Its perfectly understandable why elampiro and nyabinghi would want to turn United to old people's home and have Valencia continue at RB.
Wetin una expect from people that wanted Schweinsteiger and Rooney to continue till they were in crutches and rolling around in a wheelchair??

When we should be binning old and underperforming players let's keep holding on to them. The exact same thing that got us into our current state when all our good players like Vidic, Ferdinand, Scholes, etc. begin old finish

Nah I think Shaw is good. The two just need to work more with each other. Another thing is that I don't think Shaw has faith in Martial defensive drive. If Shaw is caught higher up the pitch than Martial, does he trust Martial to hunt down and cover for him in case there's a counter? I don't think Martial can do that often. For this to work, the attack has to be perfect, no one should lose the ball carelessly. Now this is where the job is. The whole team still need to work more on this. Those careless passes should be cut to the barest minimum. Most of our attacks should either end in goal kick, corner kick, throw in or goal, so that our fb can get back in place

Elampiro, about Lingard, he's better than the options we currently have, especially Mata. But what about outside the club? Are there better options or he's irreplaceable?

Yea..you're right tho... But is it only me but I still demand more maturity from rash, his decision making is still suspect,he often runs into traps and should know when to pass when on the ball,I hope ogs works on him well...we need to win spurs to send a strong message

Can't believe i ever doubted the guy. Just need a world class CB playing along side him. Dude has come a long way since his error at Huddersfield last season.

Yeah Rash has a lot to learn. I believe OGS knows this and his working on it. He finished that goal calmly yesterday, but he has been known to rush it recently. So that's an improvement.

We need that Spurs win and we will get it, fvck spurs

He has this calmness on the ball that’s lacking in all of our CBs. One thing I like about him is the fact that his first instinct is not to boot out the ball, he will rather look for available channel to pass too than boot the ball away. He can only get better with an experienced and matured World class CB beside him.

We got our own ball playing CB.

That Shaw and Valencia weren't adventurous yesterday might just be a tactical move to prevent crosses from coming in...We all know that if Rondon had the supplies coming in, he would have definitely scored, that guy is a beast of a CF.
NB: I am not holding brief for Valencia but let's also consider he has been out for long... A new contract? Hell naw!

On Martial, I hope he improves his off the ball runs, he always wants the ball to be played to feet and that makes it easy for the full backs playing against him. In the first half yesterday, Mata lofted a beautiful pass which he was supposed to run into but he didn't read it because he wanted the ball to feet. If he improves his runs, he will become more dangerous and will definitely score more.

I think Sanchez is done playing as a LWF, he looked very good playing through the middle...
We can try him out there behind Martial and Rashford against Spurs or start Lingard.

True. Shaw is getting lackadaisical. I've seen it in his last couple of games. It's annoying. That dude is not serious.

The first thing that made me happy was;for the first time in a long time,a team used five defenders against us. Shows fear.

Lukaku looks sharp. Martial hasn’t been up to his level last two matches. Shaw also had a fair game.

Good win anyway. Mae we just beat spurs chai
This is how to read football.

I look at long term performance in combination with other factors to judge which players are good or bad.

Lingard is more consistent than Martial and Rashford. In fact, after DDG, Lingard has been the most consistent in years. He might not have great skills like the rest, but he is consistent at what he does for the team. Off the ball, he is working covering potential space the opponent are trying to use. While we are in possession, he does not hide. He also drives the ball forward well between players.

Martial is super man in only 30% of his games. He needs to rais it to 50%, then more. Rashford has been super in the new set up, but let's hope it continues because I doubt his maturity.

they were begging Valencia to push up at some point today.
He seemed confused af.
Didn't know when to push or fall and was ultimately in no mans land on several occasions.

I don't know if it's lack of match fitness or sharpness or he is just completely and totally finished.. Whatever it is, I hope he never starts for us again, especially when Mata is on the pitch
One match and you write this? You fall hand. Mata has played his best football for United with Valencia behind. Mata has struggled playing in front of anyone else.

Matic, Pogba, Rashford mainly should be rested while the likes of Perreira and co play.
Matic and Pogba cannot take leave same it. It should be slow rotation.

That was not a good call by OGS as neither Mata and Valencia can beat their man 1v1 on the outside and whip in good crosses consistently.
Anytime we start those 2 together the right side will be dead.
This is untrue. If Lukaku did not score, Newcastle would never have opened that end. Mata cannot beat, but Valencia can beat with speed if he gets his match rhythm. However, yesterday, Rafa Benitez, an experienced tactician, blocked United from playing normal football Ole brought. I actually thought Ole made a mistake with Sanchez. It should have been Lingard coming on. The fortunate goal for Lukaku saved us, cos even Sanchez would have been silenced like Martial.

valencia's first game and a clean sheet
I tire for them o. The truth is, with scores at 0-0, we looked more vulnerable on Luke Shaw side. It was like a matter of time before one of the run behind him got well utilized. Most of the crosses from the right were stamped against Valencia's body in only his first game.

None of those guys is turning 34 this year.
He was already showing signs before he got injured.

I really don’t know why you guys want to be hanging on to this overaged full backs that now offer little going forward.
The issue is not age or what they should play next season. The issue is about the squad and games this season. We will talk about next season.

We will know when VALENCIA or/and YOUNG needs to give way. For now they block no one's chances. Dalot is cannot displace anyone of them yet. We saw Dalot vs Valencia in the begging of the season when Val was fit, no comparison.

we have more than enough cover at RB tbh. Young, Dalot and Darmian are all currently better alternatives.
Darmian has impressed me everytime I've seen him this season.
He is going to be a decent player for the club in Italy that signs him
Only Young can challenge a fit Valencia at right back.

Darmian just try to cope in a match. Mostly on the right. He has done some job on the left.

Dalot is not ready yet to play at this level.

Linderlof actually won 1 tackle. Who composed this kind of stat.

He did very well though, but again he was moved to RCB after a very poor outing in LCB last weekend.

Even Jones that they said did not play well, also won 1 tackle.
Linderlof 0 interception. Jones 2 interceptions won. I actually saw those two times he intercepted after Shaw had been displaced. But I don't know if people do not watch ball as I do. Jones still had the highest pass accuracy in the game apart from Lingard who had 100%

Lindelof is the best ball playing centre back, that is not disputable. But at the moment he is now where near our best centre back if everyone is playing at their best with fitness.

Even both have 5 long passes each and Jones completed more % of his long passes.

We have to be patient for these players to play many matches in the new set up. Before Ole played his first match, people already listed Valencia, Matic, Fellaini, Jones, Young, Lingard, Lukaku, Mata to be sold. I think they are trying to justify their suggestions by highlighting every mistake made by these guys.

I have told you guys before, when you see a coach plays two central defenders with same foot (righted foot CDs in this case) and one is made to play in the opposite side in the RCB & LCB arrangement, the coach actually thinks that one is the stronger or better. The exception is be that the other defender cannot do anything at all with his other foot. But that is not the case here, because Linderlof is the better footballer between the two.

Since SAF, Jones has been made to play on the left almost all the time when paired with another right footer. Last weekend, Bailly started on the right and Lindelof on the left. Bailley got sent off late and Jones finished from the right. One would have thought that Jones would continue from the right, but the coaches re-arranged. Linderlof made three great mistakes that day. Two could have resulted to easy goals. One a missed header inside the box without any iota pressure. I think it was Bailly who quickly reacted to the dropped ball.

To me, I have to wait and see more about these players.

Give Jones time he will do well. I hope he doesn't go to injury soon because I don't know why he was rested in the previous game. Or may be Ole was trying out a new setting.

Lindelof was more woeful in the previous game though. There was no pressure in that game.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 11:52am On Jan 03, 2019
As for me I will not assess any of players with what they played in the last 5years when we had oluwamoyes, LVG and That fraud.

I will start assessing them from now that we seem to be playing what we all believe is the united way, let us see who can cope with attacking football and precise and relentless pressing.

The last 3 coaches actually made good players look like pub players because of their tactics and demeanor.

Make we dey watch we go see who suppose waka and who suppose stay, we will know who just had a bad day at the office or who does not really fit after a good run of games.

See how Rashford, Matic, Lindeloff, pogba, Herrera and even Martial and shaw have improved. Young looking like a young boy again and Lukaku a supersub grin

I can't question his talent, I know he does his bit. What I question is availability. If he's up for selection 70% of the time, I have no problems with him.

Your narrative about coaches preferring the better play to feature at the LCB is false. Rio Ferdinand partnered Wesley Brown, Johnny Evans, Paddy McNair, John O'Shea; and non was a better player than him.
