Distribution Of N500bn Palliatives Skewed Against North – Kano Governor

The mode of distribution of the federal government’s N500 billion palliatives for small-scale industries in the country is not fair to the North, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has said.

The governor who spoke through his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam in Kano yesterday, said the distribution was heavily in favour of Lagos State and the South-South zone.

The federal government had announced support for small-scale industries across the geopolitical zones through the Bank of Industry.

The deputy governor’s press secretary, Ibrahim Shu’aibu, quoted the governor as saying that according to the mode of distribution of the fund, Lagos would be allocated 47%, the South-South will get 17% while other regions will receive lower amounts.

Governor Yusuf said at a meeting with representatives of the Kano Cooperative Society at Government House in Kano that this is unfair, unconstitutional and illegal.

He urged the National Assembly and other relevant authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible while rectifying the situation.

Should the South begin to lament that the bulk of the $800m is going to Kano...1 million plus,Kebbi...1 million and one other northern state...1 million plus.
The Southern states of Ekiti...152,000 plus,
Enugu...153,000 and Bayelsa...another less than170,000.All not up to half of the nmoey Kano is entitled to.
Just look at how much only Kano state is devouring.

These are loans for SMEs and the vast majority are in the south. The Kano governor does not complain when the VAT generated grom these companies in the South, us shared to the North.
If he wants equity, it should be across the board. Let all states keep the VAT they generate.

The money $800million to be borrowed by nigeria government is to be paid mainly from your crude proceed where do you have crude?south or north?
