this man is old enough to be hakeem's father, He is ENI NJOKU JNR. the son of the first VC of UNILAG AND UNN, Professor Eni Njoku. He should be in his 60s now.

Yeah...he's actually really a big deal, he's fondly called the "Guardian of the galaxy" grin,

Blacks are always so underrepresented, from George Washington Carver to the black women who worked as mathematicians at NASA in the early 20th century, to James West, who co-invented the microphone and those whose impressive scientific records have nearly languished in obscurity.

Hakeem is as big as they come!!
No one will promote you, but yourself...

Black folks need to promote each other and our achievements, the white folks aint gonna do that for us...

that's the problem with ngbatis. when we sincerely try to celebrate you guys, you begin to claim superiority.

Have you heard of Eni Njoku jnr.? the first NASA scientist from Nigeria? infact he rose so high that he won various group NASA award and was inducted as a visiting fellow of MIT's Faculty, something very rare with blacks.

I'm not being sentimental , when I read comments on Nairaland , or anywhere else , disregarding any tribe I try very much not to comment so that I don't come off looking like them. From where I'm seated I don't really see a difference in both your actions

I'm done with your self-righteous stance. I'm now evil because I returned the favor to a knucklehead? thank you.

Check his Florida Tech email. I won't display it here. Just google his name and FIT.. Email him and express your ambition. Tell him you will like to do your Masters and PhD research under his tutelage. Apply for Masters at FIT. Don't tell him you only want to have Masters. Tell him you want to get your PhD. Find his past research works online and say something that will interest him. You can reach out to him before or after you apply to FIT. Baba, if I were you, I will start my application to his school first before I reach out to him. This will show I'm serious. This has worked for many Nigerians..Also, research Florida Tech. I'm very sure one Nigerian will be doing PhD there..If you see any on there website, write the person and keep in touch. He will guide you better..Also,visit Nairaland USA student page. That will extremely help you...Start now. Start studying for Toefl and GRE. They are not difficult.
Thank you boss for helping a brother God bless you plenty. I will do just that. cheers Boss

Hakeem Muata Oluseyi is not a Nigerian or of Nigerian ancestry. He was born James Edward Plummer, Jr. He is an African-American who changed his name during his graduate study at Stanford.

Read his TED Fellows interview (https://blog.ted.com/rise-of-a-gangsta-nerd-fellows-friday-with-hakeem-oluseyi/).

"...But in the end, Art’s support changed it for me. It was like two different lives. I ended up changing my name from James Edward Plummer to reflect how my life had changed so drastically. I wanted my middle name to reflect how I am. So my middle name is Muata and it means “He seeks the truth.” I wanted my first name to reflect what I want to become. My first name Hakeem means “wisdom.” And my last name is from the West African Yoruba people, and it means “God has done this.” "

It is common in the United States for African-Americans to change their names from their "slave names" to names of African origin.

You are very correct. People like him don't even share anything with Nigeria apart from their names.
CityNGR:
My Igbo blodas now
ChiefAzubuike:
Because he bears a Nigerian name doesn't mean he's Nigerian. He might only have naija ancestors.

If you watch discovery channel 136 on DSTV well,.then you should be familiar with this boy.
