SPECIAL APPEAL TO ALL NOUN LAW GRADUATES AND STUDENTS

We have achieved a very important milestone by the President's assent to the NOUN (Amendment Act) 2018. It has been a collective struggle and we can all see the Light at the end of the tunnel.

While congratulating all NOUN Law graduates and students on the progress made so far, it has become very expedient to appeal to everyone to exercise restraint and utmost caution in our publications, utterances and comments on the issue of Law School Admission. Some recent publications have not been helpful at all. They make resolution of the matter even more challenging. Pls we should be more careful with our publications and comments irrespective of the media we are using as the struggle has come a long way and we cannot afford to falter or fail at this stage. Let's cool things down and exercise some patience and allow the School Authority and CLE to sort out the matter. Good progress is already being made and unguarded utterances and comments are not helping the process.
The VC of NOUN has severally advised against making pronouncements and write-ups that are inimical and harmful to the struggle.
I therefore wish to sincerely appeal to the entire membership of NOULGA and all NOUN Law Graduates and Students to maintain an atmosphere that encourages communication between NOUN and CLE in order to expeditiously resolve the matter for the interest and benefit of all.

We are almost there and this is the time for co-operation with the school authority to achieve our common goal. Remember that there is a subsisting judgement that held that this matter is better resolved between Institutions. Pls let's allow some space for NOUN, HAGF and CLE to resolve this matter.
Special respect and regard to all primary stakeholders of this matter such as NOULGA, LAWSAN, Law Alumni, CONS and NANS. You have all done very well and should rightly be really proud of your actions and efforts. Perhaps without your collective efforts, we may not be where we are today.

However, let's build on our foundation by being patient at this stage and showing more understanding towards the resolution of the issue. I can assure everyone that this issue is receiving necessary attention at the highest level. It's not everything that we can publish here.
The NOUN Authority is working round the clock to ensure we hear some very Cheering News soonest. We need to give them our support and encouragement. Hostile, disrespectful and insulting phone calls to school authorities are unnecessary and unhelpful. I know and appreciate that some of us are hurting but that does not mean we should throw behavioural ethics to the wind. We should at all times conduct ourselves with utmost decorum and honour even in the face of unfairness and discrimination.

Law is a Noble Profession and we should always conduct ourselves as Honourable and Noble Gentlemen.
Let's heed to the VC's advise and refrain from making further unhelpful publications and comments on the issue of Law School Admission.
The Leadership of NOULGA has personally reached out to the Leadership of Other National Bodies of Law Students and Law Graduates and it is our hope that we all co-operate together with the School Authority by creating an enabling environment devoid of reckless publications and comments in order to achieve our desired goal soonest.
The ULTIMATE COMMON GOAL is Law School Admission for NOUN law Graduates in 2019.
At this juncture, I wish to say a Special Thank You and Happy New Year to all NOUN Law Graduates and Students especially those who have been in the fore front of the struggle.

Long Live NOULGA!
Long Live NOUN!!
Long Live NIGERIA!!!

More Grace and God Bless.

Signed: Alex E. Okonofua
DG, NOULGA

CC:
(1). NOUN, Vice Chancellor
(2). LAWSAN, National President
(3). Law Alumni, National President
(4). CONS, National President.
