You have not bonded with your child U come home once in a while and expect her to connect with u. It happens when a child grows without the father, u only come in once in a while so she doesn't know u well. Start bonding with her and stop forcing her to greet u, treat her nice n spend alot of time with her, buy her different things whenever u are back let her be excited to see u even if she associates u with a gift If u do this she will practically kill u with love and follow u everywhere u go. |

a girl child is taught to greet anyone ( bending the knee) no matter how little she is as long as she can talk. soldiers who travel while their wives are pregnant still tell their kids about their father's return, or she has a father figure elsewhere? |

Why are you so quick to blame your wife? Don't you trust your her? The issue might be that your daughter is not free with you. You need to make your presence felt when you are around. Play with her, feed her sometimes, dress her up. Do things with her in a fun way. Take her out on a stroll, etc Children are not hard to please. Don't just be around and keep her at arm's length while you probably hang out with friends or busy on your phone. 3 Likes |

5thElement:I agree with you. Still remember the only time my dad trek to our nursery school then to pick me and my cousin. Dad usually come with car from office but that day, we didn’t see dad after dismal and me and my cousin decided to trek home, not far sha but was surprised when we met dad on road trekking to our school .. That scenario still replay like movie in my head even though dad is late now. This happened in the late 80s |

OP! Your daughter has another 'Daddy'. Forcing her to call you Daddy is only confusing her! 1 Like

5thElement: Very good points. Some men just act all serious around the children and now wonder why the children are closer to their mums. My daughter is so close to her dad. When he is around, she hardly allows anyone touch her...even me sometimes. They play so much. He carries her around... But a lot of men feel that the fact that they fathered a child is enough. The woman can do every other thing. I doubt that the op has been close to his child. 1 Like |

ImaIma1: Most guys don't exactly have a reference point for mushy mushy affection since they didn't get that from their dads anyway. But things are changing, and the era of the man of the house being the emperor of all is fading. Daughters have a closer affinity to their dads while sons have a closer bond with their moms. That is usually the natural order of things. It helps the girl pick a gentleman for a husband if her dad is such and helps the boy have respect for the girls he dates if he was raised by a "queen". |

iMed: Keep your wife away from this. What role have you been playing in the life of your kid? I have two girls (twin) of 2 years 3 months, trust me, the bond is out of this world. Their mother do even jealous us. Whenever I say 'my love, sugar etc, they know I am referring to them. This morning K1 walk up to me while I was carrying K2 and say, Daddy, good morning, K2, good morning, and of course K2 replied her immediately. I amd wifey smiled. Oga, try and be more involved to your kid and wife, marriage (family) comes first. |
