That is not an excuse it is a fact. marriage does not stop pedophile nor does celibacy.
I like the way you always make the tail wag the dog. Keep on supporting evil like your pope. Keep standing logic on its head.

Many people are attracted to priesthood because they want leave all things to serve God in a radical way, i know many such people.
The issue of sexual identity is the reason why since 2002 all who want to be priest undergo psychological tests to screen out those with baggages.
celibacy does not put sexual maturation on hold that is unscientific, it isnt castration unless u mean to tell me that all who didnt marry are deviants.
Have u never heard of parents who sexually abvse their own kids?
I'm not saying that they don't want to serve God. We all do. But lets keep it real. Most of these people do it to please their parents or society with out knowing the consequences. Or they do it because that's all they know. Being lonely its not that easy. Trust me it complicates things.
There is a reason why God created a woman and man.
Not knowing a lady your whole entire life will lead you to knowing something else.

Is he right about debunking of that book?

Is he right about debunking Catholic priests paedophilia and the Pope shielding them?
Anybody can claim to debunk anything,it doesn't mean it didn't happen. There are Jewish people who claim to debunk the holocaust in which six million Jews were gassed to death by the Nazis. It doesn't mean it didn't happen.
I have even seen people claiming General Sani Abacha didn't steal public funds,it doesn't mean he did not do it.

I have seen quite a number of your posts on nairaland. Your aggressive campaign to smear Catholicism, by bringing up from anywhere and everywhere, negative publications on various individuals and maybe groups in the Catholic Church, and falsely portraying it as what the church represent is disturbing.

Do you even think that good people have come through the Catholic Church? Do you believe that people's lives have been touched positively through the instruments of the church? Have you given a thought that those whose lives were touched positively have professed, do profess, and will profess, again and again, the goodness of the Church to them.

When you pick your battle, do your homework well. Things are not often the way it seems, be objective and free yourself from hate. Find below the confession of your hero, after 10 years of his book.

"While I believe with many commentators that the pope might have done more to help the plight of the Jews, I now feel, 10 years after the publication of my book, that his scope for action was severely limited and I am prepared to state this.... Nevertheless, due to his ineffectual and diplomatic language in respect of the Nazis and the Jews, I still believe that it was incumbent on him to explain his failure to speak out after the war. This he never did."

@syncan,
I see your objective here. In the usual Catholic way. To leave the substance which is PAEDOPHILE CATHOLIC PRIESTS ABUSING AND ANALLY RAPING LITTLE CATHOLIC CHOIR BOYS,in their CARE WITH THE ACTIVE CONNIVANCE OF THE POPE,and chase shadows in order to deflect attention from the horror that the conglomerate called Catholicism represents.

@Syncan,
When you come back from church today feeling all pious and talking down on people who are not as holy as you,I would advise you to watch this video about the (in)famous Magdalene laundries in Ireland which were slave labour camps run by the Catholic church to keep the Pope and his hench men living in finery and sh1t.
But then what do I know......

So you suddenly became blind to read that the writer of the book totally denied the conclusions he made after 10 years of been debunked and refuted.

Nobody goes into the priesthood and claim he was not aware, it take 8 good years of been informed abt it. you must be an adult to be ordained.

if been celibate make people know something else then Jesus and Paul must be sexual deviant and they recommended that life for others.

Blind delusion sometimes affects comprehension. I can't help you if you choose not to understand what you are reading.

Consider talking to someone, a specialist. It might help. Whatever you do, don't commit suicide.

Answer the questions about the beasts you call priests annally RAPING iinnocent choir boys in their care.
Syncan and Ubenedictus,I am beginning to have a sneaky feeling the two of you are Catholic priests.....
Are any young boys safe around you lot??

What your silly pope should do is to introduce regular psychiatric evaluation for all catholic priests to protect little children but he wouldn't because if you read Archbishop Vigano's letters the underlying message is that the pope himself is not adverse to a little choir boy or two. That is the reason he is shielding these paedophile priests.

A major response to Hitler's Pope came from University of Mississippi law professor Ronald J. Rychlak in his 2000 book on the subject, Hitler, the War, and the Pope.[27] Rychlak was acknowledged by the Vatican to have been given special access to their closed archives for his research.[citation needed]

Rychlak disagreed with Cornwell's claim of having found a "time bomb letter", arguing that the letter in question had actually been written not by Pacelli but by his assistant, and moreover had been fully published and discussed in a 1992 book by Emma Fattorini (a highly respected docent at the University of Rome).[28] With respect to Cornwell's allegations of antisemitism, Rychlak stated that "When Pius XII died in 1958, there were tributes from virtually every Jewish group around the world".[29][30]

Rychlak also alleged that Cornwell manipulated the photograph on the front cover of the American edition of the book, and incorrectly dated the photo as having been taken in March 1939, the month that Pacelli was made Pope. Rychlak charged that this had been done deliberately in order to give the impression that Pius had just visited Hitler when, in fact, the photo had been taken in 1927 as Pius was leaving a reception held for German President Paul von Hindenburg.[31] Robert Royal has also repeated this allegation.[32]

In his 2005 book The Myth of Hitler's Pope, the historian and rabbi David G. Dalin also countered Cornwell.[33] Dalin suggested that Yad Vashem should honor Pope Pius XII as a "Righteous Gentile," concluding that "[t]he anti-papal polemics of ex-seminarians like Garry Wills and John Cornwell ... of ex-priests like James Carroll, and or other lapsed or angry liberal Catholics exploit the tragedy of the Jewish people during the Holocaust to foster their own political agenda of forcing changes on the Catholic Church today."[34] Dalin called the book's conclusions "unverified" and "strongly anti-religious".[35] Eugene Fisher, who has a PhD in Hebrew culture and education, said it was a "sad commentary on the secular media that this anti-Catholic screed was ever published".[35]

In his book The New Anti-Catholicism: The Last Acceptable Prejudice, Philip Jenkins said that Hitler's Pope could not be understood except as a series of "very low blows against the modern Catholic Church, and specifically the papacy of John Paul II."[36]

Ken Woodward, writing in Newsweek, stated that Hitler's Pope has "errors of fact and ignorance of context [that] appear on almost every page."[37]

In an historical assessment of Pope Pius XII, the Encyclopædia Britannica addressed Cornwell's book in the following terms: "John Cornwell's controversial book on Pius, Hitler's Pope (1999), characterized him as anti-Semitic. [The depiction], however, lack[s] credible substantiation". The Encyclopedia further assessed his role in aiding Jews during the Holocaust as follows: "Although he allowed the national hierarchies to assess and respond to the situation in their countries, he established the Vatican Information Service to provide aid to, and information about, thousands of war refugees and instructed the church to provide discreet aid to Jews, which quietly saved thousands of lives".[38]

2013 book Disinformation: Former Spy Chief Reveals Secret Strategies for Undermining Freedom, Attacking Religion, and Promoting Terrorism by Rychlak and Pacepa criticises Cornwell and suggests the basis for many allegations were leaks from the Soviets as an attempt to undermine Catholic influence and thus weaken it as an anti-Communist enemy.
