So, I noticed today a couple of our good-hearted and well-meaning members have commented on a post stating that ECA is NOT required to be uploaded in an application post-ITA since it does state so, anywhere.

I have attached a screenshot of the page, where it specifically mentions that it needs to be uploaded.

Also, there have been several cases of application rejection right at the R10 stage, because ECA was not uploaded.

If you err, then always do so on the safe side.

Please upload the copy of your ECA along with your educational credentials, degrees, transcripts/marksheets, and IELTS report.

But why would someone not upload ECA? If not for anything, the stress in obtaining it.

Just less than a week to our appointment and this kinda news cry! I got the call too this morning. Abeg does anyone have 19k he/she is not using Na dash I dey find oh grin

I've just been informed of increased medical fees at Q-Life family clinic. Adults now 35k against 40k at IOM. The ridiculously long waiting period to get an appointment with Q-Life and now the price increase close to that of IOM now makes IOM the best choice except your family is really really large to make 5k difference significant.

When there is excess demand, there is bound to be shakara. Even IOM sef, I suspect they will soon increase theirs

Update: So the scheduled interview was actually landing in its own right. Got there 10 mins to the scheduled time, got myself a number card, waited till it was my turn. I was asked two questions. Have I ever been convicted of a crime in Canada or elsewhere to which I answered NO. Also, I was asked if I have any dependants I haven't stated, I said NO. They printed my CoPR, have me sign both copies, they took one with one of the aforementioned passport photographs and that was it. The waiting time aside I didn't spend up to 5 minutes there.

Bro, by that short procedure that you described above, as an inland applicant, you have officially landed in Canada.

Unfortunately, I doubt it whether you got the "welcome to Canada" greetings that international applicants get when landing at the international port of entries. grin ([s]I'm sure you'll say- who cares- as long as you have gotten your PR status![/s] grin)

(Honestly, sometimes I think we- Federal Skilled Workers (FSW) category(majorly outland applicants) don't appreciate enough the weight of the benefits of the PR status that we clinch right from our home countries and land with in Canada, all within 1 year of applying (myself inclusive)....To clinch that same PR status, it will cost the Canadian Experience Category applicant (CEC- that's the category for those that schooled in Canada and eventually stayed back to work on work permit or other temporary work permit holders already working and living in Canada but not permanent residents) about 1 to 4 years of schooling (depending on what level of study), 1 year of post-graduation work experience and thereafter putting in his permanent residency application....effectively making it a minimum of 2 years to about 5 years of braving the Canadian winters before he can claim to be a permanent resident of the country he's been living in the last 2 to 5 years) grin grin

Congratulations once again on your PR.

It will end in praise IJN!

Hi Guys, I am new here and not sure how to post on Naira Land... but here goes.

first I want to thank you for the wealth of knowledge shared here so far. I have received an ITA for express entry and I have a few more days to go before my time to apply is up (been gathering my requirements). However, I am unsure about how to fill my marital status in the form. In the initial EE profile, I put Legally Separated because, officially, I am going through a divorce process that has not been finalized. I have the legal documents following the proceedings of the divorce so far and plan to share it with my application.

However, at the PR profile level, there is a compulsory field that says I should state when the marriage ended and I am not sure what to out there is the Divorce is still pending. should I just wait the divorce is over. I have seen online that people have applied even while going through a divorce so i know there is a solution for this. I just don't know what to do here. Please see the photo attached.

Can I put the date of the last time I saw him as the End date?

Thanks in advance

I believe you can.

See IRCC's definitions:
"Annulled Marriage:
This is a marriage that is legally declared as not valid. An annulment can also be a declaration by the Catholic Church that the marriage union did not have a binding force.

Common-
Law:
This means that you have lived continuously with your partner in a marital-type relationship for a minimum of one (1) year.

Divorced:
This means that you are officially separated and have legally ended your marriage.

Legally Separated:
This means that you are married, but no longer living with your spouse.

Married:
This means that you and your spouse have had a ceremony that legally binds you to each other. Your marriage must be legally recognized in the country where it was performed and in Canada.

Single:
This means that you have never been married and are not in a common-law relationship.

Widowed:
This means that your spouse has died and that you have not re-married or entered into a common-law relationship."

See here

The separation date is relevant to IRCC because according to Canada's Divorce Act, in order to file for divorce in Canada you must first complete a full one year separation period except in the cases of adultery or cruelty (see here and here). You are legally separated as soon as you and your spouse are ‘living separate and apart’.

Check these external threads for similar experiences: this and this. One recurring part of the discussions is that IRCC might later ask for your divorce papers before granting you PR. This is to ensure that you cannot sponsor the ex for residency later.

I would say put the date that you filled in your legal proceedings. I did a search on canadavisa website (see below) and I would suggest including LOE explaining that your divorce is not finalised yet to avoid unnecessary ADR. Check out this thread for similar cases.

Olub123456789,

I am not a Lawyer, but I will assume you are deemed married until the divorce is finalized (I stand to be corrected). The complication here is that IRCC will most likely assumed you are still married though (and we all know the complication involved in your case including medicals, PCC, travel history and all that for a spouse you are likely not in good terms with)‎

But for this case (as it relates to submitting your application before a divorce is finalized), I suggest you put in the exact date you would submit the application (as it is the closest to finalizing the divorce).

Then you need to be very detailed with your use of the Client Information section- LOE indicating the process is ongoing et al (and please provide all the necessary documentations to back up your claims. Please make sure they are up to date) with an option to update such date as soon as the divorce is finalized.

Then raise a CSE afterwards to inform IRCC with regards to the eventual change in family composition (in your case, divorce) to include the correction to the date earlier presented.

*This is only my suggestion. I could be wrong though*‎

It has been a really long road. And I just want to give thanks to God, because I know He makes ALL things beautiful in His time.
This journey started from the study route. Got admission to Fanshawe and Vancouver island Uni. Couldn’t raise funds at the time so I took a breather and tried out EE.
I’m going to give back to the thread the way I benefitted from it in days past.

IELTS
IELTS really humbled me mehn. I just couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. Reading was a pain. I wrote this dreaded exam 5times. I remember my first exam, didnt even bother reading for it. The mindset was “is it not ordinary english exam”. 5 exams later and look at God. All four remaining exams, I only practiced for reading as that was the part giving me nightmares. I knew the section giving me issues was the last section. It was too long and boring and there was barely any time to finish. For the 5th and final test, I started my reading exam with the last section which was the hardest and solved backwards. Voilaa!
ECA
This was the smoothest part of the journey self. 3 weeks between paying, applying for transcript and IQAS sending me my ECA. I wonder what happened to them post 2016.
WEDDING REGISTRY
The plan was to get married and add my wife post AOR or when I get COPR, but the delay in passing ielts scuffed all that. Score was 439 after the 5th ielts and the average to get ITA was 441. So one morning, I left work and took a stroll down to the registry just to confirm their process. One thing lead to the other and I called my wife (then girlfriend not even fiancé) and gave her our wedding date. She was thunderstruck. I kept saying “hello hello! Can you hear me? Lol
Yes we had plans to marry and we already knew we were going to spend the rest of our lives together, this just brought it closer.
Luckily I had begged her to do ECA and IELTS because after my fourth IELTS, I was tired and I told her to be principal applicant. She reluctantly agreed, because she didn’t think her work experience would qualify. I also registered to do the IELTS exam with her for moral support and reduce the pressure I was placing on her. Lo and behold we both passed. Recalculated our scores…and here we are!
POF
I started this process not knowing where the POF was going to come from but I had faith in God. Few weeks after AOR, God came through for us. We got 100% POF gift from two sources (85/80). This was really bugging me because all through the thread most gift was from just one source. After digesting the gift deed section, I decided to go through with it and be clean with IRCC as expected. Two deed of gift was drafted and signed by all parties. One of the gift deed was to me and the other deed was to my wife. We deposited both in our joint account. My wife also wrote a letter authorising me to use the deed to her as part of our settlement funds. We didn’t notarise the deed as the gift were from family members. We wanted to make it look as natural and logical as possible.

Post AOR
I had promised myself before I submitted our application that I would not be checking the portal every minute. Who was I kidding? It became a routine, every morning before I even assign task to my team members, I would always check to see if there was anything new. I followed ImmiTracker to know when my AOR mates were getting MEP/BIL. After MEP/BIL, the wait became worse because there was nothing to look forward too. Total silence. Not even an ADR. I even emailed Ralph so I could know my situation. Ms Robyn replied a few hours later that criminality was passed, but eligibility and security checks have not being initiated. Then PPR started raining for AOR mates and even people who submitted much later. I knew it was close. Then I logged in one morning and saw the first ghost update. I couldn’t hold my smile. Every morning after that ghost update, I would wake up with excitement only for it to diminish after I refresh my mail. This went on for a while. Then I requested for GCMS notes first week in January (yet to arrive as at the time of writing this report)

“Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity”
Page 1 of this thread cannot be over emphasized. From this thread, I’ve enlightened some people and they keep saying why don’t I become an agent? In this Journey you have to read, research and know what works for you. No two applications are the same. Review your application logically and act as your own Visa officer before submitting. If Finance is your stumbling block, start from somewhere help can arrive at any time but it must meet you prepared. You don’t have to have all the money to start the process.
I wish everyone on the Journey Success and may we all achieve our dreams in Canada.

it has ended in Praise!

If I received a cash gift and invested same in treasury bills, do i have to provide a gift deed document alongside the tbills certificate? Or is the tbills certificate sufficient?

It is a material fact. He needs to declare it. He should add LOE explaining what happened.

If he fails to declare it and it is discovered, that's straight 5yrs ban for misrepresentation.

So, I noticed today a couple of our good-hearted and well-meaning members have commented on a post stating that ECA is NOT required to be uploaded in an application post-ITA since it does state so, anywhere.

I have attached a screenshot of the page, where it specifically mentions that it needs to be uploaded.

I am also quoting below a rejection text by IRCC for the very same reason.

Quote:
"Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), has assessed your application for permanent residence. We have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of a complete application as described in sections 10 and 12.01 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. Your application is rejected for being incomplete.
Specifically, your application does not include the following elements:
- Proof of education
You must submit an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) to support your Education documents.

and another one,

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has reviewed your application for permanent
residence. We have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of a complete
application as described in sections 10 and 12.01 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.
Your application is rejected for being incomplete.

Refund of fees
As we are rejecting your application, IRCC will refund the fees that you have paid. This includes a refund
of the processing fee and the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, if you have already paid this fee.
Job Seeker account
Since your application is rejected, you are no longer a candidate for Express Entry and your Express

If you registered for the Government of Canada’s Job Bank, you should deactivate or remove your Job
Seeker profile from the Job Bank website. You should also remove any references that you are a
candidate for Express Entry from any private job board websites, if you used any.
