What a sweet story. Congratulations!

I guess so too. My 6 months + pregnant wife and I and two kids met a male VO and it was a success story; the four of us were granted the visa. I honestly thought he was going to deny us at some point as he kept on typing and typing and typing like forever and suddenly asked ‘you already had two kids in Nigeria, so why the US for this one?’ My wife was going to answer but I told her to allow me. So I responded by saying ‘well, we were already planning a beautiful vacation in Texas when we discovered we were going to have a baby and we were like what better way to have our last baby. Being the last pregnancy, hopefully, I intend to give my wife the best delivery experience ever and would love that our other kids witness it as well. I am hoping you wouldn’t deny us this anticipated beautiful moment - with a smile.’ The VO took a deep breath, typed briefly and then for the first time checked my passport. He asked if the UK visa on it was for family vacation as well and I answered in the affirmative. While he was typing yet again I bent towards my first son and whispered audibly, ‘ you’re going to America son’ the VO paused at this point and said I heard you while he smiled and then said ‘I have approved you visas bla bla bla.’ I rubbed her tommy, kissed her on the forehead before even telling the VO thank you. He then said safe journey and wishing you a memorable delivery. I may be wrong though, but my experience with the male VO was different, the other lady VOs denied every single person while we were there.

@Dlordschild,
I will advise you to think twice about using Henricos. Used them and that was what got me a 221g interview. Their bills are not straight forward o because of the huge discount they give. They have top notch service and I enjoyed my 3days with them and the doctor was fantastic as well.
Please clarify with their financial counselor is what I am cautioning. All the best.

@Oleayo22 please was your renewal denied because of henrico bill? though i got hospital bill of about $2k + from Doc W, i read on this blog that it has gone up to $4k plus....... i will call financial adviser as suggested today

Not really as the lady VO wasn't explicit. She had mentioned that the bill was too small and I told her that that was what I was sent which I paid. She asked me to bring all my itemized bill without my passport which I did but I have not heard anything from them.
Wow@ Dr W 's bill! Guess they told him to increase his fees.
Please call the financial and confirm from her.

Was at the embassy today with my wife. After asking all the travel history questions which we answered as we have travelled extensively and questions regarding where we worked. By the Grace of God we both have good jobs. Everything seem to going fine as one can see how she was nodding.

Things changed when she asked for Doctor's correspondence and invoice from hospital. Upon sighting it the next thing is blue paper. I guess guys should be weary of cheap hospitals. We used doctores parati.

Good afternoon. Please can anyone help me with links to an OB GYN and hospital in New York - email and/or phone number. I've been using Google search for the last couple of weeks but not been able to get estimates and correspondences. Thank you.

Have been reading comments here and I must say have learnt alot. It aided my preparations for my 2nd interview today.

After sending a letter of intent (B1/B2 visa obtained last year), was invited for 2nd interview.

Male VO: Hello.....
Me: Hi
Vo: thank you for informing the embassy of your intentions to give birth. So where exactly are u going to?
Me: Chicago
Vo: which hospital.
Me: I replied
Vo: he seemed familiar with the hospital. Sounded Like the hospital has a good record or so... can I see ur documents.
Me: showed him. Went through all the contract and amounts quoted.
Vo: can I see bank statement of sponsors. I gave him.. he scanned through it.. what does your husband do?
Me: I told him...
Vo: and you?
Me: accountant
Vo: what's a cash flow statement?
Me: cash flow statement is bla bla bla.
Vo: Good, (He was smiling) don't worry I won't ask you any more questions..
Me: smiling too.. thank u...
Vo: when will you like to travel?
Me: i told him
Vo: after typing a long story on his system.. ok.. thank you.. safe trip and safe delivery..
Me: thank you..

Carried my documents and left.
Meanwhile I had to tell the doctor to quote a higher bill for me due to others experience I got here. Almost 10k..

I placed a call to the financial counsellor at henrico doctors hospital about the bill and discount given. She actually said the normal bill for all patient is about 8000-13000$ for vaginal delivery but the hospital runs a package that gives a flat rate of $2375 as hospital bill for international self pay patient which is not Medicare, government sponsored or charity. Also, she mentioned that they don’t get the reimbursement from the government because the more international patient or any self pay citizen that can pay the $2375, the more profit the hospital makes.
I also mentioned that I am from Nigeria and needed to clarify the Medicaid fraud the embassy talks about and she mentioned she has recieved call from the embassy and they keep clarifying them on it, as there bill is transparent. I think that is all I could get from the call.

Please didn't they respond to letter of intent quote author=Ama85 post=75036323]I have been following this trend recently and would want to share experience
- Had B1/B2 before now (though a frequent traveller) but when God answered us and I conceived, we agreed to have our child in the USA.

- I sent a change of intent letter
- Travelled with Virgin Atlantic 22/01/19 and landed at JFK this morning.
- Below is my POE experience
* Did the self service stuff and got an X afterwards oooo ( that got me scared)
* Headed to the CBP Officer who only asked me 3 questions;
CBP Officer : What are you here for?
Me: I am here for tourism and to give birth to my child
CBP Officer: Where will you stay?
Me: Hotel...gave the address
CBP Officer How long are you here for?
Me: I am here for 9weeks and 6days.
The correct guy took my biometrics and stamped me in for 6months and wished me a safe delivery
I headed to get My bags, custom did not even check my bag upon all the orishirishi I declared. God just had mercy on me. Thank you all for sharing your experiences and contributions. I will come back to share the complete testimony when LO arrives

This is correct and has been mentioned in several ocasions. The hospitals arent running any type of scam, it is the US Embassy that is engaging in Burocratic Racism. It is my understanding that there is an investigation aimed at exposing this matter on several news sources within 2020. It should be big news since it will basically inform of govt racism with actual statistics.

For you, going home outfit, slippers/socks, phone charger, underwear,
For baby - going home outfit, shawl, car-seat, diapers and wipes,
They are likely to provide baby with what he/she will wear, diapers, sanitary pad and underwear for you.
The car-seat is very important though cos they won't discharge baby without inspecting it.

just keep tracking via the ceac website regardless of what the passport tracker/ ustraveldocs page says. i experienced that too. ceac website shows you application received ------ admin processing if need be ------- issued/refused as the case may be. The status of visa application changes in that order as the processing progresses.

Good evening,
I’ll like to know if it makes sense to travel at 36weeks and deliver at 37weeks?
Do pregnancies from IVF have to be delivered via CS?
Thank you.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Ebony84: 12:21am On Jan 30, 2019
You can change destinations if it works out better for you. No law against it.

Just be ready to explain if asked at POE.

Dlordschild:
hi All,

I binge read this blog and topic and i gained a lot so thanks to all those who drop their experiences here. Accordingly let me give back with the hope that the new question i have can be answered.

** Long Post Alert*

i applied for visa (using a highly recommended agent) yes o i used agent, not because am lazy but because my work is so tight and i didn't want to make any mistakes. Moreover i didn't have enough time to waste as my pregnancy is far advanced so i needed a close interview date. i applied for me, my 2year old son and my mom (to help out in the US)

we all had separate interview dates (an error but it worked for our good). All in Lagos

First Transcript - Me (applied for B2 Visa) no need to lie, belle don dey show already.

interview lasted less than 5mins. happened early Jan so no queue at all

Questions asked included
- Why are you travelling to the US - Child birth / vacation
-Where do you work & what is your job title / how long have you worked there
- Where does hubby work
-Asked to see budget sheet - i made that substantial and way over the quotes i got
- Asked to see Doc correspondences
-Asked to see Bank statement , proof of fund
- Who are you staying with - will make my own accommodation arrangement (used intown suites for the interview)

next thing, madam your visa has been approved, blablabla... white paper, ensure you don't use any medical aid or unexplained discount
me: thank you ma

Second Transcript - Mum - mid Jan so long queue at the embassy but short interview as well
VO: Why are you travelling
Mum: to help my DD who is going to give birth
VO: does she have a visa,
Mum: yes - shows her my visa
VO: have you traveled before
Mum: Yes, Germany
VO: How many children do you have
Mum: Bleep
VO: Your visa has been approved, blablabla... white paper,

Final Transcript - SON
VO just asked if i had a visa, if i had traveled before outside Nig and how long am staying.

though one over zealous guy before the main visa section (those guys that check your appointment and affix something on your passport) flexed muscle for me. saying he wont clear me to go in because of his silly Ego. Nigerians Sha SMH but its all good.

what i learnt
1. be Honest- this interview guys are smart. if your story is not straight they will see through it
2. be composed
3.be prepared
4. Then leave the rest to God

On Hospital search, if you no get time, use agent (dont be stingy lol, shebi you wan go spend million in America grin then verify what they got for you. or read Nairaland and google the rest. its best to search for an OBGYN in your desired area first then they can tell you the hospital they use or even share the hospital rates with you

Now my question - abeg make una help me
For the visa interview i used Virginia and said i didn't know anyone on my form - now i have an offer of accommodation in Dallas Texas (family friend). however total medical bill for Virginia (CS) is lower than that of Texas. Bill from Virginia was gotten via agent, the one for Texas i got by myself

Do you advice i go with the original plan which is Virginia / Henrico hosp or should i go to Texas. will i have issues at POE if i change locations?

Mamas that have used henrico please advice if the bill is truly affordable with no hidden charges??

Travel date is fast approaching (end feb) and i need to book a ticket.

Thank you!!

Why decide to stay alone if you have family or friends you can stay. I will suggest you look at the full cost including transportation and all and make your decision.

Dlordschild:

hahaha @AWoof. thanks for the response. you have a point.
