bracelum:I been travelling a lot lately to European countries for work. A lot of these so called poor European countries. When i arrive at their airport , every where so much better than Nigeria. I just start weeping for my country . Our leaders have really failed us and we are not yet wise enough to demand a change from top to bottom . Abeg let me not derail this thread . It is very sad |

bracelum:The problem I've seen with most Nigerian students here is that they limit their selves to their labs/classes and don't know anything that happens outside their campuses. They only roll with people on campus and in academia Where do I start from, Is it western union agents that refuse to pay SEVIS fee stating that it's fraudulent or the ones that refused to made the payments because I've done the payment previously for someone else. Is it people that don't know anything about anything about the world outside US, know nothing about Olympic games etc...People that know nothing about very basic things. smh I've met old ladies that use their own mouth to wash their own people. So I know what I meant when I said "most people here aren't smart. I rest my case. |

my people, I had my interview in Dec 2018 and was denied, I actually booked another appointment the following week but was later advised to differ my admission to fall 2019. And that was why I didn't attend my interview which was scheduled to be 14th of Jan... I have contacted my school to help me with the documents that l'll be needing for my interview but they told me to specify the documents l'll be needing, I was baffled though... Please who knows the documents l'll be needing at the embassy for my interview as I don't want to be rushing... Also, I haven't booked for new interview up till now and I also want to know when I can book for fall interview at the embassy |

wintabotom:No ma. There are people that applied twice in a year and got approved the second time. I remember a guy on this trend, Stewee; he applied the first time and was denied, went again in the same year and was approved. |

sheke01:I CONCOR! My facts that americans are "not so smart as we think they" are not from students or professors but from people that have lived here for so long and understand the country better than a student ever could.... I still think americans arent that smart as we think. PERIOD,.. |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by Nobody: 6:08pm On Jan 22, 2019 |
sheke01:Hahahahahahahahahhahahhahahahahahahahahaha Dude, you never cease to amaze me. Trust me, you've not done up to 10% of my outside-of-class activities. Trust me! And trust me when I say I've met tons and tons of smart Americans both inside and outside of class. Go to the top consulting firms, or Wall Street and see Americans doing exceptionally well. Go and see History majors crunching numbers on Excel. Go to most career forums and see 18-year-olds planning their futures... Something an average 18-year-old Nigerian cannot do. Visit most of these black mentorship associations and see 16-year-old black Americans planning their college and scholarship applications. SMH As I said before, there are smart and dull people everywhere in the world. Your experience is a direct reflection of the segment of people you interact with. |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by sheke01: 6:27pm On Jan 22, 2019 |
bracelum:Because an average 18 year old Nigerian does have an online platform or easy access to an online platform to publicize his plan to you doesn't mean he has no plans. And you think Nigerian undergraduates don't write scholarship applications. Will you like to know the exploits of 16years old in my alma mater during my time and even now? Do you know how many scholarships I and my friends had through school in Nigeria. I don't know what you have against Nigeria. And there are smart people everywhere and it's a fact that the not smart will always outweigh the smart in every society. So my theory that "most Americans are not smart" will always be true even if it bursts your bubble |

sheke01:With your theory, you can as well say "most Nigerians are not smart". Case closed! |

sheke01:I would not like us to argue on this and like I said, it is nice to weigh words. You used most and that alone is not a fair judgment of them. Sincerely, I meant no harm and neither did I intend attacking your post. I used to think they were not as smart as us based on what I heard before going to study however, getting to the US, my perception changed. |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by Nobody: 7:44pm On Jan 22, 2019 |
sheke01:Dude, arguing with you about this is a waste of my precious time I have reiterated several times that there are smart and unsmart people everywhere. But for you to come out and assert that most Americans are unsmart is totally wrong. And yes, an average 16-year -old Nigerian does not have such ambition that I highlighted. I don't expect you to believe or deny it. Take a survey and see results for yourself. And this is not about internet availablility or any other lame excuse you have mentioned. A lot of them spend 90% of their time chanting Buhari/Atiku on social media. In summary, your experience in life is formed by the kind of company you keep and the people you meet. If you feel Americans are unsmart, go to Stanford and argue with an 18-year-old Computer Science student. Someone here talked about his uncle and his notions. I have a reply for you but I'll do that after my class. Aside from that reply, I don't have anything else to say about it. If you reply this message, don't expect a reply from me. You'll end up wasting your time. |

GboyegaD:Am sorry for not seeing the angle you were coming from. I only said that to pass a message to pinkandblue26 that not every VO would be smart enough to know that not all programs or schools request for standardized tests. Sincerely, I understand better now and know that it is not right to make such a generalized statement. I would henceforth use "not all Americans are smart" whenever I want to make such comment. We learn everyday. Apologies to everyone for derailing this thread and to bracelum for weighing words with you. All of those arguments weren't necessary. One love peeps |

Good day everyone ,I need ur opinion on this.My sponsor wants me to go for community colleges because is far cheaper. Her plan Is for me to start in a community college and then transfer to a uni,So I chose a college close to her home. The college has a great standard (Georgia Military College). The college does not require any standardized test.My sponsor is based in America, we don't have the same surname though.I'm coming clean becos I want u guys opinion, thank u. |

| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by GboyegaD(m): 8:06pm On Jan 22, 2019 |
LagosismyHome:The worse part of things is that about 50% of registered voters in Nigeria are less than 35 yet, many think it has to be Buhari or Atiku; those who do not have anything to offer them. Our use of the word smart sometimes can be baffling. |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by domex007: 8:08pm On Jan 22, 2019 |
presh68:there is no problem with your sponsor being in america, my sponsor is also in america and i got the visa the hard way. I will advise you apply to a university instead of college and write standard test even if the school waived them. it shows that you are a serious student. after getting the visa you can transfer to any community college of choice. GOODLUCK My two cents though |

sheke01:Oga, can you please be humble and let them live their lives? You don't need to overemphasize because you are contradicting yourself. Don't you think that what they have told you and what you think are all dumb facts since they are not smart? You are a student and your focus should be focusing on your studies and planning your life after school. If a Western Union agent doesn't agree you use his station to pay SEVIS fees or that you met one or at most 100 people that do not know anything about Olympic games, is that enough to generalize? Your comment about people taking few courses earlier and comparing it to Nigerian universities where you take 10 without considering the volume of work involved in both cases speaks more than you have written. Biko, let us rest this matter. |

presh68:My concern is that your sponsor is based in America and wants you to go through college because of its low cost could mean so many things to a VO part of which is immigration intent. |
