Giving a soldier one clip of bullets to go against well-armed Boko boys is a suicide mission.

Long story short: Soldiers don't want to pay the ultimate price for their country. Why? Nothing to worth sacrificing, not even fowl, because of the way the country is structured and govern. Americans can die for their country because their society is just and anybody can attain any position, no magomago. The freedom is there and they rather die than allow anybody take it away from them. And if you happen to die defending your country your loved ones get what they are statutorily entitled to. So who won't want to die for such country. The closest we had was Biafrans fighting to die for their nation, and many of them died happily. So in this country one section and religion seem to dictate what happens, who will want to die for such country except those that benefit from the statuesquo? The problem is not necessarily about moral, lack of weapon or even the possibility of death is about not having any reason to die for the country. Apt and true dissection of the problem. Coupled with the fact that most of these soldiers didn't go there to lay down life "for country and king", poverty, nepotism, politics and a lot of others factors greatly influence enlistment into the army.
