Nigeria Slightly Improves On Corruption Fight; Ranks 144th – Transparency Intern by deantimes(op): 7:21am On Jan 29, 2019
The fight against corruption in Nigeria has slightly improved under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Transparency International (TI) has said.

The global anti-corruption watchdog, ranked Nigeria to have moved up to 144th position from the 148th the country was in its 2017 report.

Checks by POLITICS TIMES showed Nigeria, according to the CPI, scored 27 out 100 in its latest ranking.

The 2018 CPI draws on 13 surveys and expert assessments to measure public sector corruption in 180 countries and territories, giving each a score from zero (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

In the 2016 rankings, Nigeria scored 28. In 2015, it scored 26. The year before that, it scored 25. In 2014, the country scored 27 and 25 in 2013.

In 2012, the country’s score was 27 out of 100. According to TI, higher levels of corruption are common in countries where there is media and civil society repression.

Dumbohari keeps repressing media, and arresting activists yet claims he is 'fighting corruption'. The buffoon even hailed gandollarje for stuffing Dollar notes into his babariga.

The title of this post is misleading spin. Nigeria's score actually went down over the year, not up - from 28 to 27. The only reason why Nigeria "rose" to 144th place is because a few other countries saw even bigger downward slides, so there's absolutely nothing to boast about here. - omohayek.

Nigerians have said No to tyranny,
No to nepotism,
No to hunger and joblessness,
No to a Boko Haram sympathising president,
No to irresponsible and insensitive administration
No to lopsided appointments

Major players in why Nigeria is swimming in corruption waters. And some miscreants will still come here to defend them.

How irredeemably daft can they be. SO SAD!

The first year of Buhari's presidency, everybody thought the fight against corruption was real, and then the Northern appointments began, the one sided corruption fight, the refusal to address the Fulani crisis, and other failures began to creep in.
It's sad at the end of the day, the 'great' Buhari still goes to the UK for medical check up. The irony of that.
