Op, point of correction, the Chief Justice of the federation, Justice Walter Onnoghen, cannot be suspended.

Buhari's desperate attempt to remove the chief Justice is an exercise in futility. All lovers of democracy will resist it.

Be remotely chest beating.

He has been suspended and it's dusted

Nothing will happen

If he is the next most senior officers; then let him take over.
How a CJN tell the whole world he FORGOT to declear some assets. That’s enough ground to retire him. Ignorance of the law is no excuse talk more about “forgetting”.
Our ethnic sentiments has really gotten the best out of us. Not like he jumped the queue. The North is very vast and have hugely populated the polity.

Competence and next in line over the useless federal character that has not gotten us anywhere over the years.

Yes he forgot
Or he claimed to forget
But there is a process before he can be removed
No one is saying he is guilty or not
The issue is due process
With this your notion
It means if u catch a thief
U won't mind setting dem ablaze even if the law says death by hanging
People use the law so the thief can get fair hearing

By status of seniority and retirement age, the present acting chief justice will still be there by the time she retires.

Her chance of becoming CJN is slim considering her age.

The most likely next CJN is Olukayode Ariwoola
If they follow the hierarchy of the last, she will be CJN from 2021-2022,cos Ariwoola will leave 2021.

Tanko is to retire by 2023, so except Tanko retires early or dies, she cannot be CJN.

Walter is still the CJN. Buhari has no power on his own to suspend him, just so he can rig in peace.

if pdp had fixed our constitution right, this would not have happened.

they had plans of useing 60 years but God gave them an opportunity of sixteen years .

now they are having their own torn of flesh, what goes around comes around

karma is here , Obasanjo is now crying he had the best opportunity, from prison to presidency.

our people u to say , any one that always behead people will never want to see someone holding a cutlass .

wish the likes of tinubu,Amechi, apabio, oshiomole, and others can learn from this to fix things right .

nothing last forever

Oga this is not a PDP or APC thing this is our democracy been snatched from us in the form or exparte orders.

BTW it was PDP who wrote amended the constitution as it is now in 1999 so just imagine how skewered it was before

Buhari erred

He CANNOT unilaterally suspend a substantive Chief Justice of the Federation under any guise

Press please note: 'allegedly suspended' or some other descriptive to be used.

Do not be a part (willing or unwilling) of this rape of democracy.

There is only one way outlined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for suspending OR removing a Chief Justice EVEN when it is a matter emanating via Code of Conduct.

BUHARI REQUIRES TWO-THIRDS of the SENATE.

This desecration of the constitution he swore to uphold is gross misconduct by Buhari and an IMPEACHABLE offence

http://www.nigeria-law.org/ConstitutionOfTheFederalRepublicOfNigeria.htm#FederalExecutive

292. (1) A judicial officer shall not be removed from his office or appointment before his age of retirement except in the following circumstances -

(a) in the case of -

(i) Chief Justice of Nigeria, President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Grand Kadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and President, Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate.

(ii) Chief Judge of a State, Grand Kadi of a Sharia Court of Appeal or President of a Customary Court of Appeal of a State, by the Governor acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the House of Assembly of the State,

Praying that he be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or of body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct;

(b) in any case, other than those to which paragraph (a) of this subsection applies, by the President or, as the case may be, the Governor acting on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council that the judicial officer be so removed for his inability to discharge the functions of his office or appointment (whether arising from infirmity of mind or of body) or for misconduct or contravention of the Code of Conduct.

(2) Any person who has held office as a judicial officer shall not on ceasing to be a judicial officer for any reason whatsoever thereafter appear or act as a legal practitioner before any court of law or tribunal in Nigeria.

Bros nobody is setting the country ablaze but in Nigerian Politics the more u look the less u see. For your info, i am indifferent to who wins afterall they know how they make up among themselves. They only fight for their selfish gains. Go through Nigerian history very well, what is happening now is not new..... Well u may not understand
contigiency:

The way some of you talk incoherently baffles me. That marry odili will not become the cjn because she will retire before the current one would be due, that it was all planned out like that so that she will never be in the office. Just listen to yourself. Tomorrow you start talking that someone is an illiterate.

So even the day she gained admission to study law, passed out from the university and law school, gained employment in the judiciary, ascended to supreme court and met the other judges in the supreme court were all planned such that before she progressed in any of the above, those who planned it will hurt her to make sure she doesn't derail from the predetermined ladder. If you people are not careful, you will set this country ablaze before you know it.
