But i will leave you in the able hands of rvp20183

Nairobi only has CCTVs in the CBD and few parts of central Nairobi.

Nairobi & Mombasa are covered by smart CCTVS and more than that. That is why terror activities became alien and crime is under control. The whole project cost 150M dollars - was finance by Safaricom license fee for 4G - and was executed by Huwaei.

Huwaei won awards for rolling out that system in Nairobi & Mombasa.

"Huawei’s deployment of a new communications network, which links over 1800 surveillance cameras with 195 bureaux and 7600 police officers in Nairobi, is of great strategic importance in terms of national and economic security. The National Police Service Commission of Kenya, for example, has a high-speed private broadband network that partly relies on the company’s propriety wireless enhanced long-term evolution (eLTE) solution.

“The wireless infrastructure links the National Police Service Commission’s command centres with over 1500 high-definition cameras in downtown Nairobi. Furthermore, it supports more than 200 cameras that are installed at city checkpoints and several wireless devices distributed to officers in the field,” said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst, Joanita Roos. “Thus, authorities can conduct panoramic video surveillance of Nairobi’s urban centre, as well as maintain a highly-agile command and dispatch setup that runs on satellite-based global positioning system (GPS) and software-based geographic information system (GIS).”

Nigeria's telecom sector even contributes about 10% to GDP

But you are always so quick to Cry Oil like a little kid.

I hope our fertility rates lowers a bit more. Economic and GDP growth should be in tandem with the population growth or better still surpass it. Kenya should still check on its growing population even though our fertility rates have lessen down through the years, we need a 100% family planning roll out.

A high dependency ratio is one of the most profound hiccups facing developing nations. We should have more adults working in the economy than the number of children. People with an iota of brain or some education will get what I'm saying. A little bit of knowledge in demography will help someone understand the need of keeping population growth in check!
rvp20183:
Arguing with an idiot is very tiring. The structure of the population is important. You can be 100K - but if every one has 10 kids - no way youll be rich. China has on average 1-2 kids. The same with US. In fact I doubt there is rich country on this planet where people have more than 2 kids on average. The rest is mainly about geography, boundary and climate.

Show me a rich developed country where people have more than 2 kids. Start from Africa. Southern African countries and Northern countries have 1-2 children and are richer - whether it's 60M South Africa or 2M Namibia. The structure of the population is important. Not how big or small.

Total fertility in 2018. You can see KENYA stick out right there - because of our HEAVY INVESTMENT in family planning - from having highest fertility in 70s and 80s - to that - VERY IMPRESSIVE. Now watch us become a developed nation as you breed like Nigeria rats

The Kenya Open golf challenge will be part of the European golf tour just like the likes of Dubai Desert classic and the rest.

Why should news of the European Tour grab your attention? For one, the calibre of players who will be coming to Kenya for this event will be at the very top of the global ladder. Members of the European Tour include the likes of Rory McIlroy, Ernie Els, Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood, Aaron Rai, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Thomas, Braden Grace, Henrik Stenson, Shubankar Sharma, Matt Wallace among others. And whilst not all the top players will choose to come and play in the Kenya Open, those who do come will be from the very top shelves of the golfing world. Secondly, the Kenya Open will be transmitted live around the globe to more than 490 million homes.
The impact expected from this live transmission on Kenya’s brand image globally and more specifically on our golf tourism offering will be high.
Later on the year, in July, the Karen Masters, which is now a full member of the Sunshine Tour, will be held, and again, this rapidly growing event will put Kenya back on the golfing map.
By the way, and this is a story for another day, Kenya’s top golf resort, Vipingo Ridge will very shortly be staging a top-class invitation ladies event featuring some of the top names from around the world and who play on the very apex of the Ladies European Tour. For those doubting it, let me repeat that — in early February, the Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge will host an Invitation ProAm event bringing together some of the world’s top lady golfers. If your wife, daughter, sister or mother plays golf, I suggest you call Vipingo Ridge right now and book a slot or prepare divorce papers — the choice is clearly yours.
This ladies Invitation will be live across some channels globally and again this will turn the eyes of the golfing fraternity to Kenya increasing our brand value and hopefully driving golf tourism numbers.
Wasn’t lying when I told you this would be a good year for golf was I?

This is a big win for 'Brand Kenya' our golf and tourism in general!

Hope it wipes the shame of Nigeria exporting oil and importing refined oil; the only large oil producing country to do that. But don't be too excited...theoritically nigeria has refineries with capacities of 450K barrels a day - but they will be happy to do 20% of that.

What is the impact on crime. Installing CCTVs is part of the solution. You need an integrated approach like in Nairobi. It has go beyond camera - you need smart cameras with facial recognition, with number plate recognition, you need police officers armed with gis enabled video enabled gadgets, you need the whole shebang. That is why we invested 150M usd...which in Naira would be like nearly 600B NAIRA!

Can Lagos state afford to invest 600B Naira on smart security systems like Nairobi & Mombasa?

Our policing has greatly improved. Police have brand new cars because we no longer buy them but lease them - and they are operational 24-7s. We have hired more police and are about UN recommended size.

Our police have health and life insurances. Their terms of services have improved greatly.

And now we are digitizing police - all police are going to be computer trained - OB (occurrence book) and all police work will be digitized.

Yes they are still corrupt and thuggish - we have vetted and fired the really bad ones - but ultimately that challenge we will confront - easily when we have all these stuffs in place.

Otherwise nearly every serious private or public premise in any city now has CCTV - so installing CCTV - without monitoring center - or number plate recognition or facial recognition - is not helpful.

Are you alright at all,why did yo think we suspended Vehicle inspection office.

See your childishness, trying to make me feel Nairobi is developed and advanced and making me feel Nairobi is richer than Lagos.
When Lagos economy alone is bigger than whole Kenya, you simply lack knowledge of basic economics, you are still comparing currencies by mere denominations, instead of Purchasing power parity.

So if you split your money into pieces and it is almost same as dollar and more than Chinese yuan means your economy is better than China's(what a childish thinking)

I told you Lagos alone is better than whole Kenya.
Lagos for instance banned the use of VIOs to give room for technology to help monitor and inspect vehicles, use technology to beat traffic

Now just use this as key word on Google and come back with the answer
" Ambode bans VIOs, to replace them with technology"

You went ahead of even saying monitor control centre.
For God's sake why will there be CCTVs without monitoring centres.
