.. I'm speech less looking at the ranking the current CJN is not appointed out of Nepotism he's the next in LINE... But some people look for every possible means to condem Buhari's selections..
When was the last time buhari appointed the next line when it involves southerners benefiting?

Did he not retire all of them in the military and the police just to appoint a northern puppet.?

Some of us here are actually smart. Take note.

Buhari erred

He CANNOT unilaterally suspend a substantive Chief Justice of the Federation under any guise

Press please note: 'allegedly suspended' or some other descriptive to be used.

Do not be a part (willing or unwilling) of this rape of democracy.

There is only one way outlined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for suspending OR removing a Chief Justice EVEN when it is a matter emanating via Code of Conduct.

BUHARI REQUIRES TWO-THIRDS of the SENATE.

This desecration of the constitution he swore to uphold is gross misconduct by Buhari and an IMPEACHABLE offence

http://www.nigeria-law.org/ConstitutionOfTheFederalRepublicOfNigeria.htm#FederalExecutive

292. (1) A judicial officer shall not be removed from his office or appointment before his age of retirement except in the following circumstances -

(a) in the case of -

(i) Chief Justice of Nigeria, President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Grand Kadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and President, Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate.

(ii) Chief Judge of a State, Grand Kadi of a Sharia Court of Appeal or President of a Customary Court of Appeal of a State, by the Governor acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the House of Assembly of the State,

Praying that he be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or of body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct;

(b) in any case, other than those to which paragraph (a) of this subsection applies, by the President or, as the case may be, the Governor acting on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council that the judicial officer be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or of body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct.

(2) Any person who has held office as a judicial officer shall not on ceasing to be a judicial officer for any reason whatsoever thereafter appear or act as a legal practitioner before any court of law or tribunal in Nigeria.

She cannot be CJN . If this current impasse is resolved and the CJN gets his job back, he would be gone by December next year, for the Mohammed to take over. The next would be Rhodes Vivour who would go in 2021. Mary Odiili would be no 2 till 2022. Except anything happens to Mohammed, she won't get to no 1. The next CJN after 2023 is that Ariwoola.

You are legally dull.

In one breath you are talking about suspension and then you posted an extract from the constitution which talks about removal and not suspension .

Buhari suspended. He did not remove

Ariwoola is the beneficiary of onnoghen suspension and his ascension to the seat of chief judge will come at the time when power has return to south west in 2023 grin
Ariwoola is the luckiest of them all. Only death can stop him not to become CJN.

But to be honest do you believe Walter the PDP judge would give APC any favourable outcome?

Check the records he is a notorious PDP apologists in his judgement. At least he has a moral issue and it was the next most senior that replaced him not someone not in line which would have been political
Just like PDP are scared of zakari amina, APC are also scared of any corrupt PDP apologist like onoghen and odili... and in politics all is fair so fact you are working under the constitution... Buhari's VP is a prof of law, his daughter is a lawyer, almost half of his cabinet are filled with lawyers, he was already ready for PDP since 2015

What you quoted was a removable provision. No express provision appears in the case of a suspension ordered by a court. Not just any inferior court but a constitutionally established court.

I think you should come and argue clearer that you are merely implying a head of a court can be suspended by the same terms as a removal.

You people just like to bring in Tribalism issue. When Justice (Sir) Tokunbo Ademola, Justice Fatai Williams and Justice Teslim Elias became the CJN consecutively none of you raised the issues of tribalism.
Should we also say that, there is tribalism in Senate since no Yoruba man from Southwest (Saraki assosciate himself with the north) has never emerged as Senate president, most Senate Presidents are from southeast.
Let us shun all this tribalism issue. The new CJN was chose based on Merit and he is the next in line after the suspended CJN.

just to clarify, I think you shouldn't join the wailers in making these issues political.

The only appointment amina has benefited from buhari has been acting chairman which has since elapsed. She is currently serving her capacity as handed to her by the independent inec.

Walter had a moral issue and was replaced by the next senior in position, tanko is coincidentally a northern doesn't guarantee he would favour buhari.

Buhari would have gone on to appoint any junior njc loyal member at any cost if it was all about politics
