L8/3 is 70k check your pay slip ... 70,000/18,000 × 27,000 = 105000k one hundred and five thousand naira and not your #97.5 at all.

Chibuking81:

That's good.
From voucher, 8/3 gross stands at 70,721.31
Gross 70,721.31 - 8,897.84 ( which are deductions includes,Tax 2,947.06 + Cont. Pension 3,420.84 + Union Dues 1,922.78 + NHF 607.16 = 8,897.84) = 61,823.47 ( Net Pay )

30,000/18000 x 48,572.98 ( which are, basic 24,286.49 + Accommodation 14,808.83 + Transport 6,515.89 + Utility 2,961.77 = 48,572.98) + 22,148.33 ( which are, Exam Allowance 1,214.32 + Furniture 8,885.30 + Hazard 1,214.32 + Learned 485.72 + Leave grant 2,428.65 + Meal 1,777.06 + Medical 2,500 + Teaching 3,642.96 = 22,148.33) = 103,103.297 (new gross salary)

30,000/18,000 x 48,572.98 + 22,148.33 = 103,103.297 ( gross salary)
30,000/18,000 x 48,572.98 + 22,148.33 = 103,103.297 - new deductions will give you new Net pay.
This is for those in L8/3
@ 27,000
27,000/18,000 x 48,572.98 + 22,148.33 = 95,007.8 ( gross salary)

Please why is it not just 27000/18000 × 70,721(our current gross pay) = 106,081.5

Why did you have to separate 48,572.98 from 22,148.33 ? Why did u not add both up before calculating to arrive at the final answer ? Why did you divide the gross salary into two 48,572.99 and 22,148.33 is it how it is really done in the ministry in charge of this matters ?

Minimum Wage: NLC rejects N27,000, to engage NASS on Monday

Friday, January 25, 2019 9:19 pm

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the N27,000 minimum wage approved by the Council of State, saying it is ready to engage the National Assembly on Monday over the N30,000 figure agreed on by the Tripartite Committee.

The NLC President ,Mr Ayuba Wabba, said this while addressing newsmen at the end of its Congress Central Working (CWC)meeting held on Friday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Council of State had on Tuesday approved N27,000 as new national minimum wage for workers in states while federal civil servants would earn N30,000.

NAN also recalls that the bill on the National Minimum Wage was transmitted to the National Assembly on Wednesday and had since passed second reading at the Senate.

According to Wabba, the meeting reviewed the development, including the fact that N30,000 was agreed at the tripartite meeting as the minimum wage.

“ It was out of place and procedure for that figure to be reduced to N27,000.

“Going by the convention of the International Labour Organisation, the figure that was agreed by the tripartite committee cannot be changed by any of the parties except through a process.

“Government as an employer cannot unilaterally change the figure. This is about law and procedure.

“ Therefore, the CWC has frowned on that and rejected the issue of reducing the figure. We still maintain that we stand on the outcome of the tripartite committee.

“We will mobilse our members and engage the National Assembly on the issue. The negotiation must be respected and NASS should do the needful. We have put our members on the alert if that is not done.

“Certainly, we will also mobilise to take appropriate action that is desirable to protect and ensure that the tripartite process is respected, ” he said.

He said the process adopted was in line with the provision of the International Labour Organisation(ILO) convention on minimum wage mechanism.

Wabba, who said that NASS represents the people, urged the members to respect the outcome of the tripartite process.

“Importantly, when you look at N30,000, it’s a compromised position in the context of today’s economy of Nigeria. We should be commended.

“As far back as 2011, the N18,000 minimum wage was equivalent to $150, today, the N30,000 is less than $100.

“We juxtapose this argument within the context of reality and demand that what was mutually agreed after all other factors have been put into consideration, including the ability to pay, must be respected, ”

I wonder why this zamfara state governor dey speak on behalf of our beloved state.

The Zamfara State Governor, Abubakar Yari, has warned the National Assembly against passing a new National Minimum Wage that would be difficult for states to pay.
Mr Yari, who is the Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum, issued the warning in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the public hearing on new National Minimum Wage bill on Monday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) recalls that the organised labour leaders had rejected the approved N27,000 by the National Council of State, demanding N30,000 as a new minimum wage.
Reacting to the demand of organised labour, Mr Yari said that the demand for N30,000 as the new minimum was not realistic.
According to him, only Lagos State can afford that N30,000 as minimum wage, not even Rivers can pay that much.
He said that leaders must tell themselves the truth and not pass figures that would be difficult to implement in the field.

“It is easy to call figures, but when it comes to implementing in the field, it becomes a problem.
“Only Lagos can afford the N30,000 as minimum wage, not even Rivers can afford to pay that much,” he said.

Gov. Wike and Zanfara state governor are the governors behind all the confusion in this new minimum wage. Wike will openly tell Rivers Civil servants he will pay but he will go behind and instigate the governors that they cannot pay. Very wicked, greedy and heartless governor we have in Rivers state. In his 4 years as a governor no promotion, no employment, no chrismas bonus. Inflating contract sum and stealling our money to answer mr project.

please calculate: Divide Grade 1¹'s annual into monthly, it resembles 18k minimum wage..... I can't remember when 18k became minimum wage, but also remember teachers generally & rivers state civil service pays higher than the general pay.

Breaking: Reps counter Council of State, pass N30.000 as new minimum wage ON JANUARY 29, 20191:19 PMIN NEWS6 COMMENTS By Levinus Nwabughiogu ABUJA-

House of Representatives on Tuesday approved N30.000 as new minimum wage for Nigerian workers. Minimum Wage The approval followed the consideration of the report of the new minimum wage committee at Tuesday plenary. The House also approved a clause that would make the new bill operational on the date it would be assented to by the president. Recall that a public hearing was conducted on the new bill yesterday consequent upon the accelerated hearing accorded to the Bill by the House.

By this development, the House has countered the National Council of State, NCS and the State Governors who had earlier at an emergency meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja approved N27.000. Meanwhile, the House has formally adjourned plenary to February 19 due to the Presidential and National Assembly elections that would hold February 16.
