The group's reasons for a possible Buhari trumph is very transient and lacked a good understanding of Nigeria's demographic sentiments and geo-politics.

Firstly, they were shamefully wrong on South East. The governors there do not have the charisma to redirect the electorate on the already anti Buhari sentiments.

Secondly, the 'greater control of 23 states' by the Apc they alluded does not have a corresponding sentiment on the ground. Example, Benue is amongst the 23. Is Samuel Ortom going to force Benueans to vote Apc, even though he is now in pdp. Imo state is among the 23, will Buhari win Imo as well? A Buhari victory in Kano for instance would be with what margin?

How will Buhari compensate the Kwankwaso factor that was not there in 2015? Where will he get the votes to make up the deficit from Kwankwaso given that the margin of victory in 2015 was 2.4 million.

Thirdly, this group got it also wrong on Wike. Wike has been in practice, a visible mobilizer for Atiku.
Saraki is doing well in Kwara shoring his base.

Fourthly, the analysis is obviously a hurried paid, cooked up one because there is no indication the pdp lacked funds in view of the boisterous campaign they've been having in the past two weeks. Therefore, this analysis is at best a political joke.

@POLITICSNGR

Eurasia Group, One of the World's largest Political Risk Consultancy firms has predicted that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 Presidential Elections.

The Group, founded in 1998 by American political scientist Ian Bremmer, said Buhari has a 60 per cent probability to win. This was contained in its recent Political Forecast.

According to the Group; “Opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar has regained some momentum in recent weeks, but President Muhammadu Buhari remains favored to win (a 60% probability),” the group said.

“On election day, the ruling All Progressives Congress’s (APC’s) significantly greater control of local political structures and resources, it governs 23 states compared to the opposition’s 12, will boost voter mobilization and solidify Buhari’s advantage.”

In 2015, Eurasia Group also predicted that Buhari will defeat former president Goodluck Jonathan, changing its stance some weeks to the election after it had initially chosen the former president to win.

PoliticsNGR observed that the group also highlighted reasons why the PDP might lose adding that the DG of Atiku's Campaign, Bukola Saraki was distracted by the battles he is facing in the National Assembly coupled with the weak campaign being run by South-East governors who are not to happy with the emergence of Atiku's running mate, Peter Obi.

The group stated; "Wike was annoyed by Atiku’s failure to consult him on key decisions, Saraki remains distracted by a tough Senate reelection battle in Kwara state, and the southeast governors are hampered by many conflicting motivations, including their own lack of political clout (which makes them reluctant to overtly challenge the federal government) and their wariness of Atiku’s running mate Peter Obi, a former governor of the southeastern Anambra state who they view as a political outsider.

The lack of enthusiasm on the part of some PDP governors is a problem for Atiku because these officials control significant discretionary funds at the state level (known as ‘security votes’) that are easier to access without triggering graft concerns."

APC and Buhari have done so well in using the state fund to purchase endorsements in the name of trying to win an election. They move funds through one hon. A. Jubril and quiet players to fund their campaign. We know as e dey go.

How they fund campaign state by state with huge sums of money is no longer hidden. PMB is leading the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria.

At this stage, we say enough is enough. Stop promoting the return of cabals to the state house in the name of Buhari.

IPOB dont have sense at all bcs they should understand that election is a game of number. Do the IPOB believe they have the population to win any presidential election ?

THIS IS HOW BUHARI WILL WIN

NW vs SE = NW to win for PMB against SE bcs of their population

SW vs SS = SW to win bcs of Edo factor

NE & NC = 50/50

Result clearly signify that PMB to the next level

Listen my friend. Do you think the North is foolish? To allow a cabal controlled government of Buhari for the next 4 years? Compare to a fresh potential 8 years that Atiku will give them.

Let us be fare and neutral to assume the following scenarios will play out on Feb. 16.

NW - 12 million votes | Atiku - 4.5 million PMB - 7 million
NE - 9 million Votes | Atiku - 5 million PMB - 4 million
NC - 6 million votes | Atiku - 4 million PMB - 2 million
SW- 10 million votes | Atiku - 4 million PMB - 6 million
SE- 6 million votes | Atiku - 5 million PMB - 1 million
SS - 7 million votes | Atiku - 5 million PMB 2 million

Total 50 million votes 27.5 million votes PMB 22 million votes

PMB can no boast of 70% votes in any part of Nigeria even in his home town. But Atiku can easily crush him (PMB) with 80% in both SS and SE.

THE COUNTRY FACES ITS MOST FIERCELY CONTESTED ELECTION since the transition to democracy in 1999. One candidate is the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari. He is an elderly, infirm leader who lacks the energy, creativity, or political savvy to move the needle on Nigeria's most intractable problems. His opponent is Atiku Abubakar, another gerontocrat who would focus on enriching himself and his cronies, avoiding the difficult and politically unpopular tasks necessary for reform.

Buhari is the frontrunner. A second term for him would mean the country at best muddles through the next four years, with little progress on critical policy priorities like tax reform or a restructuring of the energy sector. Buhari would be a lame duck from day one, with powerbrokers in his own party quickly shifting their focus to the next electoral cycle in 2023. And if Buhari's health problems continue or worsen, the situation will get worse. The president's continual medical leaves abroad impaired governance his first term. A repetition would again remove him from decision-making and the public eye for months at a time, leaving investors to wonder who is calling the shots and whether they're qualified for the job.

A Buhari reelection also carries tail risks. A politically weak president, for health or other reasons, would open the floodgates for political infighting, increasing the chances that his ruling All Progressives Congress implodes. That would turn a policy slowdown into paralysis. The risk of attacks on oil infrastructure would also rise, because the absence of strong leadership in Abuja would make it harder to negotiate with the Niger Delta's various militant groups.

A win for the challenger, Atiku, would create a brief, superficial boost to the country's image—largely because of his better health and keener intellect. But it would also pose the risk of a return to an even more rent-seeking governing style.

Atiku's policy priorities are unclear and untested: He had previously promised to deregulate the oil and gas sector but recently pledged to reduce gasoline prices by 50% from already below-market levels. That would swell subsidy costs and endanger long-term debt sustainability. He's also unlikely to champion a tax reform that's critical to Nigeria's fiscal sustainability. Atiku would face significant infighting within his People's Democratic Party as well, as leaders try to hold him to his promise to serve only one term (a pledge he's likely to retract).

The election will be close, and a challenged or inconclusive result is possible.

Then there's a dangerous wildcard outcome. The election will be close, and a challenged or inconclusive result is possible. That, in turn, could trigger a political crisis in which neither candidate has a legitimate claim to power. If the vote is close enough to trigger a runoff, Nigeria's constitution requires the second round of voting to occur within seven days of the first, a tough timeline to meet given the complexity of organizing national elections in the country. This could be a recipe for severe uncertainty in Africa's most important market

If we must face reality, Atiku cannot defeat Buhari in NE & NC. Buhari is wining NW & NE with a wide margin; NC with a slim margin; and SW with with like 60% to 40%; while Atiku will win SE & SS in a landslide. After all is done, Buhari will win. Though I wish it doesn't happen so a fresh and disruptor like Sowore or Kingsley can come in, but that's the reality.
