Its a very interesting topic and I've read some of the comments and I'll just add a bit.

Who ever told you that N600k is good to go is seriously lying. There's no way you won't spend at least N3m to N5m even for a hot bread shop!

I set up bakeries for a living, and I design and manufacture ROTARY OVENS here in Nigeria. I also own a bread shop at Abule Egba in Lagos where I have on of my ovens working. So I know what I'm talking about.

Please i will advice you to start small, bread business needs the owner to understand the nitty gritty of the biz, so that when you finally employ people in the future you will know what to expect from them. I will also advice you on the formular of your bread, it will stand you out in the future, don't just do what every other person does. I will also advice that you go for locally made gas oven as foreign one will be too expensive and the operation cost is almost the same for charcoal oven, secondly, there are some kind of bread that charcoal oven can't bake, for example those bread that are heavy, i don't know but i doubt if charcoal oven can do it. Please expect to make losses on the shirt term, have a back up source of income. Look for a good graphic desiner to package your nylon. In bread making, once you have started, make sure that you supply constantly. I will advice you like every other business persin to read books, start with e mirth for managers by michael garber .good nyt

Thanks a lot for yhur advice.

I have this strong desire for a bakery business and I am looking forward to starting one soon.

I was told by a member here that one could start a bakery business with 600k or even less. I need people who are into this business to please come in here and share their experiences and any helpful information for intending bakery owners here.

Please, I want this thread to be solely for those who have anything meaningful to contribute to the subject and not some unnecessary adverts and noise. Thank yhu all in advance.

yes You Can't Start With 600k or else your bakery house is on ground ,base On Modernise standard you wil need more than that ROLLER-N80,000 small,BIG ROLLER=180K, LISTER=100K, BREAD PAN For Little Like 2bags=50k Range ,building of bakery will require more money, you buy stainless bathub= 40k or 30k, TABLE needed, building of mod ovun =100k ,eletric= 500k/1m upward, FLOUR=N11,200 ,SUGAR=14500,EDC=KEG N36K,ALL INGREDIENT IN BULK will dol out N55K

Hmm, so many factors to consider oo. Unless you really really really want to start very small. Someone had already mentioned cost of mixer. What about oven which is about 8m. Depending on the size though. Cos the one we run in my school here is about that amount.

What's your source of light? Do you plan to get a Diesel Generator? Not to discourage you, but I think your budget is way too low.

Goodluck all the same!

Ah! Yhu jxt mentioned one of my biggest concern; Electricity!
It's actually one of the thinz I am putting into consideration. As for oven, I won't be spending that much for it. I have seen some very affordable ones during my findings.

I will still post some details later.

Actually, the original plan and budget was 2m but I was surprised when I ran into a thread here tht said 600k could start one. During the course of my finding I discovered it's very possible even wt a little lower than that but it's not the kind of standard I desire. Too much stress wt the local equipments.

Sir, if you want to make premium bread that stands out, then you must be concerned about the kind of equipment you use.

Its not so safe to grant access to your production area. People poach staffs and steal recipe etc

First of all, what type of bakery do you intend on opening. Is it just bread, small chops, cakes etc. I suggest you start small. I run a home bakery here in the North and for now, I only make cakes because I'm very good at it. Took me 50k to get all my starter baking equipment from Yola. I got an oven of 80k and Generator of 90k. To be honest when I entered cake house in Jimeta Market, I was confused. I had so much to buy with so little money, I almost cried. But I had to prioritize.
I went for hand mixer 8k instead of the smallest standing mixer there 19k. I got 4 pans, nozzle set, fondant equipment and much more. To be very honest with you I make nothing less than 70k on a very good week and 30 - 45k on a very bad week. I have a lot of customers and I deliver my best.

Now, you have way much capital than me when I started, you can do better. Work with what you have, work within your budget. Anyone telling you, you need mixer or oven of 500k to 1m is not good at giving advice. You can start at home, share flyers along your street and beyond. You will definitely get customers and as time goes on and you expand because you definitely will, you can now start buying sophisticated equipment one at a time.
God bless your hustle

I agree with you but be careful your post can lead people astray. Because many people will interpreted this that they need evil powers forgetting Jesus has all power.

And by the way some smart Lebanese men opposite uniben are cashing out daily. Based on their observable lifestyle they are not spiritually strong. So if you are going into business location is very important.
