She's a migrant, the country does not give a new born baby a birth certificate without sighting the mothers marriage certificate to the father who must be a citizen, except if the mother is a citizen herself, I think its Canada.

The child's birth certificate will be used to maintain her status in the country for another 6month after which the husband can file for a residency for the mother.

I'm sure the guy is not gonna be locked up for so long.

If he is in jail for robbery or fraud, dude probably has some cash stashed somewhere and sis knows it .

Only ladies do stuff like this. Once you are in jail as a woman, whatever boyfriend or husband you have will move on so fast you won’t even know what hit you.

Wonder why we have to prove unnecessary loyalty to our own detriment. Nonsense

The Culture is in the US differs from ours in Africa and besides Black Americans second home is prison over there!! Marrying a hommie in the Prison is no big deal since even those living outside are on borrowed time, sooner or later some will join others inside!!

It's because of our stupid tradition and system

If any lady should try this, her family will disown her and she will be stigmatised.

In the US they allow conjugal visit.

This is heartfelt, true love and respect.
It’s ghetto love. They know no better.

How can any rational person hook their wagon to a sinking ship? Worse will be of dude skips once/if he gets out.

Only 4 states in the US allow conjugal visits (California, Connecticut, New York and Washington State).

Furthermore, such visits are only allowed in lesser-risk prisons and federal prisons do NOT permit conjugal visits.

Doubtful a dude in shackles would be in a conjugal prison.

You can say that again. undecided

With all due respect to My African-American brothers, far too many of them view a stint in prison as bordering on the normal (if not entirely normal), but then again it should also be acknowledged that the US justice system is institutionally racist and is often stacked against them.

Last year a Nigerian guy was arrested in Cambodia, upon hearing the news from his girlfriend, she got proposed by another guy and they got married.

It was the same girl that the guy was sending money for and have also concluded plans to marry on the December of the said year 2017.

The guy was heartbroken.
Serves the slowpoke right (presuming he is convicted) for apparently having to engage in criminality to keep a female. Hopefully, he’ll find a big and buffed boyfriend in prison. SMH

Will take such “stupidity” anyday. undecided

I believe in rehabilitation and that everyone deserves love, but this should never be an acceptable aspiration for anyone or parent.

He is probably in jail cos of the lady. Not everyone in jail is actually a bad person. Some are there cos of little mistake or been roped along as innocent but got convicted. Alot are behind bars for silly offences
Whether you are a so-called “bad person” or a “good person” is IRRELEVANT in the US criminal justice system (except for perhaps parole and the length of your sentence), it is solely concerned with whether or not you committed a crime (as per the criminal statute).
