Ask other companies who have tried TZ.TZ is like Nigeria.Big promise but big disappointment.South Sudan you just have to deal with illiterate thugs.TZ are anti kenyans..if you attempt to drive there..youll be stopped every police check and harassed. Any business investing in TZ is setting himself for failure..magufuli is the worst..at least Kikwete like Mkapa was reasonable. The current one is no better than Amin.Avoid TZ however cheap...or deal with them at arm length..let them bring their maize or beans or timber or fruits across the border.Their gov specifically targets kenyans. They rather South Africans screw them. You see someone confiscating masai cows and burning chicken.I am pretty sure Nakumatt $ ARM met their death there.Avoid TZ like you avoid Nigeria.Unless youre in daredevil. Imagine MTN debacle in Nigeria or Acacia minning in TZ...the lazy idiots can wake up and slap you with 10b dollars fine. They see you as cashcow..a ticket out of their poverty.Imagine TZ slapped Acacia minning with 190b dollar bills as tax. This country that struggle to collect 6-10b dollars a years in tax.You see kazikazi here and he is possibly the smartest in that country of idiots..and yet he is probably the most idiotic person here .
Tanzania isn't the same as Kenya.Don't forget that!

We are fighting corruption. We hate it! If you think you will come to TZ with fake investments, prepare to suffer. If you come with little money in Tz,prepare to be beaten by big boys from UK,SA,China etc

ARM cement they came with 250m dollars to invest in TZ.But little did they knew that France's lafarge have entered in Tz with big cash! Then there is Dangote, and the Chinese with 2b dollars cement plant. In this scenario how can a company with little cash survive?

Most Kenyans undermine TZ.They are too proud to learn. They think they will simply come to TZ and rule! What they don't understand is most TZ are suspicious of Kenyans. What Kenyans sow in the past against TZ,this is what they reap..suspicion!

These are the same Kenyans who claim mount Kilimanjaro is theirs! These are the same people who said in the past they can't unite with TZ cause its too poor. These are the same people who confiscated most of east African community's stuffs when the association was collapsing! These are the same people who were busy laughing at TZ when our economy collapsed after IDD amin war!

Instead of trying to mend the broken net,Kenyans prefer to speak no sense about TZ! Instead of taking their time studying our traditions, they come and want us to change to suit their way! No way! Tanzanians are mostly humble,we hate pride,we hate showing of,we don't like a black man who thinks is white! We dislike arrogance!

Kenyans should at least learn from white men who are residing in TZ.The whites respects our traditions. They try to speak Swahili. They are not quick to criticize. In short, they try harder to bend in.But Kenyans with their arrogance they think they are supreme beings just because they come to open a small supermarket called uchumi!

mumu. u lack comprehension skill, just like @jonraid.

Nigeria's debt is in excess of $60b doesnt mean nigeria is owing china $60b, there are many bodies a country borrows money from, not only china. Infact, china doesnt give loans, it has to be through a project their company will execute, i leave that for another day cos i dont expect u to grasp my point.

Nigeria's total debt (federal&states) is $73b, proclaimed to be 21% to gdp ratio.

Not that i expect u to understand but for d benefit of those who may understand.

You can try Algeria. They are on the nearly on the same output oil wise with you. You pip them in population but they have more advanced economy. Egypt whose economy is realistic 300B or around - have oil production of 0.6M barrels - mostly which they consume. So basically you only beat them in oil production by maybe 1M plus barrels. Egypt also boast 100M people and have advanced economy -backed by proper middle class - poverty has been eliminated there - and they don't overstate their GDP like Nigeria do. You sell 2M barrels then import back 8B worth of refined oil annually.
theenchanter:
sure, there are many 400b dollars economy, but they all have different contributors to d economy, naija's major revenue comes from oil.

South africa's economy is d most advanced in d continent. economy is not all about d GDP but sustainability of diff sectors, dont mistake economy for GDP. Different sectors like mining, manufacturing, agriculture e.t.c contributes to d economy. Now, south africa (in my opinion) ought to have gone past their present stage, SA was already ahead of even some european countries since the 80s in terms of economy and infrastructure, education and basic amenities.

Egypt is an ancient country, a place of civilization. Their economy was once like naija whereby they export minerals and import whever they need until their import substitution reforms of d 90s. Their economy is also advanced than naija's economy in that regard.

Naija on d other hand is still dependent on importation while exporting just oil and some agricultural products, i think naija was stagnated by military rule of close to 33years, naija is just a country whose economy is dependent on oil but i think d drive to diversify d economy is gainning momentum.

U dont compare economy of countries by checking n balancing their gdp, if u try that method between saudi arabia(oil based economy) and switzerland, u'll also think saudi arabia's gdp (not economy) is fake.

have u seen d projection by IMF for 2019?

Our finance minister projected 2.1% growth, IMF projected 2.4% growth for naija in 2019.

If either of d projection should be genuine, its a good one, naija is not focused on oil again but msme.

Algeria, advanced economy grin do u even know d meaning of advanced economy? Algeria is also an oil based economy, their only advantage is they have lesser population to cater for.

Egypt's economy is i said earlier is a lil bit advanced, cos they're not heavily dependent on importation, they're still dependent on oil and gas exportation nonetheless.

And no, I'm not sure there's any african country that has eliminated poverty, it just ranges differently for different countries.

I disagree. It nearly impossible for a country to become middle class with 3 kids on average - that way too much dependacy ratio.Unless the country was to hit a natural resource jackpot. The only way to avoid the middle trap is to invest in high quality of education and compete in high tech stuff. China will likely avoid middle income trap because they are transitioning to high tech stuff.
India's average fertility rate lies between 1.8 to 2.3 and for Kenya might be 2.5 to 3.
High tech stuff is indeed needed to avoid middle income trap but declining manpower is a bigger burden to economy.

All I'm saying that we both are perfect. Our fertility rate and population growth rates are favourable to our development stage and we should not try to push it further down artificially. It should decline with same speed as that of increment in our income levels otherwise growth will stop.

Same thing. You need production at 2.1M this year. So if you were to cut production - that mean your main sector will see struggling. I don't know about SMES - but you'd need to fix a lot - try to formalize your economy - try fix electricity.

Yes Kenya pop growth rate last I checked was 2.7% - I think the aim should be have pop growth around 1-2% - and then try to stick there. Anything less than 1% or a decline then become problematic. So if India is already on 2% - then it's indeed hit a sweat-pot demographically. Kenya need to further drop.

I think in summary India & Kenya will start to enjoy demographic dividend soon. I think in 10yrs - the current largest pop cohort in kenya (5-10) will exist childhood - and we should start seeing an inverted pop structure - rather than pyramid - and the result economic benefit at micro(family) and macro-level will be apparent.

That is Yemi Kale yarn.
"The country's economy has traditionally been dominated by oil and gas production (about 30–40% of pre-rebased GDP), but the rebasing revealed major growth in the services sector—including in telecommunications, banking, Nollywood, and the informal economy (which was previously unaccounted for in official statistics)."

I honestly don't see how telecommunication, banking, nollywood and informal economy(how do they measure it?) which appears to be twice kenya can be that huge. Kenya services sector is probably worth 60% of GDP - that is around 55B dollars..Nigeria service sector would be 2.5 times that - around 140B.Your agricluture is just overstated. Your manufacturing very puny. And then just add oil & gas industry.

Re-based GDP has two big lies
1) Agriculture is so over-stated it not even funny. Yemi Kale claims Nigeria has 80B dollars of Agriculture ( I am not talking Agriculture as industry - just basic crops & livestock production). That is size of Brazil - a well know tropical agricultural giant. How does Yemi Kale collect agriculture data - mostly through guesswork. Nigeria hardly export any food - apart from few cocoa nuts & shrimps.
2) Service sector is also inflated...nollywood & informal sector (how does that even work) smiley.

Ibrahimanis:

Oil dominates our export and a major source of revenue and foreign exchange for the government but service contributes more to GDP than oil.
