Like I said earlier I feel there is a new policy with visa issuance at the USA embassy’s. Denial rate has sky rocketed. I have friends who have been going for years without any default. They have all been refused for no reason. Please a man who works in Shell can never have any intent to migrate without proper job at the USA. I agreed that Canada had to speak to the USA to revisit their visa issuance as people have been crossing into Canada from the USA and seeking asylum. In my opinion I think we should leave USA for now. They would calm down later.

FYI..as you were typing this, some people were there at the embassy getting their visas..

Not all schools or program have summer session. Also there are more funding and admission spaces in fall hence a more popular resumption time

That been said I seen people resume in summer. If that session works best for you then go ahead . Summer or fall? . It all depends on what works best for you

Hi, you and your friend should use Google. Type those words onto Google and it'd bring up web pages you can follow. Also, when one has an assistantship - called Graduate teaching assistantship (GTA) - it means they will be given some amount as a stipend. So don't say "assistantship plus stipend". Also, an assistantship may come with you helping a Professor in a research area, which means you might need to speak to faculty members/lecturers of different schools.

I'll advice you check google for the specific schools, it's better that way and literally your efforts starts from there.... You could also check Easter Tennessee State University, Clemson University. Their program is more interdisciplinary in nature.

The person is talking from an undergraduate point of view.
To be enrolled full time as an international undergraduate student in Fall or spring semesters, you must be enrolled for 12 credit hours, while for masters, you must be enrolled for 9 credit hours. So the person that said 12 credits hours must be speaking from an undergraduate point of view

Summer is 3 months and you can do your 12 credit hours or 9 credit hours as the case maybe if your program has summer classes up to the required amount of credit hours that you need to be a full time international student or else they won't even admit you to resume in summer semester.

Not all schools or program has classes for new students in summer. For example, my program offers a few classes in summer and all this classes requires prerequisites for you to take them. You cannot take this classes as a fresher hence my program won't admit you to start in summer semester.

If your school and program has classes and admit you for summer semester, you are good to go and it won't affect you at the embassy. People have gotten their visa for summer semester on this thread.

I hope this helps you.

Best regards

Good morning all, I'm new to this group and hope to school in the USA but I'm a bit confused on the course to study but I am looking at any course related to computer science but I had my first degree in chemistry and GPA was quite low about 2.3/5.0 I don't if it's OK? Please I also need suggestions of universities in the USA that is best to study this course. I am married with kids that are us citizens but the thing is my husband will be my sponsor but doesn't want to relocate just yet because of work so it's me and the kids I dont even know how we will both cope but I need to go and study and better myself I need to know I'm not alone. We don't have any state in mind and we don't really have families in d state. Hoping to go before September, what are the steps to take? What should I consider before applying? Please help me and don't mind my long write up?

Hmmmm. I will advise you maintain same field so you can secure your visa easily. You can always switch when you get to USA. Convincing the V.O about switching from Chemistry to Computer Science, might not be an easy task. My one cent though.

Been a silent follower on this thread and learning quietly from the gurus. Had my interview today at the abuja consulate and awaiting administrative process to verify my account statement.
Below is my transcript.

Me: good morning
Vo: morning how are you?
Me: I'm good
Vo: looking at my i20, I can see you are going to Texas state uni @ San Marcos for ur MSC in *****
Me: yeah
Vo: how did you learn about Texas state uni?
Me: a prof at uni***** where I had my undergraduate studies referred me
Vo: okay, when did he get his PhD from there?
Me: 3years ago
Vo: when did you get your bsc?
Me: graduated in 2015
Vo: what have you been doing since then?
Me: I worked with xyz company then got another job later in Jan 2018 with xyz as an admin staff.
Vo: who's paying for your tuition?
Me: my aunt, and I stated her name.
Vo: the account you've got here shows a November balance, I'd prefer it was printed in DEC
Me: I got her to provide it cos she was about travelling and I was hoping to get an earlier date
Vo: okay, I'll like you to get the most recent account statement at least showing her December balance
* then she brings out the yellow paper for admin processing.
As she was about passing it to me, she asked if I was aware I would be banned if I presented any fake documents.
Me: yes ma'am
Then she handed me the papers and wished me best of luck.
I live in Lagos but now in abj for my interview.
Hope to get the whole stuff settled by Thursday or Fri then sit down and sip on some juice as I watch God finish his work.
I know it'll be positive
School resumes on the 22nd of Jan though, I hope to get an extension to make proper arrangements.

Big thanks to the nairaland family, dollypizzle and Velly my brothers. Wishing all others awaiting interview success.

post your transcript so you can be advised. You can go for summer or fall which ever suits you but please observe the two months break before apply. Also ensure there is a change in your application.

My Niece had a j1 visa extension interview on 7/01/19 which was approved and told passport would be ready in 2-3 buisness days;
Unfortunately, the passport is yet to be ready and the website is still indicating “Administrative Processing” til today. Last updated since the day of interview.
No further documents were requested.
I have sent emails to us-traveldocs and lagosNiv without success.
Why is it taking this long?
Has anyone gone through this. Where else can I contact?
Wait for two days and send a gentle reminder. Thereafter drop a message on their Facebook page if still no response. Pls a call

two months according to the embassy. Although some people brace the odd and apply earlier than 2 months but they must surely have something that have changed on their profile or the element of luck to ever get a positive response.in most cases the embassy denies such that I have seen on this group.
