My 2yr Old Child - Is This Normal? by iMed: 7:42am On Jan 19, 2019 |
Hello guys, I have noticed that my 2yr old daughter does not like to greet me. When she returns from school and the mother tells her to greet “good afternoon daddy” she refuses and if the mother insists she’d rather cry instead than say it. Again in the morning on the bed when the mother tells her to say “good morning daddy” she will refuse and if we insist she will rather cry than say it. I’m a bit confused because she’s my first child so I have decided to bring the matter here for more information and possibly guidance on how to proceed on this issue. Set up: I live and work in Kaduna while my wife works in Abuja and the child is always with her. At the moment I’m a bit concerned and I’m beginning to suspect that the mother may have been Training her in the wrong way! Should I be worried or it’s not something to be worried about? Guys pls your opinions are appreciated. Mod: Mods please if you can kindly take this post to front page for more public opinion and contribution I’ll be grateful. |

My brother you have not bondee well enough with her. It has nothing to do with your wife. The little girl is still trying to process who you really are. Soon she will understand well that you are her dad but a bachelor in another land 37 Likes |

iMed: Ding! Ding!! Ding!!! Ding!!!! Dude, you're a stranger to your own daughter. Even in schools these days, children are taught not to talk to strangers. Fix that and and you'll win the affection of your daughter 21 Likes |

You need to spend more time with your family so your princess can be seeing you around. Probably she seeing you as stranger. 4 Likes |

All children have different growth rate and pattern. You are in a hurry bro. Give her time na. My son doesn't say goodmorning but each time I return home, he jumps down and runs to embrace me. If I call him, he answers"ma!" Instead of sir. I'm not bothered as I know he will change it with time. He is almost 2. Chill man. 13 Likes 1 Share |

I wanted to type a lengthy response but i realise i don't have the moral right to do so...i don't have a kid...not even engaged sef. But i feel you need to start bonding with your kid before it is too late. She isn't seeing you as her fathet yet...you need to ignite the connect. 3 Likes |

shakmati:You are very apt based on my own experience with my pretty daughter. I am even tired of her greetings now. She wants to know what happens to me every minute. Daddy, i hope you enjoy your meal? Daddy, hope you are doing great? Something is wrong, my daddy is still in the room alone. Daddy, come out, they have started WWE. iMed, just be calmed and make yourself available at home. Na you go tire of her greetings as time passes by. 10 Likes |

I'm just wondering. Is there a photo of you and your wife in your sitting room. So she sees mummy and daddy's pictures all the time. All the same, she's still young. 2 Likes |

You are expecting too much from your 2 years old child. By the way, she is not supposed to be in school @ 2 years old..... |

]Your daughter doesn't recognize you as his dad so she found it very disgusting to call a total stranger "daddy". do you speak to your daughter on phone while you are away at all? Maybe your wife brings home lots of "Daddy".... I don't wanna believe such anyway but it's possible tho. |

She is just a kid.... This Y2K parents should allow their kids to grow up now haba!! 2 yrs, she is already in school.... In three years time u will come here again and ask if it was normal for ur 5 yr old not to know algebraic equation.. then those lying parents would tell you how their daughters and cousins started solving it @ 3. Stop stressing that kid please. Let kids be kids 4 Likes |

You worry too much, about none issues, expecting a 2 year old to be greeting you. My four year old kids just started greeting I and hubby and sometimes they even forget and we have to remind them. 1 Like |

iMed: anytime you're home, make those moments the happiest of her life. be jovial, be playful. let your family feel your presence when you are around. some men frank their faces or just glue their eyes to the telly or some paper forming lord and master of the realm. get on the floor with your daughter and build Lego castles. take her out to eateries on the weekends. trust me, she won't be able to forget that experience for ever. I am amazed at what even I can remember from childhood. thank God I had a good one otherwise I'd be having nightmares 1 Like |

This happens when you don't bond with the child Growing up, I had d same feeling with my Dad, it always sound awkward greeting him "good morning Dad" affectionately If you don't start bonding with your kid now, forget that she's still little, she might grow up being distant from u No time is too early to bond with your kid don't mind people saying that she's still young that u shud give her time 1 Like |

Hi. You need to take time for your daughter. Show her love, read books together, play ball, take her to places. She is only two but small children forget easily. Is she happy seeing you?? If not something is wrong. Even small kids can run to their parents without using words. Maybe you should consider moving back with your family.... |

Kids of these days are something else. I tell my son to greet in his local language every morning but he doesn't. He's 5 years old and I've been telling him since he was 2. He greets only the days he likes. |
