Last night, Nigerian singer and rapper, Viktoh who was signed on to Olamide's YBNL for many years was assaulted by officers of the Lagos State Police command.

In his first tweet after the incident, Viktoh said, 'I kept on tweeting and fighting against this police brutality but you guys ignored me now it has happened to me and someone is saying I never did something about it? This is sad'.

It’s sad. People found the brutality funny. Like seriously? How’s it even funny? Someone just got brutalitied by the police for no reason and everybody making jokes out of it? Really? Is this what humans have been reduced to? Gosh!

I do not know any period in Nigeria since I became big enough to know things that there never was brutality.

But it took on a new scale when BUHARI came to power in 1983.

First time to see female University students being asked to disembark from public transport buses and frogmarched through muddy puddles. Just for wearing miniskirts and regular body hugging clothes common then. Mostly by Northern soldiers barely able to speak any English.

They brought Sharia mindset to the South. Police soon joined in of course. The long military regime era till 1999 only furrter enhanced that brutality.

We cannot progress like this.
