Ahead of this year’s general elections, Dr. Harry Oranezi, Director-General of Atiku-Obi Campaign Organization, has warned the Anambra governor Willie Obiano to stop campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Igbere TV reports that Oranezi’s warning came following recent comments credited to Obiano wherein he stated that Buhari had done well for the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones for commencing work on the second Niger Bridge.

The governor also reportedly hailed Buhari for completing the Zik mausoleum in Onitsha, otherwise known as Zik Place, awarded 22 years ago, but abandoned by successive administrations.

He said Obiano’s support for Buhari ran “counter to the collective and corporate interests of the Igbo.”
Oranezi said: “Obiano support for Buhari is in utter disregard to his (Buhari’s) penchant to marginalise and discriminate against the people of the South-East and Anambra State in particular.

“Buhari has continued to maintain studied silence over the massacre of innocent South Easterners in the North, strategic exclusion of Southeast in rail connection, security architecture of the country and sundry appointments.

“The Igbo’s shall not be deceived by the actions and utterances of persons who want to achieve ill-conceived objectives.

Obiano had expressed satisfaction with the standard and pace of work on the Second Niger Bridge as he also thanked the Buhari administration for completing the Zik Mausoleum.
The Mausoleum is located at the popular Borome in Onitsha, the commercial nerve of Anambra, and home of the first President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Obiano spoke during visits to the mausoleum and the Second Niger Bridge.
He said the completion of the mausoleum by the Buhari administration was an immeasurable honour to Anambra people and the entire South-East people.

Obiano said that previous administrations paid lip services to the project, resulting to its abandonment for more than 20 years.

The governor also appealed to the Federal Government to step up action in the procurement of necessary facilities for the library section.

He said it would be nice to have everything in place before the visit of Mr President to Anambra in a few weeks’ time for the inauguration of the mausoleum.

“President Buhari is determined to keep to his promises on the Zik’s mausoleum.
“ The project is an honour to Zik of Africa, who played major roles in shaping the nation.
“This project started 23 years ago and we must thank President Buhari for keeping to his words,’’ Obiano said
The governor was visibly happy with the extent of work done so far at the site of the second Niger Bridge.
He said he was confident that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari would deliver on the job as scheduled.

He noted that the bridge, when completed, would not only boost the economic activities of the South-East and South-South but that of the whole country.

“I have no choice than to praise President Muhammadu Buhari for his determination in the implementation of other federal government projects in the state and other states in the region,” he said.
The Project Director, Julius Berger Construction Company, Mr Fredrick Wieser, explained that the construction would be in three phases.

Wieser noted that the federal government has already made advance payment of 15 per cent which amounted to N30 billion as mobilisation fee.

According to him, the bridge will be 1.6 km, while the access road from Asaba axis will be 3.3 km and 7km from Anambra respectively.

“Right now, we are doing foundation work in the river which will be 50 metres deep.
“The pilling work in the river will be 15 metres above water level to allow free flow of ships,’’ he said.

He, however, pointed out that with the determination of the present administration, the project would be delivered on or before Feb. 28, 2022.

Some people are stupid. How can the mere fact that Obiano said that he is happy with with some projects of Buhari suddenly translate to political support?

So once a person says Buhari is feeling well, that means the person is working for Buhari

Atiku and Obiano don't belong to the same party so what right has Atiku got to expect support from Obiano.

APGA already has a presidential candidate so Buhari and Atiku should not expect Obiano to work for either of them

Obiano and Peter Obi are enemies. Peter Obi worked against Obiano and worked for PDP during the last governorship election in Anambra. This is payback time. Anyone that expect Obiano to work for Atikuloot / Obituary is not only naive but also stupid.

Obiano just want to cut a deal for himself. He knows where the pendulum is swinging (PDP's way), therefore he wants PDP to negotiate.

Just like a woman that wants a man to woo her...she will pretend to be hard to get. grin

They should carry him along and see him play ball.

These people are senseless

How does saying someone has done something good mean one is campaigning for buhari ?

Even if he collects his own share of the campaign funds and prints posters it doesn't mean they will vote for buhari

Isn't that not what they did in 2015 to GEJ? I support anyone who campaigns for buhari if paid to do so, please earn your money collect your share but on that day vote for anyone else ..

After all we did the same thing to GEJ. Please do not stop anyone from making money from APC , but on that day the fact is everyone will vote someone else

Buhari is a thief so let us also steal from him

That's the best way.. collect his money come online shout SAI baba but on that day do the needful and vote him out grin

We did in in 2015 , I was part of a group we all wore GEJ t-shirts , we did all that was asked , we mobilized crowd at every stadium but we also all knew that we are voting him out

Abeg make your cash jare .

No one should reject money to work or campaign for buhari but on that day we all know what to do grin

Peter Obi worked for PDP in 2015 and he's reaping the reward now. Obiano decided to go the opposite way in 2019 and that shouldn't be a big deal.

BTW, Lauretta Onochie and Reno Omokri are active members on Nairaland. cool

But they said Atiku has SE on lockdown

See this frustrated element threatening Obiano. Dumb Ipob pig threatening a sitting Governor.

Obiano is in APGA and Atiku is not Apga's candidate. He's free to support whoever he wants to. Let him go and meet Ugwuanyi, Ikpeazu and Umahi who are PDP Governors and have refused supporting Atiku.

Last election in Anambra, PDP came third. This one, Sowore would beat Obi in Anambra. grin

The way journalist write is just nonsense. Atiku did not say anything, just because one person related to atiku said something does not mean that is the official or personal position of Atiku. Why can't you write Dr. Harry Oranezi knocks Obiano? That would have been more ethical.

My mind is telling me that it is the EFCC that is winning "souls" for APC. Unfortunately, they forgot that Buhari does not forgives. After the election they will all plead for sympathy when their tormentor starts with them.

Obiano is part of the South East Governor Forum, Dave Umahi is the Chairman of forum which means they both have some influence over the Governors in the forum; Both of them have also repeatedly showed solidarity to Buhari and the progressive's cause, which automatically means 2 out of the 5 South East states Atiku is counting on have Governors who are loyal to Buhari at the helm of affairs.
Even the South East's highest political office holder, Ekweremadu has been rumored to support Buhari.

I just smile when people say these guys are not important, they are irrelevant, they can only convince and control their family members and not the people, as if they don't know the massive resources and influence they have, and as sitting governors over the political machinery in their States.

Its going to shock Atiku ehn, when after everything, he's going to be the one that will get that 5% vote in the South East.
